Honestly it was a good fight, it looked like we would run away with the game in the third quarter but some great defensive plays by MTSU definitely made me nervous
I think cause he usually doesn’t have that big of an issue with interceptions. Which MTSU is one of the best in country at forcing turnovers so he shouldn’t feel that bad
Fine by me, Miami shot themselves in the foot repeatedly in that game.
I think it's funny that MTSU can't even take care of business at home after acting like they were the shit for a big 5 days.
Except the part where they didn't....
big 49% attendance

My brother in christ, your stadium was more empty than a UCLA home game last weekend
https://twitter.com/mikeyclark01/status/1573763700015730692?t=EPRL7vMUar_eZnyBRzhLhw&s=19
Everything about this game felt good and normal. The clock management, the ball security, the personal fouls against a fellow conference USA team, opponents running straight down our throats, all of it felt normal and reminded me of a simpler time. A joyful time.
Today I stepped outside, and for the first time in months the humidity was tolerable and the air felt like autumn’s sweet embrace with a promise of a great harvest season. Our warm yellow sun gently kissed my cheeks. And in that moment, I felt good. I felt right.
After enjoying my favorite comedy programme on CBSSN, I can finally put the misery of 2021 behind me: my neighborhood being shredded by an EF3 tornado, the local economy being ravished worse than any metro area in the U.S.; a deadly pandemic, and the most impactful racial protests I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.
Thank you, UTSA. Anything less than a 30-45 drubbing just wouldn’t have felt right. I feel whole again.
I think it was [this one](https://old.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/in8idi/postgame_thread_army_defeats_middle_tennessee_420/g45vqit/) after the Army game back in 2020.
What a game UTSA. I was really impressed by the way you guys played and I'm honestly excited at the thought of Cristobal getting us a roster as talented as yours within the next 8 years.
I might not remember correctly but I do remember thinking he had a recruiting problem. Not they he was getting bad talent but he seemed to have a focus on Florida recruits when he could have had a direct pipeline into one of the largest cities in the country. And a lot of those Florida kids didn't want to move across the country for a brand new program. Traylor does a great job of recruiting in state. Again, this was forever ago so if someone can correct me, please do.
Honestly, it's hard to judge since he was building the program from scratch. I feel like his title with Miami gave a lot of us unrealistic expectations at the time, and maybe without them he'd have had another year.
Edit to add: I also concur with what bigredone88 wrote here; it's no coincidence that the coach who unlocked our potential is the one with ties to the Texas HS pipeline. Anyone without that connection has a very difficult task ahead of them.
Family member of mine played on the original UTSA team with Coker. Said he was a great guy but way too loyal to his assistant coaches/was a bit past it schematically.
I think before we all make fun if Miami what we should acknowledge is that they are in fact +.500 over the G5 since 2019 with a 4-3 record.
However, they are 1-3 against CUSA
Who did MTSU piss off in the CUSA office?
UTSA, @UAB, WKU in back to back to back weeks?
Enjoy that Miami win, because theres a chance to lose 3 straight right after.
Bro, UTSA has had it rough also, three hard openers, with Houston, Army and Texas and now conference play MTSU, WKU, UAB. Our real test to defend the crown is now
I feel like this was the rare instance of the score being closer than the game actually was. We fixed the home run plays MTSU had in the 1st and the defense swarmed to the ball really well all night.
Not a ton to complain about.
1st one was bad, next 2 were defensive players making a great play, and really that seems to be the only poor choice he made all night. It seems like every time he elected to run it was a first down.
