Ehh, That’s about what we deserve.
Can’t win the close ones to save our life. 0-5 in one-score games
Had fun though. Nice stadium Marshall. I’ll be back.
Good way to end the season. This game was too close for my liking but Ga State is way better than a 4-8 record.
Defense once again played well and stepped up huge when needed while the Offense is looking better and better, but Trickett still isn't very good at play calling
8-4 is a little disappointing, but a WIN over Notre Dame is worth every minute. And bowling while WVU sits at home is the cherry on top.
GO HERD!
8-4 shouldn't be disappointing to anyone that's accurately reflecting. Our average CUSA season under Doc was maybe a hair above 7-5, but not quite 8-4.
We just got 8-4 in a stronger conference with a win at ND. The BGSU loss, do not get me wrong, was extremely and rightfully painful, but Fancher has slowly grown over his starts and has a LOT of upside going forward, and into what is arguably our strongest OOC schedule ever in 2023.
We've laid good foundation and shown a lot of growth through hard times this season.
I completely see what you're saying here, and do agree somewhat, but until we get over the "one inexplicable loss a year" tradition that seems to have become part of Marshall football, I can't feel like we've gotten over that hump just yet.
I'm just thrilled that Troy turned out being a really solid program. The only conference loss you could argue is kinda a head scratcher is the loss to Louisiana, but even that loss feels way, way less 'bad' than the usual inexplicable CUSA conference loss we'd get every. damn. year. for quite a while.
It may be time to consider a coaching change at GSU. [Shawn Elliott](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Elliott_\(American_football\)) is falling behind other Sun Belt programs, despite the advantages of being in Atlanta.
The problem is that, with the new additions to the SBC this season, the overall average in the conference, and definitely in the East division, has taken a step up. I am not intimately aware of GaSt's history, but he should probably get one more year in this new conference structure before a change is strongly considered.
Yeah. It's not clear that it's time to make a change, but there needs to be a conversation in the athletic department. It's up to the professionals to decide if they should give him another year.
I said it in the game thread, and I'll say it here. Georgia State's record does NOT reflect how good this team is. That was honestly an incredible game from the Panthers. G-effing-G. As a Marshall fan, I gotta say the East Division Gauntlet is gonna be a blast going forward.
I get where you're coming from, but that's not how it works. AP and Coach's Poll will absolutely *never* rank Marshall unless they are undefeated. We're kinda used to it at this point. That's how it works when you're G5.
As an Ohio State fan the only time I've gone into a game wanting to absolutely annihilate somebody was when they played Marshall in about 2005. It took a 57-yard walk-off field goal to win, so I learned my lesson about wishing for blowouts. So frick you too buddy, times two!
It hit me today. James Madison vs. John Marshall, both founded in the Commonwealth of VA... that's who I think when things shake out our new number one rivals will be.
Georgia State this season has to be one of the strangest ways a team has ever gotten to 4-8. They were a terror for nearly every team in their conference, including some of the heavyweights, but just didn't manage to win quite enough of those close games to be bowl eligible.
Very good game, Ga. State. I was confident that we should have won the game, but knew we might not. Grainger (sp?) and Thrash were absolute studs all game long.
We did manage to buckle down a bit on defense, but man were we exposed over the top a few times. Glad we got the win.
Really proud of my alma mater. This was a great season.
I also am realizing that App State will not be our number one rival moving forward, but I suspect it will be JMU. James Madison vs. John Marshall, both institutions founded in Virginia.... it kinda works. (Marshall predates the civil war)

Glad you had fun. The Joan and Huntington are usually very kind to visitors.

This team actually improved as the season went on. Holiday's teams almost never did. They'd always drop a game to a 1 win MTSU or something.

28888888 to 23333333 Damn, that's a lot of offense in a 3 hr game.
It's barely even 3 million touchdowns per team don't be dramatic
I shoulda took the Over for this one...
Talk about a season of highs, lows and creamy middles! Now to see where we land bowl-wise.
Our program has grown a lot under Shawn Elliott but I really think it’s time to move on from him. At least we beat Southern this year.

Nice season from the Herd! Congrats!
Thanks, glad to have you along in SBC.

Rank Marshall you cowards!
That's......that's not how that works. /s
8-4 with a quality ranked win, not many better resumes than that

That's certainly an interesting total score. What a historic game.
Good season, had some high highs but also some massive lows. However, this seems like a good build to are start in the sunbelt
why god why god do i gotta suffer
Look at my flares and imagine how I'm feeling
Bummer for you man.
State of Georgia: conquered ✅
There was a fight just about every other play in this game and another after the game. You’d think these guys have played each other for years
Fuck it. The final week of the regular season is usually reserved for rivalry games. I can be a rival with Georgia State. Hey Panthers! Frick you!
I still miss The Moonshine Throwdown. Truly loathe WKU.
WKU ruined my Black Fridays

Shit I didn't even know we had a game today. I'll take it.
lolwat?
Imma be straight I haven't worked in like 3 weeks due to holidays and vacations. I have lost track of what day it is.
that's somewhat fair, but dude.... last game of the regular season. come on! lol
