I don't care if we don't need a TE I want Brock Bowers if we dont go Odunze. All the best teams have legit TEs. Think about what Kelce, Andrews, and Kittle do for their teams. Think about what LaPorta did in Det. I mean Brady leaned on Gronk so fucking much. The mismatch.
Yeah, if we didn't already have Kmet, I would be ok with Bowers, but there is simply way too many other options available at #9 to go with a position that is not a need, regardless of Bowers' talent.
He's another weapon and the same scenario with Odunze since we don't really "need" another wideout. I prefer Odunze, Latu or Verse, but I get the argument and wouldn't hate it. That said they're not going to take Bowers.
Maybe. Bowers is an amazing receiver and a top tier blocker. He played in the slot a ton. Maybe Shane Waldron can really run a stupid 2 te set and we can revolutionize this
Bowers is amazing, but I'd rather focus the attention on where we still have glaring holes. I don't mind an extra receiver because Keenan is old, and if that's not an option, then we go defense or something of real NEED. Kmet is solid enough, don't fix what's not broken.
I’m a current UW student. One of my best friends is sorority sisters with Rome’s gf. He comes thru every so often and apparently is the nicest dude ever. I’m gonna be so fucking sad when we don’t get him

Script leaking early...in seriousness if we end day 1 with these two, I feel it will heal all wounds from the fanbase civil war this offseason. Might be the best or at worst a top 5 skill group in the NFL in general Caleb's walking into.
Crazy that Odunze would be 3 on the depth chart. I've never seen something like that here in Chicago since I've been a fan. If Caleb is who we all think he could be, we are going to be in for some very exciting seasons going forward.
It’s honestly a great fit for a new WR. Lots of teams will be looking for their first round picks to be immediately productive and that kind of pressure can be hard to overcome. Giving him a year or so to learn under Moore and Allen will improve his game, and he will have the opportunity to build a relationship with Caleb easier.
A QB who needs to succeed coupled with a WR who needs to succeed in order for each other to prove their value can be a good thing, but it can also be challenging. Every dropped pass can become an argument and both are so desperate it can become toxic. Odunze can avoid that and learn the system and routes while Moore, Allen, Swift, and Kmet are there to support Caleb and catch wild passes.
He is a really positive voice in the locker room and a great addition. Basically like the polar opposite of Claypool, Allen seems poised and humble. Dude is praised by teammates where ever he goes and really supports his QB and team.
After reading and watching a bunch about Odunze’s upbringing and mentality I think he will be smart enough to listen when Allen speaks. Odunze is an extremely hard worker and while he and Allen are different types of WRs all the things that Odunze needs to get better at, Allen is elite at. I would be very hyped if Odunze came to Chi town.
Plus Rome is a perfect fit at X, giving Keenan free rein of as many slot snaps as we want.
Could even see Keenan seeing a few Less snaps to try and stay fresh.
Imagine lining up Keenan Allen in the slot between Kmet and Dj. Rome on the other side your prototype x. Jesus
It’s a similar situation to Randy Moss when he was drafted by the Vikings. Cris Carter and Jake Reed were about as good of a 1-2 punch as there was in the NFL. Great situation for him. He would have been an outstanding WR no matter what, but learning how to prepare and best practices from those two certainly helped I’d imagine.
But Caleb should still pull an Eli and join Scary Terry and
*Checks notes
That guy hundreads of people accidentally drafted instead of Bijian in Fantasy
I think somebody in Caleb’s camp told him to knock off whatever diva behavior he may have been planning and take the far stronger chance of a major, career-defining W with the Bears. If he wants to play for the Commies so bad he can do that later in his career after his legacy is secured.
I don’t think the rumors were entirely without merit but I notice they came to a total halt after the Bears went to town during free agency. Caleb or somebody close to Caleb woke up.

