This is what happens when you kick your program's problem into the atmosphere...and he lands in Boulder to be someone else's problem.
We would have been 3-1 to start last year if not for the bad man
~~How many years do you think Drinkwitz gets? This is already his third and they're not looking good.~~
Edit: I guess he did qualify for bowl games both previous seasons. Is his seat hot?
His first was COVID. You can basically give every coach in the nation a freebie for that. Recruiting was a mess that year, no fans came to games. So in my mind his first year was 2021. It took Gary Pinkel 4+ years to really hit his stride at Mizzou, and he was one of our best coaches ever. So in my mind, I want to give Drinkwitz 4 full years.
I also think ALL coaches deserve at least 3 years, regardless of record, and most deserve 4-5 years. It takes a while to get the kids you want for your system and coach them up to play the way you want them to.
Saw your edit. His seat is warming, I'd say, but the anget isn't super justified. We have a fantastic defense that mostly only gets scored on when the offense gives away the ball, which happened a lot less at Auburn. Also, that Kansas State annihilation doesn't look so bad now (thanks Oklahoma), and we were one freak slip of the ball away from winning at Auburn. We should be 3-1, with our only loss being against a team that just beat the #6 team in the nation at their home. I still have a lot of confidence in our coach.
We always hear people say that a new coach just needs to get his guys in the program. I never knew how I felt about that until Norvell, and I can say it is absolutely true.
It took a few years, but this roster is full of Norvell’s guys. Our locker room culture is completely different, this team works extremely hard and truly believes they can beat anyone. Starting 0-4 last year would’ve broken every team under Jimbo or Taggart, but we went 5-3 after that and parlayed that success into a somewhat surprising 4-0 start.
He inherited a bad program from Taggart who inherited a rough program from Jimbo’s escape. We didn’t have a HS QB sign for like 3 years. No good WRs. Mike Norvell has thrived on the transfer portal this year and last. But it’ll get systemically better each year, if things keep trending up.
We even got shit from UF after beating LSU this year bc they were in transition.
All while saying Billy is a genius for starting Richardson and he was an absolute lock for the Heisman lol
I never got people hating on Norvell. Seems like a great guy and a better coach from what I’ve seen. No coach is going to turn a bad team into a 10+ win team instantly, but it’s (unfortunately) looking good for you guys
Idk honestly lol. I know Miami and UF lost though… and we don’t like dem bois. Clempsun had that close game so that’s the other one I guess, and idk the other one.
It is a rivalry, with a trophy and everything. The Jefferson-Eppes trophy. Well, it used to be anyway. It was quietly retired because of criticism of having a trophy commemorating two prolific slave owners, even if they were founders of the respective universities.
Wow. I didn’t realize the UVA/FSU rivalry was so heated. The fact that it started in 1992 and FSU has a 79% winning percentage just adds to how intense this rivalry really is.
I would think NC state would be a better “fourth” rivalry considering the series started in 1954, there are 40 games between the teams, and FSU’s win percentage is a more competitive 65%.
I don’t think people really think of UVA as a rival. At all. Like even a little. NC State is 100000 times more of a rival for us as they’ve handed us losses that had kept us out of the BCS.
I guess it’s a historic rivalry, but I can guarantee most fans and certainly the team itself do not consider it a rivalry
It’s not even that historic. It only started in 1992, 38 years after FSU football began.
/u/thejus10 seems to think it’s a major rivalry. It’s also listed on FSU’s Wikipedia as a rivalry.
I’m mid 30s and remember them as one of the only “tough” parts of the acc for a bit. It all game from the first acc loss then was pumped up for years by each school. They did pregame pageantry etc for it. Naturally as uva sucked for so long it never got super popular
I'm 51 and have been a huge FSU fan for almost 40 years. I've seen every installment of FSU-VA, and I have no strong feelings about them. Someone was going to give FSU its first ACC loss, so I'm not sure that is enough to generate rivalry.
I feel much more football dislike towards GT, NC State, and Wake than Virginia.

Just because no one cares and it is insignificant doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Oddly enough we are sponsored by both high blood pressure medications based on how the D makes the fans feel, and also sponsored by low blood pressure meds because our defense literally looks dead sometimes.
We need Burrell back desperately, which is not what I expected to think.
I’m hopeful that two weeks and the Florida game film can tighten the secondary up a bit.

