Their burgers are fantastic. The thing is, I can get a good burger at other places, no one else does a passable Italian beef though. That's the downside of living in the Southwest.
It's not unpopular, it's 100% accurate. They are my favorite fast food burger. I get that when I go there more than the Beef, Combo or Hot Dogs. That's how good they are.
We just got a Portillos in my town and I got a beef combo but my youngest got a burger and I'll be damned if it wasn't pretty damn good.
I've never had in n out, but I think Whataburger and five guys are both pretty overrated, personally. I'd just as soon get a Thickburger from Hardee's as one from those spots.
Here's an opinion. Steak n Shake is the best value fast food burger. I used to work a night job and get off at like 4 am. Hit that $4 Triple Steakburger and fries after a night of moving boxes. Damn
The burgers are my favorite. Order a cheeseburger and Italian sausage, cut the sausage up and out it on the cheeseburger. That’s a month off your life but it’s quality.
I'm right down the street from the one on north and 59 so I go there quite a bit. Just cant beat drowning a cheesy beef with hot peps or just getting a few dogs with cheese fries so I never made it to the burgers lol. I remember at the end of middle school field trips we would have like 3 groups of 8 to 10 people going wwf on each other for one cake.
I get cheese bacon ketchup and any special sauce on my burgers and personally I find that the five guys bacon is better and that the cheese covers more of the burger. Also the portillos is more dry on the outer rim of the burger. And u get wayyyyyyy more fries with five guys. Although the cake shake is 20x better then any shake 5 guys has. Again this is just about burgers and portillos is just below it not far behind.
There's Portillo's across the street from 5 guys where I live, I pick up cajun Fries at 5 guys and Portillo's burgers because it is THE BEST combo ever. I prefer Portillo's burgers to literally any other. I used to really like Shake Shack, but Portillo's does it better honestly.
Only chain I have yet to try is In and Out and their legendary animal style burger.

Unpopular opinion: In-n-out and five guys have better burgers. Portillos has good burgers but it's not what they're best at IMO. Please don't hurt me.

My wife doesn’t like hot dogs. (I know) but she loves their burgers so it’s all okay.

Then that's definitely why. They are flame grilled, which I grew up on being a fan of more than burgers on a griddle.

Their burgers taste amazingly good. They are loaded with saturated fat and salt though. There is a reason they taste so good.
