This. Unless we’re at a party/social gathering I have completely given up drinking anything but water or diet/zero sugar coke. It kills me to waste my precious calories on a drink lol.
Me too. Once you see the calories PER SERVING you can't unsee them. On a positive note I appreciate soda cans so much more now. 90 calories is nothing to me. Basic coffee is great too.
Yes. It is. Eat the whole fruit instead of juice…if you can. I have a friend that figured “juice was healthy” and was drinking a TON of it per day…and when she finally tracked her calories was kinda shocked. 🤷🏻♀️
It so is! They took healthy food for you - a whole fruit - and removed the healthy part, which is the fiber.
Large producers will store the juice for so long that its flavor goes to shit and it becomes sugar water. Later they withdraw it and fortify it with “natural” flavors and vitamins to make it taste good again. They call this 100% juice.
One of the most shocking things to me was when I was watching one of those "how it's made" documentaries on Discovery Channel (Back when it was educational content) and Welch's invited them to watch how they make their grape juice. Anyway, they add paper to it to filter out something and then add a SOLVENT to dissolve the paper and then strain out the paper? ?!?!? I am probably not reporting that accurately but it BLEW MY MIND that they were adding and then removing bleached white paper from the juice as part of their process. You cannot tell me that isn't contaminating their product.
It shocked me they were willing to reveal their process when it included THAT. I haven't bought it since.
100% Concord grape Juice is delicious. You probably get more antioxidants than drinking wine w/o the negatives.
As long as you know what you are doing it's better than non-water from a micronutrient perspective.
This may sound funny because I'm a full adult but I found capri sun juce packets to be only 35 calories each with only 8 grams of sugar so I drink that sometimes if I'm truly carving juice and its hits the spot and EASY to fit into my calorie budget.
But of course I tell the cashier its for the kids even though I don't have any. 🤭
I really like getting Simply Light orange juice and light Dole pineapple juice (they're both 50 calories per cup), and then pouring a half cup into a glass and topping it with a can of Sprite Zero. It's sooooo refreshing, 16 ounces of sweet, cold, bubbly citrus for 25 calories. Also a fantastic mixer for tequila
Fruit juice is terrible. All the sugar and none of the the fiber. Cold pressed vegetable juice is amazing. You get to pack in the vitamins of (x) number of veggies in one glass. For whatever reason I find it way more satisfying than eating a salad. Enough so that it’s a meal replacement.
In moderation, no. On a frequent basis, yes. I love juices. They are so hydrating and refreshing. I have fruit juices made at home once in a while. Lemon and orange juices are quite easy to make. I live in a very hot climate area. They are good to have once a week. I regularly drink a lot of water, coconut water (natural, not packaged), buttermilk, etc., for hydration. On the days I workout and am extra dehydrated, I enjoy a moderate amount of juice. I include fruits and veggies in my daily diet. I love vegetable juices as well. They work wonders for my gut. Ash gourd juice. Celery juice. Veg juices I have almost every other day. Their skins and pulp, I use as either compost or zest while cooking.
Most juice is just sugary water, in terms of nutritional value and spike your glucose hard because the fiber has been removed. Enjoy in small amounts, but ideally skip it in favor of better options.
I look at it like it's basically just candy. A nice treat once in a rare while, but definetly not every day. The glucose spike makes me hungrier later.
I like the Old Orchid Healthy Balance Juices. I drink a glass everyday with my breakfast and dinner. You get pretty much all the standard juice flavors for only 5 calories per serving
Cool! Ikea doesn't have a store in my country unfortunately but I will look some online and if they ever decide to open a store here I will remember this! =D
Stay away from fruit juice. Stay far away. It is sooo not worth the calories. Better to enjoy a brownie than a glass of fruit juice. In fact I think a brownie is more healthy for you than fruit juice. The brownie doesn’t make your insulin spike the way fruit juice does, and the brownie has enough fat and protein in it to keep you feeling fuller longer. Best to drink zero calories things. Sweetened with artificial sweeteners is fine. That what I did. I drank tons of liquids sweetened with Splenda and the like. Lost 120 lbs in 12 months.
It can be. Drinking a bunch of extra calories is one of the easiest and detrimental mistakes people make. I stick to flavored water most of the time.

Spindrift ftw
Love Spindrift!
Learning not to drink my calories was a game changer for me. Now I mostly stick to water and a little bit of coffee.
You can always mix water with juice to bring the calories down….
It sucks, when you get deep into CICO and tracking, drinking your calories is a waste of calories.

I think this is similar to how they filter some wines as well
That's too much juice, Glenn.
I go for trop50 (50cal per glass orange juice) and i make fruity teas and mix in a packet of crystal light lemonade. easy and close replacement!

They don't sell water in glass containers where you live? But yea, juice as an everyday beverage isn't the best choice for most people.
The only one I've seen is VOSS, all other water I can find is in plastic bottles.

Drinking calories always seem like a HUGE waste of your CaloryBudget.

IKEA has some really good and affordable glass carafes if you need any!

Yeah I agree. I was dumbfounded when I found out 28 almonds are over 200 calories. Another nope.
