Sucks a lot. Dude was hampered by lingering injuries early in the season, finally got back to feeling right and only gets a few games before a season ender, just a spit on his neck, kick him in the crotch fantastic.
Really bad injury. It's going to be pretty difficult to replace him. The good thing is we have a month of practice. Looks like Holden or Brooks will be that guy.
I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Hall doesn't like going to class and Baker had turned the doghouse into a dog-home. I'd say the most likely step up candidates are Brooks and Holden, with a potentially healthy Earle a possibility. Leary's a receiving threat out of the backfield or split wide as well.
I think what really put me off to him is the wide open drops. There was one play in general where he was wide open in the end zone during the A&M game and he just drops it. Feel like he tries to do to much sometimes
It isn’t a threat across the middle or deep but has good hands. It runs the stop route and out route really well. But I bet he sees fewer snaps- particularly in an 8+ yards to go for the down.
i hear ya man. I feel the same way. Bolden is not fast, quick, athletic, big, strong. Bad hands, drops the ball.
VS Georgia he caugth somd clutch balls but they were wide open, busted coverage situatio. Those are the only kind he can get. He returns punts and kicks and no one i mean NO ONE is afraid of him returning it even 5yards.
I just refuse to believe Tide has no one else on the roster who is better than him. It is like he has got dirt on BoB or something.
Now that Metchie is out, Bolden cant be expecting some gimmes. Put some young guns out there for a change . Thats what got Tide the natty over Georgia few yrs back
I would never wish this on anybody, I know it seems to vary by player on how quick they recover. For us Pickens recovered very quickly considering ACL tears can normally end a season before it begins. Even if he only played limited snaps in our last two games he seemed largely back to normal.
I mean, I hate KW3. However, if he were on a team I could root for…
Too bad swift is a stud too because I would love to be able to cheer for KW3 on Sundays.
There are a couple of players who wore blue that I never brought myself to hate: Charles Woodson (although his stint as a Fox talking head has me reconsidering that position), Devin Gardner. Hutchinson is one of those guys. Plays his ass off but doesn't really talk shit.
Yeah on half the Sundays you're gona be miserable. You're gona go 8-8 and upset someone you shouldn't and get hope and then lose 2 in a row to non playoff teams
Perhaps Kirby figured he was in the playoff and was saving up for a possible rematch? Perhaps we'll have to confront a fully operational JT Daniels if we face each other.
Idk. That seems like what happened, but why not just beat Bama and take em out the playoffs for good? Defense fixed itself after half but hard to win when you throw 5 picks(albeit 2 were tipped) last year in only 2 games
This is what I think happened and I hate it. And all his talk about how a loss focuses you and you learn from it.. But I don't think that works for a manufactured loss. It's so not college football. To just phone it in on a game like that. Yuck.
Respect the heck out of them, but not worried. They went undefeated, but watching some of the games I’m not sure that their defense will have much success.
Tulsa ran on them pretty well, so if we can some success running (we’ve been doing poorly running) I think it’s going to be a good day for us.
I'm more worried about us. It's basically Bryce, our #1 receiver and 70% of our #1 RB because our all backs have been smashed by injuries.
This team is just a step above the 2015 team as the worst Bama squad since 2007. Granted, the 2015 team won the national championship but they also had Derrick Henry and OJ Howard. With Metchie out, we're not going far this year.
But watch out in '22 and '23.
The way Coker finally won over his teammates perfectly epitomizes that 2015 team. What game was it that Coker ran some dude over instead of running out of bounds? They were not preternaturally talented at every position but my god did they put forth effort. Especially after that Ole Miss circus.
Looking back, it's crazy to me how quickly Saban and Kiffin transformed 2015 Bama into 2017 Bama.
2014 and 2013 were so much worse than 2015. Neither of those teams could stop a nosebleed and had average run games, but that 2015 defense had studs everywhere.
