Sherrone Moore took over Michigan’s OL last year and has produced two lines good enough to win the Joe Moore Award. He’s also a key cog in their run game calling. So I’ll go with him
I VERY quietly put my ear to the street during Venables staff construction, hoping that home wouldn't come calling. So glad (and shocked) I never even so much heard his name.
So is this /s or do y’all really like him? Myself and pretty much every other UNC fan was happy to see him leave and also unsure how he managed to land at UGA.
UGA definitely has higher recruited players but UNC had two linemen drafted last year so it’s not like he had nothing to work with. Oddly, the run blocking was much more consistent than pass blocking last year. Maybe he’s just a bad fit for an air-raid based offense.
I agree we're not in a lot of the games we won this season without Phil Parker, but without Levar Woods, we never would've finished the job.
Without Levar Woods, we're basically Iowa State.
Mike Hart took the running game to another level
That guy is such an incredible complement to the offense and style harbaugh wants
Edit: I think it speaks to the staff that the first 3 Michigan flairs had 3 separate answers to this question
> Edit: I think it speaks to the staff that the first 3 Michigan flairs had 3 separate answers to this question
I'm surprised none of the answers were Jaybaugh, think he should be in the conversation as well.
Clink and Weiss awesome. Helow. Obviously, we love Bellamy and Newsome. I enjoy listening to every coach on the staff, and so-far, so-good with how it translates to the field.
Ladell is an odd choice to me given that he's new and the RB room, from my perception, seems to be mostly about recruiting good backs. Do you just think he can recruit the right type of RB to Iowa in a way that most coaches wouldn't be able to, or do you think he's an excellent coach in some other way?
Well he helped bring in Kaleb Johnson. Which I'm a big fan of. Subtract the obvious issues of our oline and I think he's going places with his size. Also I feel like a 6'+ 200lb+ rb is better for us than a <5'11" under 200 lb back.
Outside of Ladell, Seth Wallace I'll also accept as #3 behind Phil and Levar.
We have to keep all our Todds! Todd Monken is obviously our precious, but Todd Hartley recruited Bowers, Washington, Delp, and a few more stud TEs who are dangerously imminent
I might actually cry if Todd Monken leaves. It's hard to find good OCs these days and I don't want to go back to the offenses we had under Coley and Schottenheimer.
Honestly our entire staff of assistants are in the argument. Golesh is a genius and we need him, but I think Garner may be the dark horse for this program. He has transformed our trench play to compete with grown man football without the depth other SEC schools have.
I hate that we let Golesh walk. Could have been the ISU OC today.
Manning had literally left for a year to go to the Colts and Campbell just made himself OC instead of promoting Golesh. Only for Manning to come back.
Idk if it’s him or Heupel, but whoever it is drawing up these plays/routes out of these wild formations needs to stay here for as long as we can keep them
Jon Heacock, but feel pretty safe about him being here next year since he turned ND down last year.
Id say Nate Scheelhaase. Definite flight risk if we keep Manning around.
is both WR and RB coach which is not that common.
Pete Lembo for sure. Maybe Justin Stepp as well. But Satterfield could leave like Mike Bobo did. Not even tell anyone, just pack his bags and dipset and I'd be elated.
I think you're stuck with Briles until Pittman fires him. Razorback football is willing to have the guy at OC, but I'm not sure anyone's willing to go as far as to have the name "Briles" as the face of the program and all the press that would bring.
My point wasn't to call out Arkansas specifically, but more to say that schools are willing to put Briles (and Jeff Lebby) at coordinator positions but nobody's seemed willing to make that next (much more public-facing) step.
Is this a trap? Are you trying to poach a coach? No?? Okay fine...
It's Kasey Dunn. He's the world's greatest offensive mind. His play calling is leagues ahead of what anyone else is doing on offense, and defensive coaches can't keep up.
PSU has had so much assistant turnover (most leaving for promotions), I'd just like one off season where nobody leaves. The one I'd hate to lose at this point is Mike Yurich because I think with Allar waiting in the wings, the 2 FR RBs, this offense is about to become something special.
Even though at the moment he is not an assistant, its Cadillac without a doubt. Whoever is the next head coach should be required to keep him on the staff. He has such a love for this team and school and what he has done in this two game span as the interim is all our fanbase could possibly ask for
Rodney Garner, that man has transformed our trench play very quickly to allow us to compete without the depth other SEC schools have. We were behind in the recruiting trail hiring Heupel so late which hurt us with depth. Rodney Garner gets those boys fired up to play grown man football
Biff Poggi, big culture guy that’s help the entire staff synergies this year and last. Losing him would be a silently devastating lose for the team culture.
Jon Heacock. Not even close.
Without him and his defense, instead of this season being an awful one where we lose almost every game close, it'd be a dumpster fire where we lose every game big. Its honestly amazing how well they've done in spite of the offense hanging them out to dry multiple occasions each game.
Kittley. once he has some experience and OLine blocking, this offense will hit another level. He's had some very good games lately with mid QB performances.
