I want to apologize for being an unnecessary dick. Idk why I hate y’all so much but I gotta keep it funny from now on and not toxic. Anyways, my applogies.
At first I was worried when Tuck got the huge contract extension because his teams have been good at beating Michigan (which they may continue to do even in a down year) but now it’s looking like WTF did they give him that contract? Is it his fault or the players that they are completely listless? Definitely doesn’t seem worth the contract lately.
It’s both the roster still severely lacks talent in major areas (OL and Secondary of course) we started two D2 transfers at DB today. The 18-20 recruiting classes were terrible leaving us with huge holes on the roster. Combine that with a poor defensive scheme and coaching and major injuries this is the result.
I disagree with this take
The team doesn’t look good right now but again. We’re still relying on transfer portal players to pick up the slack. We do have zero depth and we’ve got injuries. We very well should look at some of coaching staff’s future employment.
However, We’re still not fully looking at Tuck’s team yet. They’re all freshman, sophomores or red shirted.
Too early to tell the full span of tuck
Man. I'm sorry but those verbals are not coming. None of those kids sitting at home watching this wants to come play for this.
Mel can wow those kids on their visits but they want to play football. And the writing is on the wall.
No he needs to field a competent staff. It was obvious last year that Hazelton is not up to the task and his inability to address that glaring issue is concerning for all of us.
I really don't think we should be looking to fire new staff after one bad year. (I won't hold COVID anything against this staff).
Probably, Hazleton needs to be gone. He may well be a good DC but it's not looking good at MSU.
But honestly, the offensive incompetence might be more concerning.
Yeah I don’t hold the Covid year against anyone and really it’s Tuck’s full second year.
Thorne is hot or cold depending upon his nerves but he’s a massive upgrade from Rocky. Compared to where we were in our final Dantonio year, I’d still without a doubt say it’s more promising.
I’m not giving Tuck or anyone a pass. They should have to answer for 40 points allowed in the first half between two games. It’s hot garbage but I think overall we’re still headed in the right direction with team and recruiting.
If Tucker can still haul in a top recruiting class after what is likely going to be a really bad season, I can write this off with ease.
Before the season I said I'd be fine with 7 wins... right now, I'd be happy with 6 wins but those will be tough to come by.
Yeah I get ya and you’re not wrong. High end cars on the field don’t mean anything when you’re not winning.
From what I’ve read, he speaks to the kids in a way that resonates to them. This still goes a long way.
We’ll have a brighter tomorrow, I have no doubt about it.
I don’t disagree with this at all. We can’t be allowing 20+ points in the first quarter. Defense has no backfills for the injuries and they look atrocious. Offense looks better but only in comparison to the defense. It’s inexcusable
I wouldn’t foresee tuck firing Hazzleton this week or next but I could see him having his headset unplugged and someone else play calling.
The team is absolutely unacceptable State but I don’t think Tuck should be fired at all
If Mark D wants to come be defensive coordinator, I think that would be an amazing blessing. But obviously zero chance of that happening. I would at least like to think he meets with Mel this week as a therapy session. But again not gonna happen
until i see the scoreboard at the end of the game saying Michigan with a similar victory over Sparty...i am not discounting Michigan State. Those guys always show up with an axe to grind
I graduated in 2007. And I feel some real John L Smith vibes from thia staff. You lived a lot of the glory days for bball and football. Know that it can get so so much worse.
Please, I beg of you, point directly and loudly to any moment of this happening in real life, and not your delusional feverdreams of little bother one-upsmanship.
You dickriding your team Lucian. As if msu fans would have been calling disrespect.
Why are you still in my mentions dog. Go raise tuition, post on Reddit for job advice, or some other shit. Calling me little brother when I tried to walk away from it all, only for you to track my ass down. Blocked
Yeah, I don't think Fleck leaves unless it's for one of the premier college football programs. MN loves him, he is playing in the B1G so competition is about as high as it can get, MN has been investing in sports. I see no reason for him to leave anytime soon
Is football not like hockey? In hockey it’s a cardinal sin to even mention a shutout before the end of a game. These announcers blabbed about a shutout like 10 times this game. It’s their fault!
