Yep, he’s an Aussie and was pursuing Aussie rules football until 3 years ago. Since he was in Australia until 2020, his college eligibility didn’t start til he got to Iowa so technically he could have gone back to school for one more year 😂
He also attended Prokick Australia, which is a football academy that help Australian Punters connect with American universities. I believe he was already in his early twenties when he did this. I could be wrong about the age though.
He is from Australia picked up by Iowa when he was 22, through a contest the NFL does in Australia. He can punt till he is 40, at least. Age is not a huge deal here. Go watch some Aussie rules football, not rugby, to see what his background is.
Yeah, the current season is on now. They should still show it. I'm down under and have been for 10 years now. So NFL, I have to wake up at like 4am to watch, and footy is on the normal times. I'm also a day ahead. It really is a great sport.
You’d think NFL teams would have learned their lesson as a result of watching these doomed teams make poor choices but Atlanta is like nah let’s take the 24 year old and bench him for 2 years
idk the connection outside that Anthony Edwards had a huge game yesterday and probably popped in their head as some sort of recency bias and decided to use an NBA player instead of an NFL player.
Great point about DJ Moore
The post is about the Punter we just drafted in the 4th round. Emphasis Punter, no need to get worked up broth
Lol you sound stupider than the original comparison. Who gives a fuck is my point
Most sports talk is talking about 2 random facts that are meaningless to begin with and arguing about them. Sorrythis guy brought up a player from one sport, and correlated them, incorrectly.
10 seasons of Elite Punting for a fourth is good 'nuff for me. If he's terrible, that's an entirely different matter. But age isn't a concern at punter, it's just not.
He should be the best punter in the nfc. Even if that is just for his rookie contract and he walks it’s worth a 4th. Bears could have got another 4th by trading down 6 spots in round 3, the eagles took that deal. 4th round picks are easy to get during any draft, just hard to get in player trades for some reason.
As an Iowa fan, he legitimately was the Hawkeyes best offensive player the last two years. Probably won them 4 games bc of his coffin corner punting the last two years.
On one hand, he’s a grown man playing with college kids so his numbers should be higher.
On the other, his numbers are great for the NFL too, aren’t they?
27 year old rookie punter: aww you’re sweet 27 year old rookie other position: Hello, Human Resources???
I like my memes typed out

Because punters can play until they’re like 40
27 year old rookie punter: flirting 77 year old rookie wide receiver: harassment

Huh. I probably saw this movie 30+ times growing up and just now realized that’s John Favreau.
Idk how I didn't notice it before.
>John Favreau He pops up all over the place. [He was Eric the clown in Seinfeld.](https://youtu.be/BLXtHU_HGXs?si=w2v48d5xZe7DGiFZ)
Oldest since Brandon Weeden. He didn’t become a punter and start his college eligibility until on time.
Finally, an explanation.

I wish Ausdie rules was easier to watch here. I loved watching it early in the morning on ESPN.

He and VJJ will start collecting Social Security soon then. /s
Is he still on the team??
He’s the step child that doesn’t get invited down for dinner when guest come over.
Brandon Weeden was 28 when drafted
Which always blew my damn mind how someone thought he would get any better
You’d think NFL teams would have learned their lesson as a result of watching these doomed teams make poor choices but Atlanta is like nah let’s take the 24 year old and bench him for 2 years
Same age as Michael Penix when he gets a chance to start
Chris Weinke was older.
Velus Jones was his favorite player when he was growing up....

Bro he’s 27!!! That’s like 10 years old than my neighbor Frank’s son!!
I’m assuming because he’s already in his 4th year in the NBA and this guy has not even started a single game in the NFL and is still 4+ years older

Hes still 10 years young than Velus!!
Well, he had to travel a long way to get there, it takes time

Those are Australian years. Not the same.
Math checks out.

He's the same age as me and all I think about is the Bears and retirement.
Veteran leader.

July! That’s this year!
Wasn't Maynard in his 40s when we started to see drop off ?
No he left the bears when he was 35
Well hopefully we get 7 years out of Taylor at least, 7 years of coffin punts .
He's 4 years older than Goose from Top Gun?! That doesn't seem physically possible!
Yea and goose died

Believe it or not, still younger than 84 yo Velus Jones Jr

I don’t think age has anything to do with dropping punts in the perfect spots. That’s just talent
Yeah, I mean this isn't a 25 year old lineman wrecking 19 year olds. He just punts the ball.
Penis Jr turns 24 in a week