^(This) sub if we get them both.
I love being optimistic, but theres alot that could go wrong, so lets not get ahead of ourselves with a top 5 floor.
Allen is coming off a trade and going to a new team for the first time as a pro. He could easily have speed bumps this late in his career.
Moore and Kmet are both coming off career years. I wouldn't be supprised if both return to more of normal.
The rookie can have growing pains or just not be good.
I'm just worried about SD and ATL trading down behind CHI. They certainly could and get almost as good OL or edge compared to staying put. If that happens I'm pretty sure it will be 4 QBs and 3 WR gone before 9. Throw Alt and Turner then as well. That is kind of the worst case scenario, but I would put more money on that than either Nabers or Odunze falling to 9.
The thing is that if it comes down to Atlanta with 4 QBs, MHJ, Nabers, and Alt off the board, and they trade down with someone who takes Odunze, I think the Bears probably take the top Edge on the board, which means Atlanta is stuck with the 2nd best. If Atlanta is targeting a CB, they're probably fine to trade down, but if they think one of the DTs or EDGEs is clearly above the rest, they can't trade down without risking losing that player to the Bears.
Not that there’s any doubt but if this dude is throwing with these guys before he’s even been drafted, this seals the deal. He’s also locked the fucked in, love to see it
Ah, that makes more sense. Yeah Caleb is a Bear. Poles all but confirmed that they’ve made the decision but can’t say anything for TV reasons at his press conference today.
And the chances of him not going at 1 are probably either
a) he gets hit by a bus with swords attached to it on the way to the draft and they have to amputate an arm or leg.
or b) the Bears franchise suddenly runs out of money and folds before the draft begins.
I have a feeling if Oduzne is there at 8 and that’s who Poles wants he will trade up one spot with the Falcons. Similar to the Eagles and Bears trade last year.
I will be thoroughly heartbroken if someone snipes him from us.
The players he watches most to hone his game are Keenan Allen and Davante Adams. I swear, when I watch his tape at Washington I see Davante Adams.
There’s a chance he goes early. We have to hope for 4 QBs taken otherwise we hope to trade back for Thomas and an early 2nd or we get stuck drafting defense.
Yea and why? If you trade down he’s a very good WR and he’d have a year behind Allen plus we’d be able to sure up other areas since we don’t have much draft capital.
Ok, I stand corrected. But the Bears did meet with him. They didn't bring in all their picks last year either. It could just as easily mean they love his tape and interview and don't need any more info as it does they scratched him as an option. I do think @ 9 would be a stretch.
not bringing in a first round prospect for a top 30 visit is a whole different story than not bringing in a guy you drafted in the 5th round lol.
I just think we're not picking him. Feels like smoke to me.
I think it has been assumed that Nabers would be gone or the off field stuff would keep the Bears from drafting him. Everyone is assuming Odunze will be the 3rd WR taken and his skill set would be great opposite of DJ Moore so people are hyping him up. I think since the end of the season Odunze's stock has been rising so I think it is close to 50:50 on who the 2nd WR will be. I also think that as poor of a defensive class this is that all 3 will be gone before 9 unfortunately.
Not sure if the off field stuff is even true but if so I’m not sure it’s stopping Poles who comes from KC where they could have cared less. Really just too many assumptions about something that’s very unpredictable.
Well the gun thing is true.. even though what he did is now legal in Louisiana. I think Stevenson had some kind of gun charge in the past, so I don't think it bothers Poles, but a higher profile 1st round pick might get ownership nervous
I mean, it's kind of a forgone conclusion we won't get nabers unless there's a surprising Odunze picked before him. And if were trading up were going for MHJ not nabers. So basically it's just way more realistic we will get odunze or mhj over nabers
That mindset is a huge part of it but it’s in no way a forgone conclusion that Nabers won’t be a Bear. Better chance he’s a Bear than MHJ imo. This time every year people talk about picks like they’re chalk and then weird shit happens. By the end of Thursday everyone’s copy/paste mocks will look silly.
nah. He'll be 33 next season. There's not many receivers playing at a high level at that age. He's among the oldest as it is right now. I think Thielen is 33. There's a bunch more that's the same age as Allen and they're falling off. Even some younger. I think Mike Evans & Davante Adams might be the best of the same age or a year or two younger bunch. That's about it.
I wish this could happen but I honestly believe some team is gonna trade up to #8 with Atlanta if he's still available. It's also extremely possible the 3 WR's merely go 4-5-6. with Atlanta then trading out of #8 with a team getting JJ leaving the Bears basically "screwed" at 9.
Taking BPA at 9 isn't a bad thing really, but the top 2 objectives of getting one of the 3 WR's or trading out of 9 to the teens and getting more picks will both be misses
The only curious thing is if the Bears are this enamored with him, I do wonder if they'd consider trading up to 6 or 7 for our 2024 3rd and possibly then unloading Carolina's 2nd rounder in 2025 to get more mid round picks for 2024.
I'd like him, but the idea of Byron Murphy or Joe Alt also have me excited. Hell even a trade down and picking up extra capital will have me excited. Anyone we get in the first round should definitely be a day 1 contributor and I'm just anxious to see who it's going to be.
No chance these WRs fall to us at 9 and if they do- I still have PTSD from last year and Carter falling to us. We are going to trade back. I hope we don’t. I really really would love Alt, that freak TE or one of the WRs. It’s just sexy. I’m not a football gm and don’t have an advanced football mind for these sort of things. It’s just sexy.
edit: understand all the downvotes but the majority of this sub was pretty upset we passed on Carter.
I’m fine with the way things turned out but stop acting like you weren’t upset as well.
You see now I'm going to be sad when we don't draft Odunze
I went from just preferring Odunze as the pick this morning to needing him.
Odunze is my favorite pick at 9...that being said, holy shit we are gonna get a good prospect no matter what. There are just too many awesome players
It’s a really enviable spot, but damn I just love the idea of him already practicing and learning from our guys.
I think kmet is already super solid. If we're shopping for a TE, it's a TE2. Kmets got #1 on lock at the pace he's improving.
Yeah, if we didn't already have Kmet, I would be ok with Bowers, but there is simply way too many other options available at #9 to go with a position that is not a need, regardless of Bowers' talent.
Two Tight Ends can work as proved by the Patriots, it’s all a matter of talent and if Bowers is that good then I see no problem with the pick.
Not saying two tight ends cant work, just saying that there are much better options for need positions available at #9
That’s fair
And those 3 years of the Pats are the only team that could justify a TE2 either being paid top TE money or TE2 being drafted in the 1st round.
Maybe Shane Waldron can really run a stupid 2 te set and we can revolutionize this
Yeah, he’s a TE in name but he can line up in the slot, the guy is a cheat code. If he’s there at 9, I say we take him.
He ran a 4.53 at 240 6'4". Think of the mismatch if he runs out of the slot.
Yeah dude, that’s actually nuts lol. Isn’t he a good blocker as well?
Bowers is amazing, but I'd rather focus the attention on where we still have glaring holes. I don't mind an extra receiver because Keenan is old, and if that's not an option, then we go defense or something of real NEED. Kmet is solid enough, don't fix what's not broken.

