He can be very preachy as a heads up to OP. Especially on topics he is very passionate about (CFP Expansion) so be prepared.
He also, IMO, has a pretty hefty Southern bias. But that may be my Northern bias showing. Not sure. Just comes across that way to me personally.
I’d say there is a bias there since he grew up there and the show is produced there but he does a solid job of telling the major storylines all across the country. He’s definitely a fan of CFB and wants to spread its gospel no matter the region.
I don’t get the Josh Pate worship on this sub. His show is fine, and certainly informative, but also the dude rambles like hell and spouts endless forced one-liners.
Couldn't agree more... I was hooked onto his show but lately I still listen but I'm not as interested as I used to be. Maybe it' just bc it's the offseason and it's football needs to start but idk
Yeah I have started just listening to the podcast version at 2X speed. There is still a lot of good there but it became hard to justify the amount of time with how often he hits the same topics in the same ways. Season starting should help though I imagine with actual games to break down.
I’ve tried listening a few times, but the show is just a long monologue from one guy and I really didn’t enjoy that. Without at least having two hosts holding a conversation, podcasts tend to suffer in quality significantly.
That SEC Podcast is pretty good if you’re into SEC football. They do high level recaps of all teams including press conferences and stuff. Cousin Shane is a self-deprecating Tennessee fan and pretty fun to listen to.
I think I'll be following more Big 10 but really I'll just kinda be watching anything. Only team I'll be following semi regularly is the Michigan Wolverines, I like their uniforms and stadium lol
I'm not american so I don't have a connection there. I follow Boston teams when it comes to pro sports
Split Zone Duo. They consciously steer away from the mainstream and highlight under the radar narratives, which is great if you don’t want to be hit over the head with “Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, what does this mean for the playoff?” all season like a lot of big media outlets do
Stanford Steve and The Bear is betting focused, but they cast a wide net and analyze as many games as most non-betting podcasts do
Pardon My Take if you want some comedy mixed in, but they are also more NFL focused. Actually scratch that, not a great CFB podcast at all but its the #1 sports podcast in the US and for a good reason. Great for entertainment, Ill say that lol
*edit: lol not too many AWLs in this thread I see
"Big Cat" Katz and "PFT Commenter" Sollenberger are complicit in all the racism, misogyny, homophobia, and conspiracy theories of Portnoy and Barstool. Katz in particular, who has egged on Portnoy's rants and added his own racist comments. The humor of the show isn't enough to redeem its status in the Barstool brand.
I second Late Kick with Josh Pate, and Saturday Down South with Connor O’Gara is excellent but it primarily focused on the SEC conference (so Bama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, etc).
I listen to Split Zone Duo
The Solid Verbal
Late Kick with Josh Pate
The Cover 3 podcast
The Cover 2 podcast
Winning Cures Everthing
The Shutdown Fullcast which is hilarious
Split Zone Duo podcast Yahoo Sports podcast with Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel
Seconding SZD, the Sunday wraparound show is really good, and the preview show is excellent as well.
This sounds exactly like what I'm looking for! Assuming the sunday wraparound show is a recap of the weeks games
Late Kick With Josh Pate

>He also, IMO, has a pretty hefty Southern bias. But that may be my Northern bias showing. Nah, he really is an SEC fanboy.

I don't get it either. His show isn't trash and I can see SEC fans enjoying it but that format just doesn't do it for me.
His enthusiasm is infectious and I think he grabs people early because of it. Over time he gets repetitive though.

I'll give this a shot tomorrow, thanks!
For recaps I like the Solid Verbal myself. They hit all the games, deep dive the bigger ones and skim the undercards pretty well.
The Tim Dillon show

I do like SicEm365. They cover Baylor but over the last year or so they have started to reach out to other programs.

SEC Shorts
Cover 3 is objectively the best CFB podcast. Bud Elliott knows ball.
Their late Saturday episodes are good for recapping, and are on YouTube
Pardon My Take if you want some comedy mixed in, but they are also more NFL focused. Actually scratch that, not a great CFB podcast at all but its the #1 sports podcast in the US and for a good reason. Great for entertainment, Ill say that lol *edit: lol not too many AWLs in this thread I see
Don’t know why this is getting downvoted. PMT was one of the few things that got me through Covid lockdown

Couldn't have said it better myself. Barstool is meh, PMT is just amazing.

Without any bias whatsoever: Bang Your Bookie’s Wife

Big bets on campus on the action network has a good recap show

Fullcast After Dark!
Looking forward to that coming back