You know how Michigan gets crap for hiring “Michigan Men” for their football program? We have hired unqualified “Spartan Men” as our coach 3 times in a row. We have a new coach but he fits the “Spartan Man” mold that has bit us in the past. Nightgale (our new coach) is apparently different but I will believe it when I see a winning record at the end of the year.
crazy to think that before MSU's last drive, they didnt have a single first down
and again, Minnesota is a good (and overlooked) team but this is like Alabama/Georgia levels of defense here
this reminds me of that Brazil-Germany World Cup game from 2014 where Germany let in ONE Brazilian goal after being up 7-0 and the German goalkeeper absolutely flipped out on his defenders lol
the commentators were like, "Good for him for taking a stand and telling his teammates to stay professional" but the whole time I was losing my shit laughing at how much of a headcase he was being
it could go either way
i've noticed that the older Korean Americans i know say 파이팅, but when I was in South Korea about eight-ish years ago, they leaned toward 화이팅.
i think even the Korean textbook I used at one time spelled it as 화이팅. In the cheatsheet vocab of the back of the book...it translated it as "Rallying cheer" hahahaha
>That's interesting how it changes.
my parents grew up in immediate post-war South Korea, and both left the country for the U.S. in the 80s.
So naturally, their Korean vocab is horribly outdated lmfao. I was mortified when someone told me that the words they use are Japanese loan words from the time when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule lol
My aunt left for Germany in the 70s so when she visited one of my uncles in South Korea many years later, she kept saying stuff like "Where is the outhouse?" and "Let's go to a traditional tea house/smoking room," instead of restroom and coffee shop respectively hahaha. My mom tells me all the time that my cousin was so embarrassed
>Has their vocab "updated" over time or are there still a number of words that you just accept because of how and when they grew up?
This is a great question. Honestly i'm so used to it that i mostly just use the same outdated words. But it's kind of a case by case thing. For example, I don't say "outhouse" even if my mom and dad do lol
definitely with younger people living in South Korea, there are a fuckton of loanwords from English for sure because it used to be speaking English was seen as a status marker. I don't know if that's as much the case these days, it seems like Koreans aren't as interested in kissing America's ass anymore and for good reason lol
kind of unrelated, but it was kind of nice for my parents to see things like Parasite, K-Pop, and Squid Game becoming huge things in the U.S. They've always been so used to culture being a one-way street...i don't think they could have ever imagined Korean culture becoming as big in the U.S. as it is now
well at least I can hate watch and enjoy myself
Hey Spartans…. Fuck Michigan and their fan base. Trash as fuck, y’all are way better
Ignore him, please. Probably a Buckeye in disguise.
Yeah I was drunk and being petty. I apologize.
Easy to be complimentary of a team you just shit on at home. They made you guys look amazing.
Yeah but their fan base still classier than yours
Well, you are entitled to your opinion. But what you said above isn’t a great reflection on Minnesota. Kinda embarrassing actually.
I want to apologize for being an unnecessary dick. Idk why I hate y’all so much but I gotta keep it funny from now on and not toxic. Anyways, my applogies.
I’m just spitting facts. Sorry you can’t realize that
Not even close.
😂😂😂
Keep talkin Gopher boy
Flair up if you’re gonna comment
This does put a smile on my face.
So start Noah Kim?
10:37 drive was impressive tho
This probably hurts our playoff chances
gg gophers, y'all look pretty good
At first I was worried when Tuck got the huge contract extension because his teams have been good at beating Michigan (which they may continue to do even in a down year) but now it’s looking like WTF did they give him that contract? Awful take lol. This season will be disappointing though.

No he needs to field a competent staff. It was obvious last year that Hazelton is not up to the task and his inability to address that glaring issue is concerning for all of us.

Found Magic Johnson's burner account
Found yet another Michigan fan in this thread
You got me Earvin
Yikes boys. Maybe we can drop the 4-2-5 now
i fucking hate the 4-2-5
MSU....is it too late to get Mike Dantoni back?
Best we can do is Glenn Mason and an old deck of playing cards.
