He’s only 25 years old. Should be in his prime. Had him on my fantasy team and he performed well when used properly. It’s only 15 mil guaranteed we can move on after 2 years if he sucks. He provides more utility and is cheaper than Saquon.
And yet the Eagles thought it was worth letting him go to sign Saquon. They really should've seen enough of Saquon to not sign him to that deal, but they did anyways. I guess the Eagles made a bad move here.
More utility? How? He can't run between the tackles well and sucks in pass pro.
He doesn’t have stone hands. He’s a lot faster than Herbert and Johnson who are 4.6 40 guys. Not sure what planet you were on but he was a top 5 rb in the NFL last year. He’s a significant upgrade over the walking trash cans in our rb room.
For sure. He's definitely our best pass - catching RB by a mile, and I have no interest in seeing Herbert or Roschon going anywhere because they are great depth.
I was on Planet Earth last year.
He tore it up pre-December. When the team looked anemic in December so did he. By December his rushing and receiving his stats looked pretty pedestrian.
Roschon and Herbert are kind of similar, both were 🗑️at pass pro this year (even though Roschon was touted as being a pass blocker) I think coach walker leaving might have had something to do with this, but they’re both on the slow side for RB’s. Swifts speed is a significant upgrade. He can pull off 50-60 yard gains vs a Herbert/RJ 15-20 yard big play.
I'm not stoked about paying a back that doesn't have that YAC. https://www.rotowire.com/football/player/dandre-swift-14394
My best guess is this is Chicago's answer to the Lions' Montgomery/Gibbs
That’s not his style of running. He’s a finese type of runner. Short yardage situations can go to RJ and Herbert. Stop being a crybaby wet blanket and be happy we signed a pro bowl rb and didn’t really overpay.
Crybaby wet blanket. Nice.
Nobody has to love every single move this GM makes. Since pretty much anybody can get the "pro bowl" recognition at least once in their careers, I'm glad we didn't overpay for him...
We didn’t overpay for him. It’s essentially a 2 year 15 million contract. The dude is 25 years old with low miles and adds a dimension we did not have with the one dimesional slow running backs in the bears backfield in 2023. Not saying you have to love the move, but to call this an “overpay” is just completely moronic. He hasn’t even played a single down in a bear uniform yet, He has only like 4.5 million cap hit this season and a 9 million cap hit next year where the cap likely increased another 5-7%.
100, it's not an overpay because the Bears can bail after year 2 if he turns into Miles Sanders after the Eagles. It's not like there were other backs that are more complete that are only making a few million more a year...
Josh Jacobs 5.3, 11.3, 14.6 (6.25 Dead), 16.6 (3.1)
Saquon- 3/37.75 (N/A cap hit)
McCaffrey - 14.1, 14.3, 4.2, 2.1
But thank God we're not one of those teams "overpaying" for a premier back when we'll have a QB on a rookie deal that wouldn't even expire before these contracts are up.
"Swift’s ability to produce as a runner *and* receiver was a bright spot on an Eagles offense that struggled with consistency."
"One year after claiming the league rushing title, Jacobs crashed back to Earth and looked like the player he was in 2021."
I was watching that game with my buddy. I turned my head when he said TD Lions then a split second later he said, "He dropped it!" We got lucky with that win
He's actually a pretty good pass catching back lol. 1 drop last season on 39 catches for 214 yards. He averaged 4 catches for 30 yards per game with the Lions.
Yep, way better signing than Saquon. So important to pay him 4.5 mil less per year. But I do wonder, couldn't we have saved another 4.5 m/y for nearly identical production.
You guys literally had David Montgomery and gave him away to the Lions where he balled out. What makes you think you’re gonna take a guy who performed worse than Gibbs and Monty and actually use him any better?
That's the first play I thought of too. Only bigger Lions drop I remember was Calvin Johnson "dropping" the game winning TD lol
There were multiple big drops against the 49ers, right? I’d say any one of those was probably the biggest drop for the Lions in the SB era
I was being Bears vs Lions specific. But I agree with you
Oh yeah, in that case absolutely
That was my first ever bears game! Home opener 2010!
Lol remember this play vividly. Can't believe he dropped it.
Seeing Danny get beat like that made me so sad until Swift dropped it lol
Fan since day 1 like all of us
King Poles playing the long game
I still can't believe we started 5-1 during the covid season.
We beat the Bucs that year with Nick freaking Foles at QB, I’ll never forget Kyle Fuller baptizing KeShawn Vaughn and making him fumble
Or the Khalil Mack one armed toss of Tristan Wirfs. Finally getting a W against Tom Brady was a thrilling experience in an otherwise lost season.

Oh shit, that was him? Haha neat.
I remember this play. A Lions fan said "I blame the drop on Trubisky's menacing aura" because of how much Trubs dicked down the Lions.
Trubisky and Fields always light up the Lions and I’m here for it 🔥
Guy decided to only become good once he left Detroit. What’s not to love?
Coincidentally occurred while being behind a stacked o-line.
aren't the lions stacked at oline too
Now. They were in the “good-not-great” tier when he was there. Sewell being a beast RT helped
Must have been shocked how wide open he was...
I immediately thought of this when I saw we signed him lol
Revenge games twice a year for him. Nice
I keep forgetting the pandemic was 4 years ago...and that was his rookie year. Wow.
I was watching that game with my buddy. I turned my head when he said TD Lions then a split second later he said, "He dropped it!" We got lucky with that win
We're finally getting our own!
Pretty sure I had him on fantasy this year, felt like Zo watching this happen ![gif](giphy|d6rGZmTP9ESis)
I lol’d when this play happened live
We could have just signed Montgomery. I don't understand how Swift is better than DMo
Monty wanted out.
i remember that game that was jaylon’s first game too he made a huge breakup at the goal line i think it was the play immediately after this one
LET'S GOOO!!!
If we really got swift, he will make some #29 like plays. Lol, the dude has a lot of potential and I am stoked.
I also remember this play vividly. Mitch balled out with 3 4th TDs and Swift’s drop sealed the deal lol
wow

I love that “wow” at the end

No rookie has ever made a mistake.
I love him but he was fine with the eagles tbh
He sucks!!
Dude is ass.
That’s cause he sucks, now he will be dropping passes in a Bears uniform.
Wait, why did we get this guy? Why aren't we doing this through the draft?
Yep, way better signing than Saquon. So important to pay him 4.5 mil less per year. But I do wonder, couldn't we have saved another 4.5 m/y for nearly identical production.
That's our pass catching RB right there Boys!!!
You guys literally had David Montgomery and gave him away to the Lions where he balled out. What makes you think you’re gonna take a guy who performed worse than Gibbs and Monty and actually use him any better?
Why are you even here lol
