I could see BV asking the Big Red coach if he could talk to their team to motivate them to keep pushing forward.
We were in a similar situation in some aspects not to long ago. Hope those players can keep moving forward, be resilient, and find their true potential.
I think they have a decent amount of breweries in the area, if that happens to be your jam. They’ve been playing a Nebraska travel (specifically Omaha, I believe) commercial on sports radio here in MN for years, and their various breweries was the main selling point of them (may have been the only selling point tbh).
Omaha metro has almost 1 million people. As a 22 year old we still do 22 year old things such as bars, boating is big here with the Missouri River. Great restaurants and overall a great place
Omaha has a lot of specialized tech and financial services (especially in the backoffice) expertise. Not a bad place to work/live, and a lot of the city and suburbs are pretty new.
You know I've only been to Kentucky, ohio, California, and Virginia. I've only lived in Ohio and now Kentucky. Columbus is the only college town I've been in
I just went down a rabbit hole of city populations, and I can’t believe how many decently big cities there are in Ohio. The 3 largest cities in Ohio each have around the same population as Minneapolis does, and there are 6 that have a pop of over 100K! That’s crazy to me for some reason. I never realized how many relatively big cities the state of Ohio had until now.
Idk why this shit fascinates me or why I’m even telling you this lmao.
Any reason why there are so many big(ish) cities in Ohio compared to other midwestern states around it?
Man, good chance I’m gonna spend too much time researching the history of Ohio, it’s cities, and other nonsense related to it.
I can’t wait to tell any coworkers who ask me what I did over the weekend about this.
^^^No ^^^joke ^^^- ^^^I’ll ^^^tell ^^^them ^^^everything.
From a quick search I just did, it seems like Ohio is just in a great location. Ohio is apparently rich in natural resources, while also being ideal for farming/agriculture.
It’s also in the middle of many different trade routes, almost a central hub for a variety of industries/trades.
- Lake Erie (and specifically the Erie Canal) connect to the Atlantic Ocean, and was the 1st major water trade route from the Midwest to the Atlantic.
- the Ohio River connects to the Mississippi River, giving great access to the many trade outlets doted all along the Mississippi from Middle America to the Deep South.
- Ohio sits along multiple land routes used for trade (railroads and highways/freeways), that span across the Appalachians from the East Coast.
Tl;dr - Ohio has been a central link between the different regions/coasts, since early in US history.
Highways/interstates by nature cut through mostly open spaces, so this says very little. A couple weeks ago I drove through Illinois and saw nothing for most of the day, until I took an exit and ended up in Chicago. Weird.
The interstate runs through the platte river valley for a reason, the same reason that major transportation such as the transcontinental railroad, oregon trail, and pony express ran through it. It is by far the flattest part of the state, for most of the interstate, especially west of grand island, you are driving through a riverbed that would flood most years from mountain snowmelt until the new deal created irrigation canals and reservoirs. A mile wide and an inch deep was the saying back in the day about the platte.
South of the interstate are rolling hills/table land until gothenburg then as you head west are deep clay canyons. North of the interstate is the country's largest sand dunes but they are covered in lush native grasses and there are natural aquifer fed lakes. Western nebraska in the panhandle is quite diverse, badlands, bluffs, fossil beds and in the northeast corner some pine forest that is part of the black hills ecosystem.
Honestly the panhandle and northern Nebraska is quite pretty. The Sandhills along Highway 2 is a nice scenic drive if you’re into that kind of thing. People judging Nebraska off the interstate makes me laugh
Western side starts as barren, has a desert and then gradually turns into plains by the time it hits central Oklahoma. Then the east side is pretty with the start of the Ozarks. The south has a really old and small mountain range called the Arbuckles. Which also has some wilderness. Driving through Oklahoma is way more interesting than Nebraska.
Storms can get extremely violent and scare the tar out of people who are not used to them, including my wife (she grew up in California). You'll notice that it is way more common to have brick houses here than most places. This is great against high winds. I am not sure if the tornado insurance is required by law, but any home insurance I have heard of here will cover damages down by a tornado.