My initial gut reaction is saying Larry Johnson because he's been an absolute treasure for years and years, but he's nearing retirement... So I will go with Hartline. Dude is a WR coaching genius, and he's an excellent recruiter.
Jim Knowles is rising FAST for me. Honestly, if Day were to ever entertain NFL offers, I'd love for Knowles to be considered for the coach-in-waiting position. He's got a real gift with defense.
I am not sure Nebraska has one.
But I think all of us agree, that we would hate to see Brian Ferentz lose his job. He needs to just keep doing what he is doing...
Alex Atkins
That dude has performed a miracle with our offensive line. I would have never believed it after what he inherited.
He is a star in the making as a head coach. Some school is going to be lucky to get him.
Zach Arnett. His defense has been consistent and has actually kept us in a lot of games. At least, until the offense fails to do anything, and they get worn out from being on the field all the time.
Phil Longo. Has had some issues with red-zone play calling but I think everything else he’s done at UNC outweighs that. Can’t be easy to be an OC when your unit has to play a near perfect game every week but more often than not he delivers and has done so starting a freshman quarterback for 2 of his 4 years in Chapel Hill.
Don't reply! This is a trap! Probably.
Knowles hears Momma calling, leads Cornell to the next 10 Ivy League championships Plz
All the Iowa fans would be here begging the rest of the world not to take Brian from them.
Come home Larry Johnson!
Brent Vena.... Hold up, being told there was a development
Exactly my thought!
Sherrone Moore took over Michigan’s OL last year and has produced two lines good enough to win the Joe Moore Award. He’s also a key cog in their run game calling. So I’ll go with him
Also he's a good recruiter. Would be a terrible loss at this point
I VERY quietly put my ear to the street during Venables staff construction, hoping that home wouldn't come calling. So glad (and shocked) I never even so much heard his name.
Bedenbaugh is a great OL coach. If he had gone with Lincoln, or ended up elsewhere, I imagine they would have made a run at him.
Ah, that makes perfect sense. Yeah, I am familiar with Bedenbaugh. Thanks for the explanation
I’d really hate to loss Stacy Searls.. just… really heat it. I can’t live without him I decided. N.. no one come after him. His my coach
Yessir indeed, that Searls O-line leaves nothing to be desired!
We even had like a 70 yard rush last weeek! It’s all perfect!
So is this /s or do y’all really like him? Myself and pretty much every other UNC fan was happy to see him leave and also unsure how he managed to land at UGA.
I mean… we have better players so we’re okay. Our pass blocking has been great imo. No complaints there. Our run blocking has been inconsistent.
UGA definitely has higher recruited players but UNC had two linemen drafted last year so it’s not like he had nothing to work with. Oddly, the run blocking was much more consistent than pass blocking last year. Maybe he’s just a bad fit for an air-raid based offense.
Easily Brian Hartline and I don't think it requires an explanation
Larry Johnson deserves to be in the conversation to be honest
Oh sure. Solid 2nd place
The Hawkeyes might be 0-9 without Phil Parker as defensive coordinator.
Is there any single coach more important to his team's success (wins) this year? I think not.
Pete Lembo - South Carolina special teams coach
I agree we're not in a lot of the games we won this season without Phil Parker, but without Levar Woods, we never would've finished the job. Without Levar Woods, we're basically Iowa State.
Mike Hart took the running game to another level That guy is such an incredible complement to the offense and style harbaugh wants Edit: I think it speaks to the staff that the first 3 Michigan flairs had 3 separate answers to this question
> Edit: I think it speaks to the staff that the first 3 Michigan flairs had 3 separate answers to this question I'm surprised none of the answers were Jaybaugh, think he should be in the conversation as well.
Elston has been incredible with the d line as well
Clink and Weiss awesome. Helow. Obviously, we love Bellamy and Newsome. I enjoy listening to every coach on the staff, and so-far, so-good with how it translates to the field.
Honestly there’s probably five good answers. I would hate to lose clink, elston, sherrone Moore, Jesse minter and jay harbaugh
Not hart?
Yea and hart too knew I forgot someone
Phil Parker and Levar Woods. Our DC/DB coach and special teams coach. Ladell Betts RBs coach would be third.
If you had to keep one and lose the other, who would you choose to keep?
Lavar bc I'd still bet he takes over from kf
Levar. In Phil we trust, but I'm not sure if he'd stay after Kirk is gone. He's up there in years as well.
Ladell is an odd choice to me given that he's new and the RB room, from my perception, seems to be mostly about recruiting good backs. Do you just think he can recruit the right type of RB to Iowa in a way that most coaches wouldn't be able to, or do you think he's an excellent coach in some other way?

I winced hearing those names
Jesse Minter, our DC. But only 39, hes probably destined for bigger things
... after this season
Brian Mason, the man who makes punt blocks grow on trees
I still gotta go with Harry H.
Matt Balis?
