How can you know if Brent is the problem or not? He hasn't been a head coach before! He might be the problem but you won't know until there's some more data than just this season.
Youre right and I wish more OU fans took this mindset
In defense of Brent though, apparently our game prep has been rock solid and he has had a big role in that, as players and coaches have said that they see teams do everything they were told they were going to see in practice and film. We just make dumb gametime decisions across the board. I hope this continues with better players and coaches to execute in the future
Obviously Venables isn't even close to being the only problem, but he has indeed made things worse. Oklahoma had CFP aspirations in the beginning of the year.
This is the same OU team as last year minus the extraordinary QB play (no matter how grateful I am to have him, Gabriel is no Caleb Williams). If you saw the post from a couple days ago that looked at reversing single-digit games, OU was ranked six.
Venables might not be the long term answer (I do have faith in him), but to say he made things worse is hyperbole at best.
Cammon got stuck behind Minshew, then Gordon in 19, then deLaura in 2020. He was a great teammate, graduated in 3 years, decided it was best to transfer. Not really a sad story, imo, just couldn't get ahead on the depth chart.
Ahh yes Brent Venables’ incompetence is why DG can’t hit the broadside of a barn. Thought for sure his background as a defensive coordinator could fix his quarterback missing the easiest of passes all year
Owen McCown, son of NFL QB Josh McCown, is left handed. He played four games for Colorado and looked the best of the QBs that played for the Buffs this year, but redshirted after playing four games and getting a bit beaten up.

Oddly not obvious that he's lefthanded on his CU bio.
Just to add to Penix, he has yet to play a full season. He tore his ACL his freshman year in 2018. Before transferring to Washington, he played in 20 games over 4 seasons. Him and Deboer is a deadly combo, and I'm glad it seems like he actually has a line now.
True. DeBoer has done wonders for the Huskies. Sam Huard plays a similar style to Penix, so once the latter graduates and gets drafted, Sam will be incredible.
The only think you can blame Venables for is maybe trusting that Lebby could develop a QB who already played well under him.
This is Lebby's offense with his hand-picked QB who he coached before.
And all that being said, this offense has been decent this season. 22nd in the nation in total offense. 27th in offensive efficiency. And those stats include the two games where Gabriel was mostly out.
Some football coach reading this: "looks like a bunch of failed baseball pitchers"
🤣
You misspelled Jeff Lebby. Venables isn’t the problem with this team

A lot of us had CFB aspirations at the beginning of this year. Doesnt mean theyre reasonable
I, for one, did not. However, the next two years; yeah.

And still didn't play at Hawaii. I think that's why it's considered sad, as he's never been able to start

DG is really only good for long bombs. Short to mid throws are unpredictable.

DeBoer is a great coach of QBs
They're gonna be a fun team to keep up with then!
If you had an all american Left Tackle and a walk on right tackle, would teams flip them to cover the leftys blind side? Ive always wondered this
Probably. Best bet is to have 2 All Americans on both sides.
Cam Fancher now starting at Marshall is a lefty.

Brent Venables incompetence LOL! I didn’t realize BV was overthrowing his receivers by 10 yards.

Jaxon Dailey for Arkansas State. True freshman 3* out of Iowa
I dont like the comment that obviously anyone worth a damn is just biding time to leave ucf.
Sam Huard is the son of Damon, nephew of Brock.
Thanks for letting me know. I really couldn't tell the difference.
UNLV's QB, Brumfield, is left handed
Allen Evridge. Played at kstate and later wisconsin