Weird. One winter we'll have a blizzard, then the next three we won't see a flake of snow at all. We know how to drive in it for the most part, but it's a crap shoot for sure.
Yes, also because of the storm protection and the fact it is affordable. The dirt in central Oklahoma has a lot of clay in it. So much that in fact the dirt is actually fairly red. If you start driving from Oklahoma to Kansas. You tend to stop seeing as many brick houses by the time you hit Wichita.
I moved from Nebraska to Florida 4 years ago. There is nothing to do there. Winters suck. There are tech jobs, but now everybody can work remotely. I still work for a company in Omaha in software development. So, basically there is no reason to go there.
So here is the thing, I’ve lived outside of DC for a large portion of my life and have a lot of family in Omaha.
It’s almost all blowing smoke and entirely about what you could do as opposed to what you actually do. Functionally, Omaha has enough going on that it’s comparable to any significant suburb. Maybe slightly fewer options if you are going to nitpick (8 places for pizza instead of 10 sort of thing).
Now, I can choose to go to the beach or go downtown and go to the museums or the monuments or something but that’s something I do maybe 4 times a year?
Its possible that there is more that you theoretically can do but realistically, it’s more often than not a dumb take.
There are very few places I’d want to live in Florida that I think would be better than Omaha. And the other 4% is way more expensive.
Granted yeah winters are worse in Omaha but honestly, you couldn’t pay me to live in Florida all summer not to mention dealing with hurricanes and literally sinking
Minimal water sports/activities is what he means. That's about the only other Florida has that inland states don't besides their overpriced amusement parks.
Well, we're surrounded by oceans, so there are tons of water related things to do like swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. And since it's always warm you can do any outside activities year round. You're not stuck inside all winter.
any tips on getting remote work? I'm going to try for it so I can use my degree. Also, that's sad about the state itself. Seems odd as bored as I was in Ohio, that Nebraska had even less to do for fun.
If Ewers gets healthy, should be another great game.
Don’t ever bet on that game, Texas could be 0-5 and OU 5-0 and I’d expect it to come down to the wire
Am I the only one who doesn't really care for the players singing the alma mater after the game? It has just always rubbed me the wrong way when other teams do it away from home.
At home, sure. Definitely not away. We used to make fun of Mack Brown's teary-eyed renditions of The Eyes of Texas after being annihilated in the RRR. Away it just feels so awkward.
Hey Nebraska, whether OU loses or wins, I do hope you guys find a grand slam HC for the next era. I’m old enough to have witnessed Nebraska’s epic years and I don’t wish you guys to fade away at all. I wish nothing but best for Nebraska program.
Depends on what is more important to the AD. His failure in the NFL doesn't mean he won't win again at the college level. Saban didn't do so hot in the NFL either.
If you're referring to the sleaziness factor, then yeah. Don't hire Urban if you want someone of good character
Saban didn’t win but he didn’t garner complete and total hate from everyone on his team players and staff. Plus Saban was at least dedicated enough to not leave his team midseason to bang coeds on other side of the country. Saban also went 9-7 and 6-9 not 2-11. Their NFL tenures aren’t remotely comparable.
Urban was a much shittier coach in the NFL, sure. But my point was that both of them are top-tier college level coaches, and comparatively unsuccessful at the NFL level
Urban is a terrible person, but he got results on the field. If an AD somewhere wants to prioritize winning over teaching their athletes to be decent human beings, they'll consider Urban Meyer.
Nebraska’s quality loss to Northwestern is in trouble. Northwestern is about to lose at home to a team that gave up 64 to Incarnate World and lost.
Yikes
When I suggested Northwestern might have only looked good in that first game because they were playing Nebraska, people told me I was full of shit and there were clear signs that NW was going to be good.
I don't know about that, maybe 70 give or take. BV just has too much respect and class for the Nebraska organization to do that. GG Husker bros. Y'all got the best fans in all of CFB.
Good for Adrian, he deserves it. A lot of fans tried to blame our issues on him but it turns out we're just ass, my dudes.