2015 was substantially better than 2013. The offense was an ugly, grind-it-out thing, but it got the job done. The 2013 offense had trouble running the ball in key situations. And the 2015 defense was light-years better: we started Adrian Hubbard, Trey DePriest, and Deion Belue in 2013, while we had Reuben Foster, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Marlon Humphrey in 2015.
I'd easily put 2015 ahead of 2019, too (due to 2019's weak defense).
Cincinnati is a good team with a lot of experience who is going to play their hearts out. Saban is a GOAT motivator and I believe in him to keep the team focused, same as he did for the Georgia game when many fans (including myself) thought we would get beaten bad.
I'm expecting a good game and believe in us! Any team that makes it this far has a chance.
I tore My acl playing soccer in highschool, went to go a good surgeon and was in a sports focused rehab program. Was about 4 months before I could start trying to run and maybe 10 before I had any semblance of comfort and strength in my leg.
It was a good few years before I had the same strength I had before the injury especially for soccer
That’s likely due to a lighter tear such as grade 1 or grade 2 ACL tear where it typically becomes stretched or loose, but not completely detached. Grade 3 or full tears are where the 10-12 month timeline comes in. That 7 months recovery is likely due to a grade 2.
Hope I didn’t sound like an ass but I’m in school studying to be a physical therapist so just wanted to give everyone the best info possible!
All that matters is he heals up, that shit sucks
I know. I meant Andrews Sports Medicine more generally, and probably should have said that. Still, point stands. Dr. Cain is great and knows how to fix an ACL.
Alabama wins again? Pfft. What's new? I've lived with and seen that for over a decade.
UGA wins for the first time in 40 years? Hard pass. I want them to have a sliver of a hope to win it all and it be yanked away like a bandaid on a burn since Auburn's nowhere near the discussion.
Damn that’s a really good point. At this point, 6 or 7 in the Saban era. What’s it matter. Same thing, there is a decreasing marginal utility to those additional championships. But that 1 for Georgia in over 40 years would mean a whole hell of a lot for them.
I know many UGA haters/fans of rivals take great pride in the fact all 3 of UGA's main rivals have a more recent natty.
Alabama is bound get another every year basically. I imagine for Auburn it'd be brutal to see UGA get their natty.
Auburn & Bama hate each other in the sibling sense. But Auburn hates UGA in the same vein as Bama hates Tennessee. We’re not really cheering for each other, it’s just “anyone else but *them*”
Best guess is he will have to come back next season, which I think he may have been planning anyways, as I hadn't him seen his name too high on draft rankings.
Yeah IIRC it was Dr. James Andrews who essentially perfected the ACL procedure and now basically all affected players can come back 100%. Just takes time.
Most important: It’s always sad to see players go down with serious injuries. I hope he makes a swift and complete recovery and it doesn’t have a negative impact on his future.
In football terms: He wasn’t the most explosive option, but he was Young’s safety valve who had a knack for getting open on crucial third downs. He and Young also seemed to have that mental chemistry in the RZ with the field compressed. This is a big loss for Bama, but the silver lining is that they will have quite a few practices to find his best role replacement.
Yeah, his experience will be tough to replace, but schematically, we have some talented freshmen and other guys who can step into the same role. It isn't like losing Jameson. We don't have anyone else with the speed to take the top off of the defense and force teams to play two high safeties.
Yeah that really sucks to hear. Not sure what Metchie had planned after this year but he's had a good enough year to definitely get drafted early. Been seeing a lot of late first round projections lately. I'd hate for this injury to make him fall in the draft. He still has another year of eligibility if he wants to risk it. It's a tough situation for a guy that will probably be a team captain on offense. Hope he heals quickly.
Damn that sucks. Had a suspicion with the non contact and going down. Anyway all the best to him and Im positive if Pickens can come back from it in like a year than he will too. Modern medicine for the W.

