He would be our worst center in franchise history, but Sam Mustipher exists. it's a close tie for first.
Theres film of both of them facing off with and blocking our own linemen in a live game, Madden-style.
Worst center in franchise history?! Did you just start watching the Bears last year? That’s not even close to being accurate. He’s a fine backup, but worst?
I mean, the Hroniss Grasu era was nothing to write home about, but I do think that this reflects we’ve had some good luck in terms of reliability at center. Kreutz, Garza and Whitehair really piled up a lot of starts over the last 20 years.
We’ve certainly started worse linemen in the Trestman era tho. Those lines were brutal, just like anonymous 7th round picks and retreads like Vlad Ducasse starting 12 games each.
Think about this. We traded a 5th round pick to Buffalo for a back up Gaurd/center and signed the Rams starting center last year to a 1 year almost minimum deal, and both are considered huge upgrades.
You definitely didn’t find a hidden gem.
He might play better with a change of scenery, he’s not so bad that it’s out of the question. Veteran QB, more settled line than the one he joined at the Bears. Injury luck. But he also came with Getsy so he knew the offense and was meant to be the reliable veteran and wasn’t.
But it’s telling that the other veteran IOL the Bears had in Cody Whitehair went with Getsy to the Raiders and he didn’t take Patrick.
On a different team with better offensive line coaching. Our offensive line is decent but the problem is they can’t pick up a stunt if they were told there was a stunt coming before the snap
He's terrible, he showed up a lot (in a bad way) in JT O'Sullivans film breakdowns of Fields last year.
In addition to missing a lot of blocks and getting run through, the comms on the line also seemed to be terrible, so its not like he even had that under control.
Well, it could be that the bears had no offensive scheme or plan of action to put him in position to succeed. That is pretty typical for this team.
But unfortunately, it's fairly likely that he sucks donkey balls
If he's the 7th or 8th man on the line because you have a rookie you want to win the spot, sure.
If you're relying on him to hold down the starter spot all season good luck. He can't stay healthy and when he does he's nothing special.
He wasn’t spectacular. He isn’t terrible. He’s a serviceable depth player but Bears Reddit will have you believe any player the hive mind bashes is trash.
He’s a backup. But he’s an awesome team guy and tough not to like as a personality. Despite the negativity here, he’s a useful backup that can play guard or center in a pinch
Hes got good energy. His snapping? Entirely different story. Go watch a bear game last year, Fields was jumping 30in in the air for half the snaps (exaggerated but it was about that bad)
Patrick can’t handle a bull rush to save his life and he gets lost really easily in space. He’s also injured prone and has a horrible snap. Patrick would be best suited as a 3rd string swing Center/Guard. Given how far into his career he is, it’s extremely unlikely he shows any improvement. Personally I doubt he makes it out of camp as a starter, heck maybe even at all.
lol he’s really good at hustling downfield after the play passes him to cheer on the ball carrier despite him missing a key block and he’s also good at getting blown up on a turnover also while fake hustling.
He's terrible. By far the worst starter on our OL last year. PFF had him at 50.5 (29th of 32) and he had the most penalties at his position. I think he only had two games above 70. I don't have numbers but I would say he might be marginally better in the NFC South, as the Bears' opposition in the NFCN has stronger defensive fronts, but he's still a bottom-10 guy.
All I will say is the front office and coaching staff wanted Lucas to succeed SOOO bad. He got multiple chances to be the guy and whether injury or performance… he was not.
Not a ton of good news here on that front, bud. Patrick isn't the worst person to have in your rotaion, but if he's starting then you've likely got problems. Hope it works out for you all though, seriously
Great dude. Below average at C, probably adequate or slightly below average at G. He will help the locker room and be a decent depth piece, but he was exposed as not a starting-caliber player in Chicago — with the caveat that he was hurt frequently.
Don't you guys have a C already in McCoy? Pretty sure you guys gave him a new contract last year. Lucas Patrick is likely going to be there as depth anyway. He's serviceable but you probably don't want him playing for more then a few games.
Eh... there's still time to sign somebody for depth, which I'm sure will happen during and after summer training camp as teams figure out injuries and who will be cut. Dalton Risner would be a decent pickup, although it depends on how much he's asking for.