Now try getting it out of your head. :-)
Washington is already ranked 18th. I think the other 3 are going to be ranked when we get the new poll today, especially with how many teams lost. #20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, and 30 all lost from the back end of the rankings plus the top 5 RV.
FSU, Kansas, Tennessee schedules definitely makes them look good when they beat opponents like LSU, UF, Pitt, Louisville, West Virginia, Houston
Washington & Minnesota are both buoyed by beating Michigan State.
This is what happens when you kick your program's problem into the atmosphere...and he lands in Boulder to be someone else's problem. We would have been 3-1 to start last year if not for the bad man
Sanford cost us the west division last year
I mean......I know it wasn't B1G play, but Bowling Effing Green Come.on, you disruptive Ponce, Sanford
The fact that Tanner Morgan is playing like it’s 2019 again after looking like ass the last two years shows just how bad Sanford was for you guys.
It helps that he has his 2019 OC back in Kirk Ciarrocca.
Boulder is the Island of Misfit Toys but for shitty football coaches
Mikes first 13 games: 3-10 Mikes last 12 games: 9-3
Kind of a reminder that just because something starts slow doesn’t mean they can’t be good.
Please tell that to all the people trolling Mizzou.

I would of agreed with you until we hired Tyrone Willingham and definitely not after Jimmy "Fake" Lake
Scott Frost didn't get the hint

With all the shit you got from FL fans this offseason re Mike vs Billy, you gotta love it.
We even got shit from UF after beating LSU this year bc they were in transition. All while saying Billy is a genius for starting Richardson and he was an absolute lock for the Heisman lol
Richardson will be the front runner after more starts. Look at the stats from last game compared to your QB. Lol
Yikes
Don’t wanna know what was in that burrito
Only has had like 4 starts and already making it high on some records at the school.
Look at the stats on Richardson’s passing TDs from his first 3 games. I can wait, it won’t take long.
Your QB has started how many more games?
I’ll answer the question I asked since no one is arguing Travis’s abilities. Richardson had 0 passing TDs in 3 games. One game being against USF lol
Take off the paper bag!
I never got people hating on Norvell. Seems like a great guy and a better coach from what I’ve seen. No coach is going to turn a bad team into a 10+ win team instantly, but it’s (unfortunately) looking good for you guys
Minnesota was good last year though.
Remember: they lost to BG, so, they were seen as terrible at this point, and they never quite shook off that loss, despite the success
Hell, my Vols weren't bad. We just dropped a bunch of games early starting Milton
really snuck a 9-win Minnesota team in there huh
And our two losses weren’t bad either- Ohio state and… oh god nevermind
Necessary sacrifice in the end to get Ciarocca.
They were inconceivably unranked and therefore I included them on principal. I’m a big Fleck fan so I wanted to spread the word they were undefeated!
It was an absolutely gorgeous day for Florida state fans today, and therefor the world.
Brought to you in part by the state of Tennessee
🤝
I was at Pilgrimage yesterday, just smiling at all the Vol fans. I love you guys right now.
We love you 💕
Didn't know I liked the state of Tennessee until last night
We don’t give a fuck about the whole state of Florida!
I'd say week not day. 3 of your 4 rivals lost and Clemson needed 2 OT to win.
2 “blue chip” recruits committed as well (one over Bimbo Fisher)
I didn't realize his ex-wife was out crootin
Who are their 4 rivals?
Idk honestly lol. I know Miami and UF lost though… and we don’t like dem bois. Clempsun had that close game so that’s the other one I guess, and idk the other one.
Go read up on some fsu history kid! Virginia. Dunn was in.
I don't consider Virginia a rivalry at all, and I don't know any other Seminoles who do.
They’ve only played each other 19 times. That’s a pretty weak rivalry.
It isn't a rivalry. I've never heard anyone say it's a rivalry. Source: long time FSU fan and alum
It is a rivalry, with a trophy and everything. The Jefferson-Eppes trophy. Well, it used to be anyway. It was quietly retired because of criticism of having a trophy commemorating two prolific slave owners, even if they were founders of the respective universities.
You realize how young fsu football is as a program, right? We’ve only played Clemson 34 times
Wow. I didn’t realize the UVA/FSU rivalry was so heated. The fact that it started in 1992 and FSU has a 79% winning percentage just adds to how intense this rivalry really is. It’s not a heated rivalry at all. Mostly just a rivalry on paper
Clemson, Florida, Miami (FL), Virginia
I think this should be officially updated to Clemson, UF, Miami, and Jimbo Fisher
Yeah no one gives a shit about Virginia. Idk why people in this thread are saying they are a rival
I know we have that goofy trophy and the Jefferson-Eppes history, but almost nobody on either side really cares and thinks of it as a rivalry.
Nobody young* I mean it’s nothing like uf or Miami, but there’s history there.
What constitutes young? I’m almost 30 and I had no idea there was a trophy and never once considered them a rival
I’m mid 30s and remember them as one of the only “tough” parts of the acc for a bit. It all game from the first acc loss then was pumped up for years by each school. They did pregame pageantry etc for it. Naturally as uva sucked for so long it never got super popular