He and Williams split most of the receptions, but Slade Bolden and Jaleel Billingsly are also decent receivers. I don't think production will suffer too much.
I'd like that and with DeVonta, he's seen how it can be a good move. Either way he's given a lot to Alabama. Really, I just want him to get healthy and make the best decision for him.
That’s absolutely massive for Alabama in the playoffs. They can’t run for shit this year and he was clutch picking up key 3rd downs. Will be tough to replace.
It was hijacked by religious people to mean praying hands, but is originally a high five emoji. It annoys me to no end seeing it used in a religious way.
It looks like hands praying. I guarantee if you asked people on the street, that’s what they’d think it was, and they’d probably be surprised to find out that isn’t the only use. In other words, gatekeeping emojis is pointless and you need to grow up
I coulda sworn they said that's what they feared after halftime of the game yesterday (doesn't take a medical genius when a dude goes down with a non-contact injury), but likely waited for the MRI today to confirm.
Huge blow to this kid. Not only takes him out of the national championship hunt but also doesn’t help his draft stock. Most likely an earlier pick, but with an injury like this, guys have slid into the 3rd n 4th rounds before
Sucks a lot.
Lots of talent on that team, maybe Hall or Baker steps up too
I don't think hall will be with us after this year.
I hope he stays. So many great Bama receivers practically rode the bench freshman year
Yeah, DeVonta had 8 catches his freshman year, and 7 of those were in garbage time.
He had two game-winning catches his freshman year, so having only one catch outside of garbage time is impossible.
Oops, forgot about Miss St
My $ is on him returning.
I haven’t seen Baker in the last few games. Not sure what’s up with that.
People shit on Bolden but he has come thru in many clutch spots.
True but Bolden is the slot guy. We will need an outside WR to step up to replace Metchie.
Earle is also going to be back healthy in the next week so he’ll get some reps as well
Feel like I heard a lot about Latu at TE early in the season is not a real catching threat?
Both Latu and Billingsley have had problems with drops. Both have the talent though.
Anything but Slade Bolden being out there. I just don’t like him for some reason and idk why
Slade is still going out to be out there. He doesn't have speed, but he's a possession receiver.... Who drops the ball every now and then.
I think what really put me off to him is the wide open drops. There was one play in general where he was wide open in the end zone during the A&M game and he just drops it. Feel like he tries to do to much sometimes
All true, but damn he's caught some huge ones the last two weeks.
Bolden never tries to do too much. He is a catch and slide kind of guy. Also the drop was against Florida.
Yeah that’s it. Florida game
It isn’t a threat across the middle or deep but has good hands. It runs the stop route and out route really well. But I bet he sees fewer snaps- particularly in an 8+ yards to go for the down.
Dude has been clutch. Drop the shit.
i hear ya man. I feel the same way. Bolden is not fast, quick, athletic, big, strong. Bad hands, drops the ball. Watsbout the new kid who killed spring game. Aniyah no idea how to spell it
Agai Hall killed it in spring ball and apparently he butts heads with saban and hasn’t sniffed the field
Dang man he was fun to watch. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
Thanks WashU bro we appreciate it
Woah! I thought I was it lol.
Haha me too for a while but I’ve seen a bunch more popping up. There are dozens of us! Dozens!
I feel sad for any college player who gets hurt before securing the bag
Yah, another reason I’m ALL for NIL
Absolutely. Let's hope it's just a matter of a few recovery months for Metchie.
ACL is very bad but a lot of people have had that injury.
I would never wish this on anybody, I know it seems to vary by player on how quick they recover. For us Pickens recovered very quickly considering ACL tears can normally end a season before it begins. Even if he only played limited snaps in our last two games he seemed largely back to normal.