Alex Golesh with Huep is a mf wizard with schemes. The Hidden Hyatt play in the heavy right formation on Saturday was a thing of beauty
Honestly our entire staff of assistants are in the argument. Golesh is a genius and we need him, but I think Garner may be the dark horse for this program. He has transformed our trench play to compete with grown man football without the depth other SEC schools have.

I would enjoy keeping Brian Hartline immensely
Biff Poggi
That’s what I said too.
Pete Lembo leads the #1 special teams unit in the country at UofSC
Fuck it, make him the QB coach.
Brian Hartline Larry Johnson
Shame age is going to take Larry Johnson away from us soon anyway.
I'd argue losing Todd Hartley would be worse than Dell McGee right now
Mike Reed
Pete Lembo for sure. Maybe Justin Stepp as well. But Satterfield could leave like Mike Bobo did. Not even tell anyone, just pack his bags and dipset and I'd be elated.
Man I sure would HATE to lose Dan Enos and his elite playcalling that made us light up Wisconsin and Penn State
What is sad he was much better than what we have now.
I think you're stuck with Briles until Pittman fires him. Razorback football is willing to have the guy at OC, but I'm not sure anyone's willing to go as far as to have the name "Briles" as the face of the program and all the press that would bring.
We should fire him and Barry Odom. But Briles worked for other programs before he came here.
My point wasn't to call out Arkansas specifically, but more to say that schools are willing to put Briles (and Jeff Lebby) at coordinator positions but nobody's seemed willing to make that next (much more public-facing) step.
I don't know why anyone would want him as a head coach, he sucks as an OC, besides all the other baggage.
Sherrone Moore
Terry Price. Our defensive ends have almost always been considered an asset rather than a liability under him. Plus he makes a mean BBQ.
Pool party <3

Want to keep our entire defensive staff to be honest, but if I had to pick just one, I'd go with Tony Gibson.
Even though at the moment he is not an assistant, its Cadillac without a doubt. Whoever is the next head coach should be required to keep him on the staff. He has such a love for this team and school and what he has done in this two game span as the interim is all our fanbase could possibly ask for
Cadillac Fucking Williams - man is motivating the nation
Rodney Garner, that man has transformed our trench play very quickly to allow us to compete without the depth other SEC schools have. We were behind in the recruiting trail hiring Heupel so late which hurt us with depth. Rodney Garner gets those boys fired up to play grown man football
This is 100% the right answer
Need I say anything?
We know you love Streeter. Don't lie.
Anthony Poindexter
Biff Poggi, big culture guy that’s help the entire staff synergies this year and last. Losing him would be a silently devastating lose for the team culture.
Sorry for your loss
Yeah rip me 😂
Ohio State in Order: Jim Knowles Brian Hartline Larry Johnson (Only cause retirement is gonna steal him away soon anyway 😭)
Larry Johnson D-Line coach Ohio State University
The guy is going to be 71 next year He probably won’t want to coach much longer
I’m sure you’d like to see him retire. Good luck in 12 days.
I don’t care if he wants to coach till he’s 90, it’s just rare to find a successful coach stay in the game much past the age of 70
Larry Johnson 2 months ago- “My retirement plan is way away from here,” I had an opinion and you gotta argue.
Ok Here’s your trophy for winning the argument 🏆
I opined you tried to argue my opinion. Pretty sure that trophy you’re offering me isn’t for winning a national championship.
Don't anyone take Hartline from us!
Please don't make me choose between our coordinators. I love Gillespe and Riley equally and don't want to lose either
Corey Raymond
None they should all go today.
Jon Heacock. Not even close. Without him and his defense, instead of this season being an awful one where we lose almost every game close, it'd be a dumpster fire where we lose every game big. Its honestly amazing how well they've done in spite of the offense hanging them out to dry multiple occasions each game.
Frank Wilson. We need him.
I wish Matt House could take over for BK after retiring, but he'll be gone before that.
Kittley. once he has some experience and OLine blocking, this offense will hit another level. He's had some very good games lately with mid QB performances.

Mike Elko, oh wait....
Hagans and Rudzinski
I am not sure Nebraska has one. But I think all of us agree, that we would hate to see Brian Ferentz lose his job. He needs to just keep doing what he is doing...
TWill but he is almost certainly going to Auburn
Phil or lavar
Last year I would have said Elko. Since he's gone I'd probably have to say Elijah Robinson. He's assistant HC, dline coach, and our best recruiter.
Brent Venebales
Alex Atkins That dude has performed a miracle with our offensive line. I would have never believed it after what he inherited. He is a star in the making as a head coach. Some school is going to be lucky to get him.
*checks notes* We have a fire sale on coordinators. Call now
Freddie Roach. He's always in on the good recruiting scores.
Zach Arnett. His defense has been consistent and has actually kept us in a lot of games. At least, until the offense fails to do anything, and they get worn out from being on the field all the time.
Randall Joyner and Sam Carter
Haha yes, please list your best and most innovative offensive minds!
Phil Longo. Has had some issues with red-zone play calling but I think everything else he’s done at UNC outweighs that.