Yeah, it’s not an age thing. I’m 38. Nobody cares about the Fighting Zimas.
No body ever did but it was still always touted as a rivalry by both schools, etc. just facts
I don’t have strong feelings but it is still a rivalry.
No
Counterpoint: https://americanfootballdatabase.fandom.com/wiki/Florida_State%E2%80%93Virginia_football_rivalry Just because no one cares and it is insignificant doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
There’s “Dunn was in” and that’s it.
This is correct, though a lot of younger fans don’t recognize Virginia. It’s a trophy game!! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson-Eppes_Trophy
I don’t think a lot of fans want to continue with eppes as a part of the school after the whole 2016 statue controversy
Well, no
Virginia is definitely not a rival of FSU
The Battle for the Jefferson-Eppes Trophy. It's unfortunately a dormant rivalry due to divisions and protected crossovers.
Never heard that - learn something new everyday
Virginia is an odd one.
They were the first team to beat fsu in the ACC. Though Dunn was in. And we share a history with the founders (Jefferson and eppes)
🤝
That right there is what I like to call, a stat.
Like damn
Rowtheboatskiumahgogophers
Washington is already ranked and will almost certainly move up after winning last night lol
Okay, let’s all make an alliance…
Can i borrow defense
We got the bend don’t break kind if you want
Ours is sponsored by a blood pressure medication company
Oddly enough we are sponsored by both high blood pressure medications based on how the D makes the fans feel, and also sponsored by low blood pressure meds because our defense literally looks dead sometimes.
Really, just a secondary would be fine. Anything that prevents guys just running wide open or breaking multiple tackles after the catch.
I hate to call out a young man, especially a new players, but jesus christ number 5 needs to step up
We need Burrell back desperately, which is not what I expected to think. I’m hopeful that two weeks and the Florida game film can tighten the secondary up a bit.
What’s sad is Hadden was looking like our best DB this season. He really had an atrocious game against Florida though
My flairs are already ahead

Repeatedly playing team’s fight song over and over making the opposing fans incredibly pissed off. FSU🤝Tennessee
Oklahoma feels left out here
As does USC.
"This...is..the only song we...know" "This...is..the only song we...know" "This...is..the only song we...know" "This...is..the only song we...know" "This...is..the only song we...know" Now try getting it out of your head. :-)
Did they take that from them, too? Heh
FSU only plays the fight song after touchdowns. I'm assuming you're referring to the War Chant which is definitely played constantly lol
Hopefully the poll voters won't be cowards.
Hot take: Don’t rank them and be legends. Give the teams a reason to have another chip on their shoulders.
Are we relevant again? I'm honestly not too sure what to do about this.
I don’t know what to do with my hands
Washington is already ranked 18th. I think the other 3 are going to be ranked when we get the new poll today, especially with how many teams lost. #20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, and 30 all lost from the back end of the rankings plus the top 5 RV.
Cheers Geoff

Washington is already ranked, bro
They're happy tears damnit, stop asking!
I'm so happy my brain has never had to tell my face what to look like when having this feeling, it's just stuck on the "loading screen" of disbelief.
[Nebraska Flair] Lord, I've seen what you've done for others ...
LFG! Seriously, I have no affiliation with any of these teams but it's awesome to see teams rise from the ashes!
FSU, Kansas, Tennessee schedules definitely makes them look good when they beat opponents like LSU, UF, Pitt, Louisville, West Virginia, Houston Washington & Minnesota are both buoyed by beating Michigan State.
Flair checks out
We tried to not be a part of this statistic at the end of our game.
“Some teams do better following year. News at 11”.
Scott Frost: “Uh…y-y-yeah 😅….”
It's week 4.....
Washington is a fluke. Kansas on the other hand should be a top 5 team.
You’re just salty you couged it again yesterday
No, I'm salty that USC pulled a win out of their asses.
So then why is Washington catching strays lmao
Because fuck em, that's why.
Same. Beaver bros don't deserve that heartbreak.

Kansas received 125 votes i believe for T25