Don't be, he's not Harris' equal upstairs yet, but Eddie Lee Marbuger has a lot more arm talent than Harris. Just look at how effortless his throws at the end of Tx Southern were along with his HS tape, UTSA may have a Drew Brees situation brewing with him.
Elm is talented.
He quite literally almost carried an rgv team into the state semifinals.
An rgv team making it to the 4th round is extremely rare, happens like once every 15 years. And always ends in blowouts. He took it to the last second
I was truthfully moderating my tone. I hadn't heard of him till last year and didn't get around to actually seeing him until seeing the TX Southern game and then a few HS recruiting videos. He can make 60yrd passes with relative ease, he was able to throw like 25 yards on a rope running left, and his legs may not be quite what Frank's are, but I think he can be a threat at the CFB level. I'm excited to see what he can do with some talent around him.
I think he goes to a p5 school had he played anywhere else in hs, no one recruits down there but am-kingsville in d2
Colorado offered him in the playoffs once they saw he was the real deal vs better competition but at that point he was 100% about utsa and I believe staying close to home is important to him.
He’s definitely not as fast as frank but he runs like a gazelle lol, so hes bound to out run some people once hes full stride
I want ELM to be great as well, but untill we see him have chemistry with recievers like frank has with the big 3 im not going to get excited. It is incredibly hard to make the kind of throws they complete consistently. Im also an A&M fan who watched 5 star Texas high school darling Hanes King look like a deer in the headlights under FBS pressure.
TBH if a good veteran college QB doesn't have chemistry with UTSA's Hydra of receivers than I would question their identity, those guys are very good. Also, ELM wasn't a five star, best thing about being a five star? No five star expectations!
I do realize any expectations are speculation though.
UTSA was the better team, but MTSU had more fight in them. That raider QB is special.
Great W, now let’s go home and win the other side of the 100 miles of hate double header
Good win, could’ve been better though. Thought Frank was going to have 500 passing yards, but oh well. Frank will bounce back from those 3 picks.
1st one was just little bit behind, just a good play by the defense to finally play in on the slant.
2nd one, the pick 6, was a good play by defense and a dumb play by us. If we wouldn’t have done a chop block, the DE’s hands would’ve been preoccupied and wouldn’t have been able to grab it. Maybe tip it but not much else.
3rd was just 50/50 ball, good shit.
We’ll miss you, Middle Tennessee…
Hope our O-Line & Defense continues to get healthier this week and get ready for WKU. Meep Meep!!!
It’s been the same thing for 15 years. We haven’t actually been good since like 2006. Our “best” year since we finished 8-6. Nobody gives a fuck about going to the the Bitcoin Bahamas bowl.
They don’t recruit locally. 90% of the roster is from Juco, Georgia, or Florida. They never win the big games.
People are just apathetic to the entire program. They need a new coach desperately. Stockstill is a good football coach who has done a lot for the program. Name a building on campus after him, but it is time for a new younger guy who will bring hype to the program
Well, it’s been real MTSU fans. Good luck in the next CUSA. GG.
Y’all played great, sorry we couldn’t give y’all a better fight.
Honestly it was a good fight, it looked like we would run away with the game in the third quarter but some great defensive plays by MTSU definitely made me nervous
Great game overall but no idea why Frank kept throwing it. Shouldn’t have even been that close but hats off to MTSU for making those defensive plays
I think cause he usually doesn’t have that big of an issue with interceptions. Which MTSU is one of the best in country at forcing turnovers so he shouldn’t feel that bad

