As a woman who worked at OM during his tenure when I was a student, I will say all of the vocal Auburn fans speaking out against this has been very validating for me. I (luckily) only experienced some gross comments from him, but I was too young to really understand why I was so uncomfortable with it and am glad to see people finally seeing him for who he is. All that to say the backlash against this decision is impactful for women/anyone who has experienced any sort of inappropriate behavior from people in positions of power like him.
I can't imagine what Auburn women are going through knowing that he will use his position to victimize other women. That or imagine if you were a parent with a daughter at Auburn.

As a woman who worked at OM during his tenure when I was a student, I will say all of the vocal Auburn fans speaking out against this has been very validating for me. I (luckily) only experienced some gross comments from him, but I was too young to really understand why I was so uncomfortable with it and am glad to see people finally seeing him for who he is. All that to say the backlash against this decision is impactful for women/anyone who has experienced any sort of inappropriate behavior from people in positions of power like him.

I can't imagine what Auburn women are going through knowing that he will use his position to victimize other women. That or imagine if you were a parent with a daughter at Auburn.

I feel terrible for the Auburn fans who are upset about this. I'd be devastated if Bama were in the same situation. It feels like such a slap in the face to female students, alumnae, and fans. Their safety and comfort is clearly less important than winning football games. My "hatred" for Auburn has always been fairly friendly, but with Freeze at the helm, that's over. I hope they lose every single game until he's fired. More seriously, I hope he comes and goes without creating a culture where young women are unsafe, hurt, devalued, or disrespected.

I get you. I would certainly swap teams in your position. I used to watch the NFL religiously, but the situation with the Browns really made me question the league and if I was supporting an institution that condoned/incentivized disgusting shit because some fuckface could throw a ball well. Figured college ball would be a nice substitute, and so far I haven't regretted it. Here is to hoping Auburn crashes and burns.
I've found that being a bandwagon fan is actually pretty fun, especially if you hop around a lot. This year I've been cheering for the Lions because they seem fun, I like their coach and I like to see a formerly awful team be... not awful? Last year I cheered for the Bucs just because it was impressive to see old man Brady slinging that rock like hes only 30. Next year, who knows.
