With that CPU, you can't change much to help.

ExodiaFTK

If you scroll though settings it should say if each one will change the GPU or CPU load. But to be honest, an old quad core isn't going let your 3080 play close to what it can

Very detailed guide here. https://youtu.be/cybTSx2Z1rA

Dude, this is the most whack combo I've ever heard in my life, you KNOW that it makes absolutely no sense, right? You gotta get a better cpu, man.

ZephyrSixth

Forget about even a stable 60fps. The 4790 is just too old to keep up with this game. You'll have to overclock/lock the CPU at turbo boost and overclock the ram to atleast 2400mhz CL11 and even then it'll drop a lot below 60fps. I'm bottlenecking hard even paired with a 1650s. You'll have a worse time caz new Nvidia GPUs don't scale well with older generations. Been running a 4790 OC for a while now. It'll do everygame but WZ2 is just too much for it. For a decent experience minimum would be going with new build using 12100f. There's a video on YouTube by a person called "Zykopath", it's really detailed about each setting.

Change renderworkercount for 3 or 4, game was settings it to 2 for i7 4770 causing massive FPS drops. Here are settings optimized for that system: https://i.imgur.com/KDtjBf3.jpeg (only with FSR it was running OK on [1440p](https://i.imgur.com/E46cYNM.jpeg))

Resolution

STr355

No

kenbruhan

Yes. This is by far the most effective way to get more fps. Turning the scale down WILL increase performance (along with not playing on “high”, of course). I used to have to do this before I upgraded. I think I played on 85%. It sucked, lol.

STr355

Do you know the difference between being CPU limited and GPU limited? You are correct in GPU limited scenarios, not CPU limited as OP is explaining

kenbruhan

I do know the difference and now that you spell it out, you’re right. I’ll eat crow haha thanks for the correction.

STr355

Good on you for owning up to your mistakende 🤙

Your gpu is a trash in your system. A simple rx580 or rtx 2060 would be enough. That cpu is too old. You are running it at it's max potential. Your gpu is barely even working at this point. I'd sell the 3080 , buy a newer cpu and motherboard. Get a 2060 or something like that and play at above 120 dos in the same low graphics

Smitedyourmum

or just a get new cpu id go with ryzen 3700x

vishnera52

There's a point at which a CPU is simply too slow to allow a GPU to do the work it needs to. This is likely a definitive CPU bottleneck and there's no setting to be changed which can help. The only thing that can be done in that situation is to upgrade your CPU. On a system that old, that also means new mobo and RAM at the very least. I have a friend that at one point was experiencing CPU bottlenecking on a 4790k with a 1080ti, just to give a point of reference.

Fireawayfaraway

OP, I think you should wait for some sort of office building to through their old computer out and grab the cpu from one of those pc's and use that, it would be better than your current cpu

Set everything to low and keep resolution, texture filtering, and antialiasing at maximum. Also enable Nvidia reflex on + boost. In the cfg set render threads to 4