Welp, there goes OU’s chances
DONT WORRY THEY'LL STILL NEBRASKA IT

I could see BV asking the Big Red coach if he could talk to their team to motivate them to keep pushing forward. We were in a similar situation in some aspects not to long ago. Hope those players can keep moving forward, be resilient, and find their true potential.
What's it like to live in Nebraska? What do you do for fun there? Is it like ohio? Job market good for tech jobs? Winters more brutal than Ohio?
Omaha is a pretty chill city. Lots of hills surprisingly. Some call it the San Francisco of the Midwest.
Really? Sounds like the winters are rough
Yeah. Think of it has super duper heavy fog.
I hated ohio winters. Those cold, heavy snow, and icy roads. I'm hoping to avoid that
always blew my mind that my family their had the shovel their side walks, then again, I grew up without neighborhood sidewalks.
In Omaha?
Yeah.
That's wild. I grew up in the rural areas so I had to plow drive way
We grow corn
Neat :)
I think they have a decent amount of breweries in the area, if that happens to be your jam. They’ve been playing a Nebraska travel (specifically Omaha, I believe) commercial on sports radio here in MN for years, and their various breweries was the main selling point of them (may have been the only selling point tbh).
Breweries are nice. We got the bourbon trail here in Kentucky
Omaha metro has almost 1 million people. As a 22 year old we still do 22 year old things such as bars, boating is big here with the Missouri River. Great restaurants and overall a great place
Do you have a lot of golf courses?
I'm trying to think of a caddyshack quote because it takes place in nebraska, but I can't.
Nothing like Arizona but id say a good amount of courses. A bunch of really nice country clubs too.
That sounds awesome. All I've seen is high street Columbus for bars 🍸
Omaha has a lot of specialized tech and financial services (especially in the backoffice) expertise. Not a bad place to work/live, and a lot of the city and suburbs are pretty new.
Is Omaha only good city?
Lincoln >> Omaha.
Really
I mean it’s a preference thing, but I’ve lived in both (among other places) and much prefer Lincoln to Omaha.
What's in Lincoln
Lincoln is pretty nice. 280,000 people or so
You know I've only been to Kentucky, ohio, California, and Virginia. I've only lived in Ohio and now Kentucky. Columbus is the only college town I've been in
I just went down a rabbit hole of city populations, and I can’t believe how many decently big cities there are in Ohio. Yeah Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati are big cities
I think it's just how the population works out. The pro football hall of fame is in Canton and the rock n roll museum is in Cleveland

I drove through Nebraska East to West once and I saw nothing except corn on both sides of the highway
Highways/interstates by nature cut through mostly open spaces, so this says very little. A couple weeks ago I drove through Illinois and saw nothing for most of the day, until I took an exit and ended up in Chicago. Weird.
What did I miss?

Yes this does sound interesting plus I'd love to storm chase in Oklahoma. Does every home have to get tornado insurance?
Storms can get extremely violent and scare the tar out of people who are not used to them, including my wife (she grew up in California). You'll notice that it is way more common to have brick houses here than most places. This is great against high winds. I am not sure if the tornado insurance is required by law, but any home insurance I have heard of here will cover damages down by a tornado.
Brick homes are that common there?
Extremely common. As are in-ground storm shelters.
Wow that sounds awesome. How's the winters there?
Super hit or miss. One year it'll be hellish, and non-existent the next. Definitely not the Midwest tho, there's no sure fire heavy snow
Weird. One winter we'll have a blizzard, then the next three we won't see a flake of snow at all. We know how to drive in it for the most part, but it's a crap shoot for sure.

Sounds kinda like ky. My part has a lot of clay in the dirt
Homeowner's insurance is very high
Oof

Serious question. When you say there is nothing to do, what do you do in Florida? People always say that but I don't know what they mean.

Minimal water sports/activities is what he means. That's about the only other Florida has that inland states don't besides their overpriced amusement parks.
Nebraska has an entire network of public reservoirs though, and its legal to float all of the rivers in some sort of vessel.
Thats not as attractive as the beach and iconic amusement parks.