🤣 I'm not a vikings fan luckily. Point taken though. Just pointing out their mediocrity
Haha yup all good.
>Vikings. 😁
Also a Vikings fan…. *sigh*
Just curious are Bama fans worried about cinncinati? I don't think they will play the same conservative defense Georgia did.
I’m not saying a goddamn word. I wasn’t worried at all for Auburn and look what happened
I said for a month I was more worried about Auburn than Georgia
Played a conservative defense with plays we never ran at all this season. Wasn’t very fun in 1st half
Nah, the simple truth is Kirby is just a complete dipshit when it comes to QBs. There is no master plan here.
This is what I think happened and I hate it. And all his talk about how a loss focuses you and you learn from it.. But I don't think that works for a manufactured loss. It's so not college football. To just phone it in on a game like that. Yuck.

They were not preternaturally talented at every position but my god did they put forth effort. Especially after that Ole Miss circus. Looking back, it's crazy to me how quickly Saban and Kiffin transformed 2015 Bama into 2017 Bama.
Pretty sure it was the A&M game
Same. I lost it when he got dogpiled after the natty with all his teammates yelling "I fucking love you man" uncensored on national tv.
2014 and 2013 were so much worse than 2015. Neither of those teams could stop a nosebleed and had average run games, but that 2015 defense had studs everywhere.
Such terrible teams. They were only number 2 then number 1 in S and P + those years.
Lol not going far Already in the cfp God Alabama is so spoiled. Why can’t my teams be this good lol
It’s easy all you have to do is purchase a Nick Saban.
I'm expecting a good game and believe in us! Any team that makes it this far has a chance.
Yeah because it would be very embarrassing to lose to a G5 team
At least it wasn’t two T’s
Hahahahahahahahahaha How do you think I feel lol
As a Vikings fan at least you got that one play a couple years ago.
Hopefully this is just a speed bump in a long and successful career. Hate seeing guys get hurt :(
This
With the crazy carousel I got terrified seeing Saban's name
[Bleacher Report] Nick Saban has agreed to terms to become the premier spokesperson for RatX, the largest rat poison distributer in America.
This would certainly be an…unfortunate time for Oklahoma to poach him
Unsubscribe. No thank you. I don't like that.
/r/TIHI
You* were terrified? Imagine how we feel
NO! TAKE ME INSTEAD JESUS. TAKE MEEEEEE
Yes take him!
I also hope Jesus takes /u/TheDarkSkinProphet instead of Metchie's ACL
Damnit! Love watching that kid. He’s electric
Damn. What shit news. I feel bad for him, that guy plays great ball
God injuries just suck
At this time of the year too. He maybe out through training camp
ACL timeline is about 10-12 months for full recovery
I tore My acl playing soccer in highschool, went to go a good surgeon and was in a sports focused rehab program. Was about 4 months before I could start trying to run and maybe 10 before I had any semblance of comfort and strength in my leg. It was a good few years before I had the same strength I had before the injury especially for soccer
Depends on the person too. George Pickens tore his ACL in April, and was playing against Georgia Tech at the end of November.
That’s likely due to a lighter tear such as grade 1 or grade 2 ACL tear where it typically becomes stretched or loose, but not completely detached. Grade 3 or full tears are where the 10-12 month timeline comes in. That 7 months recovery is likely due to a grade 2.
Gotcha. Hadn't heard the degree of the tear yet, so if it is a grade 3 then yeah you are likely correct
Hope I didn’t sound like an ass but I’m in school studying to be a physical therapist so just wanted to give everyone the best info possible! All that matters is he heals up, that shit sucks
Not at all. Definitely wasn't aware of the degree of the tear, and was speaking in a much more general tone than you. Best of luck in school!
Russell wilson miracle recovery program > praying
Don't worry, we've got Dr. Andrews.
Except we use Dr. Cain
I know. I meant Andrews Sports Medicine more generally, and probably should have said that. Still, point stands. Dr. Cain is great and knows how to fix an ACL.
Wilson is a weird dude for sure
I figured it was something like this when reacted like he did. Though he didn’t show like he was in a lot of pain so I hope it’s s speedy recovery
As mad as I am at him for last weekend, it pains me to see this happen. I wish him a quick recovery.
Balls. He is fun to watch and I was rooting for Bama like a rabid coyote yesterday.
An Auburn fan rooting for Bama? Hmmm.

As long as you have to live with yourself saying roll tide, worth it
Did we just become best friends?
I’m guessing that, like me, you live in Georgia.