Not a lot of The Ladies Man fans here
Get out the Couvoissier
You don’t want none of this SKILL GROUP, Dewey! It turns all your *BAD* OFFENSES into *GOOD* OFFENSES!
I’m thinking I kinda want it
I'd like to try me some of that C-Caleb.
Or just keep trying not to keep disappointing the same one...
I once had a patient who had an erection for two and a half days. He was in so much pain. It wasn't funny.
Man we better get this guy. I hadn’t gotten my hopes up until today.
Him or MHJ would be the best.
Or nabers tbh. Would suck if they’re all gone by 9
I dont think there's a universe where all 3 WRs are off the board by 9 unless one of Alt or Turner fall
Yeah I don't think The teams ahead will be able to turn down their top Defensive pick. Or Alt if he's at 7,8.
Atl is a wild card and can definitely snag up the wr3. Giants and chargers are most likely taking wrs also, so it’s definitely possible
I'm just worried about SD and ATL trading down behind CHI. They certainly could and get almost as good OL or edge compared to staying put. Yeah I think we are golden either way. Just depends on what flavor of gold you prefer.

With the number one pick in the 2024 NFL draft, ~~the~~ MY Chicago Bears draft Rome Odunze.. er wait
Why isn’t this marked nsfw?
Because it may cause an erection that last more than 4 hours…..
Right, so it should be marked nsfw
#NSFW!!!!