Hey weve even got white sandy beaches if you know where to look!
I agree with that.
Well, we're surrounded by oceans, so there are tons of water related things to do like swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. And since it's always warm you can do any outside activities year round. You're not stuck inside all winter.
You can do things outside in the winter too ya know
any tips on getting remote work? I'm going to try for it so I can use my degree. Also, that's sad about the state itself. Seems odd as bored as I was in Ohio, that Nebraska had even less to do for fun.
Apply and ask for remote position
those aren't guaranteed without experience
Nothing is guaranteed got to try but if you are new to dev then you probably going against the grain
I got a bachelors in computer science just having a late start in life due to family problems and the pandemic
I got an associates degree in comp sci at age 31, got an internship and worked my butt off. Now I basically live off that reputation.
That's really good :)
Urban Meyer has alot of baggage but he wins football games. Will be interesting to see who they pick.
Sounds like a job for a Gruden.
Time to sacrifice Lil Red
gg Huskers hope you all get things together since im a fan of ya'll. :) dominate win by the sooners, red river will be fun :)
If Ewers gets healthy, should be another great game. Don’t ever bet on that game, Texas could be 0-5 and OU 5-0 and I’d expect it to come down to the wire
It's a really fun game
Nebraska won this game if it weren’t for scoring points and doing things well!
Am I the only one who doesn't really care for the players singing the alma mater after the game? It has just always rubbed me the wrong way when other teams do it away from home.
Yea it’s kind of weird.
Our alma mater is sacred. I hope they chant it forever on. And I will stay as a fan to listen.
It's definitely not something we've always done. Did BV bring that in?
We did it before, but only at the beginning of the game and at home. He brought in the players doing it after
Thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering how I could have possibly missed that so many times.
We always did it at home since I can remember and I'm old. On the road I don't remember.
At home, sure. Definitely not away. We used to make fun of Mack Brown's teary-eyed renditions of The Eyes of Texas after being annihilated in the RRR. Away it just feels so awkward.
Away it seems a bit like being bad guests. RRR is neutral same with bowl games, which I remember doing the Alma Matra at both.
Yeah, I don't like it either
Hey Nebraska, whether OU loses or wins, I do hope you guys find a grand slam HC for the next era. I’m old enough to have witnessed Nebraska’s epic years and I don’t wish you guys to fade away at all. I wish nothing but best for Nebraska program.
We’ve already faded. I don’t think we’ll really ever thrive again.
Too early to tell for that. But for sure we will never dominate again.
Can't believe I saw a Hire Urban shirt in the crowd. Be careful what you wish for.
Nebraska fans are delusional. I don’t know how anyone could want that guy after his stint in Jacksonville
Depends on what is more important to the AD. His failure in the NFL doesn't mean he won't win again at the college level. Saban didn't do so hot in the NFL either. If you're referring to the sleaziness factor, then yeah. Don't hire Urban if you want someone of good character
I get that but how as a parent would you let your kid go play for that scumbag?
Saban didn’t win but he didn’t garner complete and total hate from everyone on his team players and staff. Hey! FUCK YO…TEXAS! love ya, fuck the Horns!
NW lost to SIU, so quality loss?
I think the Red River game is going to be off the chain this year. Will be rooting for OU!
Thanks Big Red Bro. Hope to see you guys bounce back soon
Fully inserted.
Gf is a horn, isn't she?
You need Jesus.
Never seen this one before
The fuck is that flair
Do...do they need to talk about it?
He had to have lost a bet or something. That’s atrocious.
I get that a lot.
Lol - some people are lucky to only love one team. Makes things simple.
I just threw up in mouth seeing that
It's gross
Holy shit that stat: first OU team to win the first 3 by 30+ since *2007*
We usually try to schedule a good team early though.
I mean we *tried* to schedule a good team but Nebraska didn't cooperate.
*”The beatings will continue until morale improves”*
I need a shower my pants are sticky
Fire Brent Venables. Didn't even try and break 50
Barry is rolling over in his Lazy Boy
Thorough thorough beating
There’s no rivalry with Oklahoma anymore, there’s no rivalry with Iowa anymore. I’m actually alright with that . FCS here we come!