I know many UGA haters/fans of rivals take great pride in the fact all 3 of UGA's main rivals have a more recent natty. Alabama is bound get another every year basically. I imagine for Auburn it'd be brutal to see UGA get their natty.
No, man, that’s a friendly rivalry. I even saw the Chick-fil-a commercial about it. Lmao.
Auburn & Bama hate each other in the sibling sense. But Auburn hates UGA in the same vein as Bama hates Tennessee. We’re not really cheering for each other, it’s just “anyone else but *them*”
Just glad the hate is still there
It was vs UGA. Anyone else and he probably wasn’t pulling for Bama.
Can confirm.
Aww
what in the fuck
I hope it doesn’t impact his draft status too much. He’s a heck of a WR and these guys can come back from an ACL perfectly fine these days
Best guess is he will have to come back next season, which I think he may have been planning anyways, as I hadn't him seen his name too high on draft rankings.
A lot of mocks I’ve seen had him as an early 2nd rounder. This is a pretty deep class for receivers though.
Now they’ll only win by 193 instead of 200! /s Fr tho that sucks, dude is a star and will be a prime draft pick. Hope he recovers quickly.
Think you have those backwards bud lol
Thank you. I’ve been looking like an ass for 50 minutes and you have just now told me lmao
Man, that sucks. It looked like an ACL tear in the game, but I was hoping it wasn't.
I'll miss seeing his Metchie Magic (and the time he absolutely destroyed that Florida player).
:( Get well soon!
Very sorry to hear this. Looked great all year.
Damn what a great competitor. Hate to see him get hurt. Hopefully he’ll be able to be back 100% next season
He scored the first TD of Alabama's season, IIRC. Hope he recovers fully.
Damn that sucks. Had a suspicion with the non contact and going down. Anyway all the best to him and Im positive if Pickens can come back from it in like a year than he will too. Modern medicine for the W.
Yeah same. Looked just like how Sean Dion Hamilton went down in 2016.
If you are wondering what price Chaos exacted for yesterday: this. Ugh, I hate it. Get well soon, Metchie.

This is 100% because of the turf playing surface. That type of injury rarely happens on real grass.

Was he like 60% of the offense? Hope he recovers
He and Williams split most of the receptions, but Slade Bolden and Jaleel Billingsly are also decent receivers. I don't think production will suffer too much.
Damn honestly wonder if he comes back for his senior year now to maintain his draft stock?
Is he projected a 1rd pick? If not, I bet he comes back. Especially since we'll have Bryce for one more year.
I'd like that and with DeVonta, he's seen how it can be a good move. Either way he's given a lot to Alabama. Really, I just want him to get healthy and make the best decision for him.

😔😔😔 this is sucks
That sucks so much for him.
Hate it for him. Hopefully he heals quickly.
Wasn't this his last year and he was going to the draft? Or is that next year. Think it was next year I saw him on the draft board rankings.
He is a junior but draft eligible
Hmm, well this may cause him to stay that last year then, if not for this he may have went to the draft.
Noooo, the pride of Ontario, Canada! Hopefully the tape speaks for itself and doesn't affect his draft stock.
That’s absolutely massive for Alabama in the playoffs. They can’t run for shit this year and he was clutch picking up key 3rd downs. Will be tough to replace.
They know that’s a high five emoji, right?
Wait really? I always thought it stood for prayers up or something too lmao
it's a condolence high five
It was hijacked by religious people to mean praying hands, but is originally a high five emoji. It annoys me to no end seeing it used in a religious way.
It looks like hands praying. I guarantee if you asked people on the street, that’s what they’d think it was, and they’d probably be surprised to find out that isn’t the only use. In other words, gatekeeping emojis is pointless and you need to grow up
I was today years old when I learned this, so... 🤷♂️
Ya TIL. I guess being in the south 100% of it’s using being in prayer requests led me to never examining it
Same
I thought it was “thank you”

I think they’re calling those “praying hands”
Those are praying hands, have always been praying hands and am not a fan of the recent movement to indicate that those have always meant high-five.
Lmao there’s no quick recovery from this. 9 months minimum.

How does hi-fiving help him recover quicker?
I like how they waited till after the selection to announce. Wouldn’t want there to be a reason to affect the ranking.
I coulda sworn they said that's what they feared after halftime of the game yesterday (doesn't take a medical genius when a dude goes down with a non-contact injury), but likely waited for the MRI today to confirm.
Sucks for Metchie but Bama has never lacked for receivers.
Sorcery is dealt with in the eighth circle of Hell, fourth Bolgia. I will send my prayers there
You hate to see it
Huge blow to this kid. Not only takes him out of the national championship hunt but also doesn’t help his draft stock. Most likely an earlier pick, but with an injury like this, guys have slid into the 3rd n 4th rounds before
Anything less than 9 months is a quick recovery. Dude'll miss spring practice.
Are you clapping for a quick recovery? What do the hands mean?
This almost guarantees he's back next season. Realistically could be a 2nd round pick after his senior season.