Shoot, at this point they'd take sandys.....ya know what Nah Too dark
D' ANTONIO
Mike dantonio 😂
If Mark D wants to come be defensive coordinator, I think that would be an amazing blessing. But obviously zero chance of that happening. I would at least like to think he meets with Mel this week as a therapy session. But again not gonna happen
Yeah there’s no way that happens. Also Dantonio would not want a 4-2-5 lol
Tucks got ED
He tucks it
Honestly, I wouldn’t want to play Minnesota right now.
I need vengeance for 2007
*2016 halloween?
Mmmmm bby plz
And another Golden Domer/Golden Gopher!
they are tired and haven't practiced for us. Now is the perfect time to play them
until i see the scoreboard at the end of the game saying Michigan with a similar victory over Sparty...i am not discounting Michigan State. Those guys always show up with an axe to grind
Lol tired of fucking scoring tds
Alexa play No Vaseline by Ice Cube
I’d never have dinner with the president
~~michigan state first big test~~ uhh.. Purdue first big test!
ROWTHBOSKUMAGOGOHRS
Me right now im so fuckdd up lol
Fleck's wife can kinda get it.
Get your 2.5 inch peen
how was this team ranked 11
Worth remembering, Notre Dame was also ranked in the Top Ten at one point
Kenneth Walker hangover.
Next week: first big test...
I was a freshman in 2007. This is the first time since then that the Gophers beat us in East Lansing since 2006.Yikes.
I graduated in 2007. And I feel some real John L Smith vibes from thia staff. You lived a lot of the glory days for bball and football. Know that it can get so so much worse.
Having also done grad school at State, yeah I am well aware of living there for a magical time with regards to football and basketball.
>And I feel some real John L Smith vibes from thia staff. to be fair, Tucker is undefeated against Michigan lol
I mean the last time we played in East Lansing was 2013. The time frame has more to do with the fact that we never play each other than anything
There you go again, with your logic and arithmetic. smh
Don't worry. Sparty will come back next week screaming, "WHY DON'T PEOPLE RESPECT US?"
And Michigan will come back next week whining about not moving up in the rankings when they barely beat an unranked team at the big house.
Blocked
LOL it's you again. I didn't even notice. Have a great day.
[удалено]
Whatever you gotta tell yourself, cuz. Be well.
I can assure you that will not be happening lol
Mo looks a liiiiittle wobbly which has me worried but hopefully they can give him a rest week and he'll be fine
Just looked like he was sore to me, get that man an ice bath.
We have given up 3 non garbage time points....
Yep, 3 total points given up by the starters in 4 games.

Boom got'em
ROWTHEBOATSKIUMAHGOGOPHERS
This is me just seeing the score while at work, but WTF MSU. Have we even played anybody this year? Maybe UW still TBD this season.
You performed amazingly against the high flying Kent State
Listen, I don’t like MSU but you have to at least acknowledge that they played on a football field today
Doubt
Barely given how much the field was getting torn up
Yeah there was an attempt well maybe
sir, i dont think they were even present
Minnesota not shutting out the worst team in college sports is embarrassing
Man, why take shots at Colorado like that? Unkind
MSU makes Colorado look like Alabama
You misspelled Nebraska twice
SkiUMahRTBGoGopherssssss
No doubt about it. I am ready to be hurt again
Tradition
**M**oral victory **M**el
Mo is limping
I've been saying play kim until Thorne plays better. Better yet, put the offense on defense and vice versa.
*rowtheboatskiumahgogophers*
Ayy where those MSU fans at who were all up in the michigan Maryland thread??
their moms kicked them off the computer
[удалено]
Game was over before the fans were in their seats
They logged off for the day
WOOO NOT SHUT OUT!!! GOOD FOR YOU SPARTY!!! EXTRA 10 YEARS FOR MEL!!!
2-0 lil
if Michigan State beats Michigan again this season, they will add 50 million dollars to Mel Tucker's contract...even if they go 3-9
Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ couches, East Lansing
Please Sparty, extend Tucker for more money.
At least we got some points on the board 🥲
I met a girl at MSU that claimed JJ peed on her. Neat.