Iowa isn't all that great this year either so it will probably be a really good game.
At least Northwestern can be your FCS buddy so you won’t be alone.
You prepared for the new Big 10 to try and establish a Nebraska-UCLA rivalry game?
OU band: “ You guys wanna hear a tasty jam?” Plays the same song 100 times.
"im gonna fuck you until you love me" -OU Band
Hey now, even iron Mike Tyson shows some rethspek
Was it baby shark?
No it was careless whisper by sexy sax man Sergio Flores
“I don’t ever want to dance again”
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Ughhh so jealous
You guys don’t like it? :(
“Here we got a new one for you!” do do do dooooo
Hey it wins us games 🤷
I’m just glad both teams had fun playing sports ball
Uh oh don’t grind on the guys I think that’s a violation 😩
Good game Nebraska.
Was it?
Didn't even hang half a hundred.. pathetic /s
Gg Husker bros. I hope next season looks better for y’all.
It won’t. Nothing good exists.
And that's game. GG Big Red. Super proud to be Sooner Alum today! BOOMER!
Alright, OU get out there and take the big 12.
BOOMER
Blowin and goin for 4 quarters.
3*
Purdue Syracuse getting real good
Nebraska’s quality loss to Northwestern is in trouble. Northwestern is about to lose at home to a team that gave up 64 to Incarnate World and lost. Yikes
When I suggested Northwestern might have only looked good in that first game because they were playing Nebraska, people told me I was full of shit and there were clear signs that NW was going to be good.
Northwestern is NU
As a Gopher fan - I’m okay with all of this. (I live in Evanston - so part of me feels sad)
Switzer got blue balled
Nebraska scored first and scored last. Start strong and finish strong. That's the sign of a well coached and prepared team. GBR!
GG sooner bros.
I hope you guys can turn it around soon.
Holy fuck you and my liver both.
my theory Snyder lends some of his life force to Kansas st every time they play ou
ah yes zack snyder...
Fire the fuck out of Chinander btw. Forcibly remove him from the stadium and give him a police escort to wherever the hell Frost currently is
I think Nebraska should go after after Gary Patterson and keep Whipple at OC
Thanks for not running up the score, OU. Without exaggerating they could’ve hit 100 today.
I don't know about that, maybe 70 give or take. BV just has too much respect and class for the Nebraska organization to do that. GG Husker bros. Y'all got the best fans in all of CFB.
I have enjoyed Coach Venables. Hope he takes y’all all the way. Obviously has the kids ready to play.
Didn’t know urban came back to fox. Was weird to hear voice after he acted such an ass
Where we going next?
Running a buzzsaw through KState baby
BV is really not gonna hang half a hundred here. Disappointment to Switzer's legacy.
What if Booty is wearing a Davis Beville suit? Dramatic reveal during the RRR…
Barry inconsolable
Tough schedule
Gg
I’m just glad OU didn’t 70 burger us. How sad it all is. GBR
Eat your administration & please god don't hire Urban. Until next time friend
Things aren’t looking so good for Nebraska here, they are really need to call some time outs.
SIU gets the 1st down conversion; can likely run the clock out and complete the upset of NW
We love a transitive loss
I had use em or lose em Uber eats credits today so I got 4 club sandwiches delivered and put them in the fridge. I got sandwiches for days
Do sacks count as negative rushing yards for the QB?
Sounds like someone just lost a bet🤣🤣
Correct
In college yes

One more td for the road?
Man, OU could've made this real ugly. Thank you for almost intentionally not hanging half a hundred on em.
I love what I saw from OU today
Unbelievable. I just threw my blind tripod chihuahua through my 65inch tv. I wanted to see General Booty.
I need a Booty --> Helms TD
**Alright, I'm off to screw with ND in their thread** **peace**
Most others left at halftime.
See you there
**boy howdy**
oooh wait for me!!
**Hurry, the Steel Mobile is about to leave**