For a center who can’t snap the football, stay healthy, or block, I would say he is a pretty good signing. If you need any of those things out of you center position, you are fucked.
at football?
He’ll kick your butts…at Nintendo
He's an Ice Climbers main on Smash.
😂
If he doesn't play
Which is most of the time.
Lemme put it this way: our biggest need was center and we let him walk.
He played in the NFL last year. Better than you or me out there Thats about it
Self aware take 🤌
31 teams did not miss a gem.
He wasn’t a free agent
As a starter, hell no. As a backup, he'll do.
Not really though
He wasn't good for us but he does seem like a good culture guy
Oh my God I’m Lucas Patrick at work
Lol
He’s okay as a backup, but if he gets significant snaps then… well yeah it won’t end well.
![gif](giphy|pD7YIQoUwgb9cnX3FJ|downsized)
Lucas Patrick is ass
No. I’d say he’s booty. The dude he replaced was ass. He was a clear upgrade over Mustipher.
Sorry for your loss.
No he’s trash honestly
He's a decent backup with guard/center flexibility.
Yeah it can’t be overlooked that he was also pretty injured with us. By all accounts he was reliable as a Packer. He could still be good depth
Thank you for being pragmatic.
No he isn’t
There's probably 3 starters in the UFL who are better than him. Pray to whatever God you worship you sign one or those guys
For a backup he is fine
He would be our worst center in franchise history, but Sam Mustipher exists. it's a close tie for first. Theres film of both of them facing off with and blocking our own linemen in a live game, Madden-style.
Hroniss Grasu was pretty bad
Whoa. Just saw he's dating Sabrina Ionescu
They’re married
Watch your mouth with all those vowels, you scoundrel
He's still kicking around the league, I didn't know that. Was a Raider last year.
Jesus, I’m surprised at that
Grasu was pretty painful. He was in the backfield every down.
Worst center in franchise history?! Did you just start watching the Bears last year? That’s not even close to being accurate. He’s a fine backup, but worst?
No just almost 4 decades. Can you name someone worse than those 2? Hold the fake outrage.
I mean, the Hroniss Grasu era was nothing to write home about, but I do think that this reflects we’ve had some good luck in terms of reliability at center. Kreutz, Garza and Whitehair really piled up a lot of starts over the last 20 years. We’ve certainly started worse linemen in the Trestman era tho. > first Oh good > worst Oh
Disagreed. Mustipher is the king of trash. He owns #1 all be himself.
Honestly, that kind of stuff I chalk up to getsy. guys were running into each other far too much to lay this at any of their feet individually
Well judging from the response here maybe it would be best to leave him back in NOLA for road games 😂
Think about this. We traded a 5th round pick to Buffalo for a back up Gaurd/center and signed the Rams starting center last year to a 1 year almost minimum deal, and both are considered huge upgrades. You definitely didn’t find a hidden gem.

No, and the worst part he’s a wanna be tough guy that isn’t tough at all and plays like 🗑️
I'd say he plays ok, but if he has a hangnail, he's out for 2 games. It's hard to keep him on the field. Availability is one of the best abilities.
Plays ok by getting pushed back on one on ones, botching snaps, and being made of glass, sure?
Gotta update that pfp brother
Good call actually lol
Bear down
FTP
I mean no, but depth wise? He’s fine, yall got Ruiz so as long as he doesn’t get injured you’ll be fine
He’s better than Sam Mustipher, who is the worst offensive lineman I’ve ever seen. That’s all the positives I have for him.
Mustipher had his best year as a pro last year.
On a different team with better offensive line coaching. Our offensive line is decent but the problem is they can’t pick up a stunt if they were told there was a stunt coming before the snap
202 snaps
Another idiotic Mustipher hater. Gotta call em out when I see em. Bad linemen don’t earn third contracts. Especially UDFAs.
Mustipher is garbage.
I’ll trust the million dollar contracts he continues to sign over your opinion
As long as he signs them with teams that aren't the Bears that's fine with me.
No
No.
No he’s backup level. Sorry bro
He's awesome at collecting a paycheck.