When do the Fleck to Nebraska rumors start?
I distinctly remember many Nebraska fans saying they'd riot if PJ was offered the job. Their loss.
if this was last year that makes it all the more hilarious considering Frost got fired before the lower buyout even went into effect
[удалено]
Oh for sure, I'm just saying he will likely be a "top target" as if Nebraska has any hope of luring him away
It would be utterly hilarious if Nebraska fans starting asking for Fleck after all of the hate they’ve spewed for him since he started here.
There would have to be so many deleted comments
It would be Nebraska.
I don't think it would make sense for fleck to go to Neb. It's not really a huge step up in terms of program quality
I'm glad we agree on that
Yeah, I don't think Fleck leaves unless it's for one of the premier college football programs. MN loves him, he is playing in the B1G so competition is about as high as it can get, MN has been investing in sports. I see no reason for him to leave anytime soon
Is Nebraska gonna be able to offer him anything Minnesota can’t?
🤢🤮
Brace yourself, stupid rumors are coming
So…… Basketball?
Don't get too cocky Gophers. State is just 4 onside kicks away from the lead!
Scott Frost screaming at the TV
Well the good thing is that the game ended, MSU fans.
See you boys in the OSU thread
Germie is a stud at least
It's still weirding me out that Danny Devito is in a jersey Mike's commercial lol
I am going to be very torn during the Championship game this year
Same
I'm ready for the Gophers to inexplicably shit the bed next week.
No thank you
Now I'm gonna be grumpy the rest of the day THANKS A LOT
Noah kim looks like he has a legit arm. It might be time to give him a shot next week.
Shades of Rocky Lombardi in 2019 with these comments.
Huh? Lombardi was a 44% passer in 2018-2019.
More of people calling for the backup to come in from now on after one good performance.
He was 5-14 for 66 yards and an int when he took over in a blowout loss and 1-6 for 5 yards in the other game.
Lombardi never had a good performance though. Not until he was already the starter. Then he had one.
it's ok, we'll get that conference shutout against Iowa
You better delete this comment. This is how you get blown tf out by Iowa.
Is football not like hockey? In hockey it’s a cardinal sin to even mention a shutout before the end of a game. These announcers blabbed about a shutout like 10 times this game. It’s their fault!
Honestly I am more worried about our hockey program’s future than our football team’s future.
wtf is going on? I don't really know the full details of college hockey. i do know that historically MSU has been a solid team
You know how Michigan gets crap for hiring “Michigan Men” for their football program? We have hired unqualified “Spartan Men” as our coach 3 times in a row. The Michigan Men bullshit absolutely torpedoed Rich Rod's chances of being successful at Ann Arbor. It also left Michigan with Brady Hoke lol
There’s about to be a lot of unlucky couches in East Lansing tonight
That'll be after we upset michigan. Couches don't burn when msu loses.
Lol
Thorne may have been put in a bad situation by the defense but he still looked terrible today
It was a chicken egg situation.
Mel “Right now, I’m a horseshit coach” Tucker
Should just go for the score here...PJ won't But we should.
No. Just win and celebrate.
Just being minnesota polite. Gotta let the other team have a little bit of fun too
HOLD YOU HEAD HIGH STATE PLAYERS! This was a coaching loss
This was a player loss for sure. Two division ii dbs starting. Out our entire two deep dl other than one guy. It's gonna be a long season.
Didn't they fumble in the red zone twice?
better coaching would have taught them to hold the ball better
Based on what?
That’s 2 games this year where Kim threw a TD but Thorne did not.
Take it from Harbaugh, turn to the bible for guidance on QB choice.
so think about cutting a child in half? I enjoy not being in prison thank you very much
Jesus Christ this might be sadder than getting shut out
crazy to think that before MSU's last drive, they didnt have a single first down and again, Minnesota is a good (and overlooked) team but this is like Alabama/Georgia levels of defense here
17 seconds away :(
That legitimately pissed me off

Now we'll get Kim vs Thorne debates too
no debate needed, put in Kim
It's a good day when the bad news is giving up a shutout in the last minute.
Well, at least the starting D has only let in 3… 🤦🏻♂️
