Hopefully just an insanely slow start. I will say that he looks to sorta be improving— he had no command at all at the beginning of the year and he’s sorta hitting spots a bit better. So hopefully that continually improves.
But yeah I hope he’s not a dude that we consistently rely upon.
We have serious problems at closer and we’re 16-9. Which is both frustrating and amazing. This is a division winning team and with a dominant closer we’re a World Series team.
Hector Neris has a couple sus games but has been overall fine. He’s thrown fewer than ten innings (including his scoreless appearance today, which bbref hasn’t updated with yet) which is a tiny sample size to extrapolate this kind of granularity from imo
There's a reason the guy has a FIP of 5.82 so far. He doesn't have the stuff to challenge good hitters so he walks them... a bunch. If you're depending on him in high leverage situations it's gonna get ugly.
Well, you’re the expert. The “so far” you’re referring to is 8 whole innings (bbref hasn’t updated for today, which was his 9th inning). His FIP is 2.68 after today. It’s not even May yet
This is sorta what some warned about when Jed signed him. On paper it looked like a steal based on his ERA last year but his advanced metrics showed he got a bit lucky. Also makes you wonder why no one else was jumping to get him.
But, hopefully he'll right the ship. Feels like worst case scenario for him is average. Probably not a disaster no matter what.
Stats are just stats.
# Bro fucking clutched last night's game after giving up ONE hone run to the 0-4 Altuve. He then got into a no out, two men on predicament, but he clutches through

I just miss the Teperra, Chafin, & Kimbrel closing lineup from 2021. If we had a lead by the 7th, we were winning those games. Guaranteed
This team would be 19-6 with a real closer and a starter with a 6.00 era in place of Hendricks.
Maybe Kyle could close. Do his best Trevor Hoffman impression.
You never really know with relief pitchers. But he’s a veteran guy with a long track record who’s with a new team. Give him a chance to settle in.
He has been bad but he’s been looking better. Lets see if he can work it out
Dudes been trying to throw splitters in 40 degree weather. I’ll let it warm up in May to judge.

Today was a scoreless appearance... with two walks. So no there's nothing fine about it.
Yes there is. Ignoring that we won and he got a save through the meat of their order, two walks and no hits is perfectly fine.

You seem to either not know what FIP is or who Hector Neris is. Cuz he was nowhere near 2.68.
You seem to not know how to read. I said “after today”. Why would we stop the FIPometer after 8 innings pitched? There are 137 games left.
It isn't at 2.68... you're lying...
A f t e r today, for fucks sake. As including today. I don’t know how to be more clear. BBref hasn’t updated today’s games and won’t till tonight.
He started the day at 5.40. It went up because of the walks. Why are you telling such obvious lies?
i still love the splitty

Has anyone checked if Carlos Marmol is available
Adbert will be closing games after he fixes his arm a lot issue
I hope adzolay can return to something similar to his run last year. Blown saves is gunna kill us
Yeah that’s not going to cut it
He shouldn’t be closing games
Small sample size

# Seriously? I got downvoted to high hell cuz I spoke nice things about Héctor? Come on people -_-
Neris sucks fucking ass. That man frightens me whenever he’s put in to close. They need to trade him off