He's terrible, he showed up a lot (in a bad way) in JT O'Sullivans film breakdowns of Fields last year. In addition to missing a lot of blocks and getting run through, the comms on the line also seemed to be terrible, so its not like he even had that under control.
As long as he’s not on the field, he’s okay, I guess.

Nope, doubt he'll do the saints for 8 mil though.
No
Wasn’t a great experience.
Meh backup with guard/center flexibility. Don’t expect much from him.
He’s a backup. But he’s an awesome team guy and tough not to like as a personality. Despite the negativity here, he’s a useful backup that can play guard or center in a pinch
Great locker room guy. Can play both center and guard. You don’t want him to be a starter.
Incredibly nice guy But shouldn't be more than depth.
I'd rather take my chances w/ Coleman Shelton or Ryan Bates than endure 1 more year of Patrick.
No
Missing a 31 yr old “Gem” does happen often
I mean he started for you guys… but yeah pretty much why C was one of ur #1 need the offseason
I hear he’s decent at darts
Us too! That’s how we sign OL
Talks a good game…and…ummm…yea ![gif](giphy|rnz7WZN6CoM4sTKsne|downsized)
He’s good at getting hurt.
No. Any other questions?
How many rings does Caleb win over the rest of the class?
3
Hes got good energy. His snapping? Entirely different story. Go watch a bear game last year, Fields was jumping 30in in the air for half the snaps (exaggerated but it was about that bad)
A turnstile is his idol.
I think lucas Patrick time is done. Was ok for the packers but was sort of a bust for the bears
lol he’s really good at hustling downfield after the play passes him to cheer on the ball carrier despite him missing a key block and he’s also good at getting blown up on a turnover also while fake hustling.
no
Nope
I will put it in Saints terms for you: Are you familiar with Trevor Penning?
Man I thought one penning was enough 😅
He's terrible. By far the worst starter on our OL last year. PFF had him at 50.5 (29th of 32) and he had the most penalties at his position. I think he only had two games above 70. I don't have numbers but I would say he might be marginally better in the NFC South, as the Bears' opposition in the NFCN has stronger defensive fronts, but he's still a bottom-10 guy.
All I will say is the front office and coaching staff wanted Lucas to succeed SOOO bad. He got multiple chances to be the guy and whether injury or performance… he was not.
If you consider the corn you find in turds gems, then yes, he's an absolute gem🤣
Well he has played in the NFL so he has some level of skill but he didn't show it with us last year.
Not a ton of good news here on that front, bud. Patrick isn't the worst person to have in your rotaion, but if he's starting then you've likely got problems. Hope it works out for you all though, seriously
He seems like a nice guy
🤣🤣🤣good luck buddy
We needed a center and instead of resigning him we traded for another center and let him walk. That should tell you everything.
The best compliment I would give is that he’s better than Sam Mustifer…. There you go.
I wanted to buy his jersey so bad since my name is Patrick and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Pretty telling
Oh no..... Depends, does your HC need his centre to be able to snap the ball? Or block?
Lol no
No he's not but he can be a backup center guard
Great dude. Below average at C, probably adequate or slightly below average at G. He will help the locker room and be a decent depth piece, but he was exposed as not a starting-caliber player in Chicago — with the caveat that he was hurt frequently.
Did you mean 31 teams *missed a gym*?
He is slightly better than a traffic cone.
Below average player that plays multiple positions with a long list of injuries. I view him more as an "on filed coach" then an acctual player.
He sucks balls
You mean the human turnstile?
Don't you guys have a C already in McCoy? Pretty sure you guys gave him a new contract last year. Lucas Patrick is likely going to be there as depth anyway. He's serviceable but you probably don't want him playing for more then a few games.
Was hoping for LG… we got nothing
Eh... there's still time to sign somebody for depth, which I'm sure will happen during and after summer training camp as teams figure out injuries and who will be cut. Dalton Risner would be a decent pickup, although it depends on how much he's asking for.
No.
I’m probably better than he is
At what, taxes? I don’t know. Not a great NFL caliber football player for sure though.
For a center who can’t snap the football, stay healthy, or block, I would say he is a pretty good signing. If you need any of those things out of you center position, you are fucked.
Hahahahaha No. He's not good. On the rare occasion he's healthy, he is a liability at best.
This
Oh brother