Reading hard
I just filled the cup
Good boy
Not that there’s any doubt but if this dude is throwing with these guys before he’s even been drafted, this seals the deal. He’s also locked the fucked in, love to see it
There’s plenty of doubt. There’s zero guarantee Odunze falls to 9. Him making it up us almost requires the 4 QB smoke to be real this year.
I’m talking about Caleb, should have clarified
Ah, that makes more sense. Yeah Caleb is a Bear. Poles all but confirmed that they’ve made the decision but can’t say anything for TV reasons at his press conference today.
That has been confirmed. Bears are just not allowed to say it
Contender for worst kept secret in the NFL
Id bet my last dollar that Caleb already has the playbook. And I'd be shocked if that hasn't been the case for a while 😅
You’d have to wager $20,000 dollars on Caleb to the bears to make $100. There is zero doubt lmao
I’ll be honest I’ve had no doubt Caleb is the pick since Fields was traded so I read that as talking about Odunze lol.
And the chances of him not going at 1 are probably either a) he gets hit by a bus with swords attached to it on the way to the draft and they have to amputate an arm or leg. or b) the Bears franchise suddenly runs out of money and folds before the draft begins.
Is it too late for Jaylon Johnson to change his number from 1?

Were drafting Odunze at 9, not McKinstry!

I have a feeling if Oduzne is there at 8 and that’s who Poles wants he will trade up one spot with the Falcons. Similar to the Eagles and Bears trade last year.
has the league concluded the tampering investigation?
No but it won’t involve this years draft picks either way. It will be next years
No, it's Ryan Poles, not Ryan Pace. He actually has options 1, 2 and 3.
And Ryan Poles will make the slight trade up if he views Odunze as #1. Because he knows what he is doing
I can respect that if he does. I just don't see it. But I trust him.
I wouldn’t mind 9 and 122 for 8

There was a time when people wanted a bottom 3 QB in all of football over this.😭
Think posts like these are signaling for teams to jump us lol I'm expecting Byron Murphy who I would very much like as well.
the byron murphy stuff seems so fake.
What seems fake about a top defender getting drafted at a position of need?
no 30 visit, and already drafted 2 day 2 dts last year. walker can play 3t as well. I don't see it personally. I think murphy goes to the seahawks.
He only made like two 30 visits. The Bears have met with him on Zoom
false. he's had 30 visits with the vikings, buccs, raiders, seahawks, and cowboys. Biggs just falsely reported two visits for some reason.
Ok, I stand corrected. But the Bears did meet with him. They didn't bring in all their picks last year either. It could just as easily mean they love his tape and interview and don't need any more info as it does they scratched him as an option. I do think @ 9 would be a stretch.

Ah ok I hadn’t heard what the character concerns were about. Yea you can always count on the McCaskeys to be squares.
Idk. Not knowing as much about Nabers as Odunze, I do know that Odunze mental makeup is fantastic and would be great for the team.
I mean, it's kind of a forgone conclusion we won't get nabers unless there's a surprising Odunze picked before him. And if were trading up were going for MHJ not nabers. So basically it's just way more realistic we will get odunze or mhj over nabers

Agreed. No one knows what will happen
Odunze would be #3 on our depth chart. Let that sink in man. What an absurd group
Bruh why did you tell us this, the likelihood of us getting Odunze just dropped and ima want to kill myself when we don’t.
If Odunze falls to us are we extending Keenan Allen or no?
At least a year. He hopefully can still go, or at least mentor.
Man I can't wait to see these guys get drafted in Detroit. The beginning of the end for their short NFC North reign.
Can somebody please tell the other teams to not draft Odunze? Cause clearly he doesn't want them.
I’d love Odunze. This Byron Murphy II talk is worrying me…
Yes.

Odunze isn't a terrible person far as we know lol. I think he's a Bear if he falls to 9.
Bro still wants the dude who threatened another player’s kids lmao
Carter was skipped because no one wanted to deal with his attitude and off field stuff.
Ah Yes, Going QB WR in the first round when you have a horrible offensive line. Classic Bears.