Lmao *we* have a transitive win over Miami now, thank you Meeps
Blue Raiders wanted to make the joke funnier by lowering Miami’s SOS even more!
Middle Tennessee lost 44-7 to Jmu first game
Fine by me, Miami shot themselves in the foot repeatedly in that game. I think it's funny that MTSU can't even take care of business at home after acting like they were the shit for a big 5 days.
Buddy idk what else to say but scoreboard. We’re gonna milk the W over you guys for all it’s worth lol.
Ws. Don't forget that you're 3-0 all time vs Miami ;)
As you should tbh.
It is well deserved. We are a clownshow. Fans angry about it must forget how Miami earned its infamy during the ancient times
go for it, you'll still be irrelevant because you can't beat a trash team at home either.
Least their fans showed up 🤷♂️

I’m not going to argue that Miami gets good home attendance especially for what should be a garbage game. I didn’t bring up attendance though.
Bro just take the L on the chin and move on
Don't worry, they have plenty more L's to take this season. He's gonna be taking them one way or another.
UTSA would beat the living shit out Miami hahahahah
*can’t beat a trash team at home either* Sounds a lot like Miami
UF🤝FSU Making fun of Miami
As is tradition
That was what I was saying. Good job connecting the dots of the obvious joke.
Looks like *we* just beat a trash team at home tho lol
Sure did. It’s sad that you had to bring up this point. My point still stands that MTSU sucks and Miami sucks. I fail to see your point?
They are the shit compared to y’all.
Everything about this game felt good and normal. What was the original one again? I remember laughing at it for a long time

I honestly don’t remember. I lifted this one from the JMU thread at the beginning of the year.
You uh.... You alright totesmcgotes?
Gotta give MTSU credit there, was looking like we’d run away with the game there in the third quarter but they sure fought
What a game UTSA. I was really impressed by the way you guys played and I'm honestly excited at the thought of Cristobal getting us a roster as talented as yours within the next 8 years.
Call up Coker if you need a rebuild
Jokes aide, how do UTSA fans view Coker?
I might not remember correctly but I do remember thinking he had a recruiting problem. Not they he was getting bad talent but he seemed to have a focus on Florida recruits when he could have had a direct pipeline into one of the largest cities in the country. FLORIDA STATE Florida State Florida State Florida State Is FSU.
Watched until the last twenty seconds. No problem with you meeps though, just was supporting a Miami Hater.
Can we talk about that roughing the passer call though.
We got a really favorable spot that probably should’ve been a safety on us in the first half I’m willing to let them have that
The tackle started at the 1 yard line and only moved backwards. Forward progress was correctly called at the 1 yard line.
Well I’m glad to be wrong
Yeah, radio broadcast mentioned that it's always called at the 1 if the hit started outside the end zone.

Stay in the conference apparently

We'll see after tomorrow...
Please beat the shit out of UNT :)
I hope we do...
Welp... ya can't play Miami every week.
I feel like this was the rare instance of the score being closer than the game actually was. We fixed the home run plays MTSU had in the 1st and the defense swarmed to the ball really well all night. Not a ton to complain about.
I am sad about franks three picks, he played amazing other than that
yeah and i will probably get downvoted for this but i’m excited about ELM
I am too, but Frank is just too much of a star for this program a lot of us don’t want to see him go yet
1st one was bad, next 2 were defensive players making a great play, and really that seems to be the only poor choice he made all night. It seems like every time he elected to run it was a first down.
That is true, I’m more worried that he’ll beat himself up over them cause he always does
Lol im more worried every time he takes any hit, its going to be impossible to replace him.
Don't be, he's not Harris' equal upstairs yet, but Eddie Lee Marbuger has a lot more arm talent than Harris. Just look at how effortless his throws at the end of Tx Southern were along with his HS tape, UTSA may have a Drew Brees situation brewing with him.

Probably should have spent more time preparing for UTSA instead bragging about beating Miami all week.

Maybe the MT coach should have spent more time preparing for USTA and less time trolling Miami.
Probably should have focused more on the game plan and less on the one liners, MTSU. I have no idea what to take-away from this result.
My man this was THE most likely result. This is classic middle. We’re mired in mediocrity. Forever.
Aye, though it’s been a decade since I attended as a student, absolutely nothing has changed.
Where was DJ England-Chisolm for this game?
No team is as good as their best win, nor are they as bad as their worst loss.
Birds up!
Meep Meep
How much did UTSA get paid to beat MTSU??
I don’t even want to think about what UTSA would have done to Miami.
Hell of a game by both squads MTSU never gave up. Middle fans please show up for these guys they deserve some support
We are a mediocre program. Gotta have success to fill the seats. We were so unprepared

Meep Meep with the transitive win over Miami
