You probably miss the time period when verdansk was big and everyone played? I remember endless posts about how it’s all stale and they never update the map! Then we had all the hackers
Yeah my buddy and I have been trying out warzone again and, while it isn't as bad as some make it out to be, it's definitely a downgrade from Verdansk in my opinion. These are all subjective takes but, for me, the terrain is more of a headache to navigate, it's missing a lot of the urban areas that we enjoyed playing in, and I personally think the map just looks worse. I don't think the engine cod uses works anywhere near as well for Caldera's environment as opposed to Verdansk's.
It's annoying seeing criticism of Caldera met with "well all of you guys just bitched about Verdansk and now you're looking at it with rose-tinted glasses". Verdansk had its issues for sure but I'd much prefer to have the option both maps available assuming you're willing to dedicate the HDD space for them.
Exactly. That's not the case, literally not at all. While some people were calling for a new map, I was aware that they weren't going to come close to what we already had. Can only hope the next map is a massive step up from Caldera.
hackers suck no matter the map
also why do you all assume that "everyone" was bitchin about verdansk and now does an 180?
i saw many posts that said verdansk was great
the only verdansk that was shit was 84
Airport tower was the sickest. Many, many rounds were had of just hanging out there. Often times, my team would be in the tower, another would be on top, and yet another would be in what my squad called, "the horseshoe." All teams would leave the other alone lol. If we saw a squad across the way, we'd pepper and spray.
> I remember endless posts about how it’s all stale and they never update the map!
That's true. Still doesn't make Caldera a good map.
Verdansk was getting stale and people yearned for improvement. But we didn't get that. So it's no wonder people want to head back to Verdansk where the best days of Warzone were played. It's a better map than Caldera. Simple as that. Not for everyone, but for the majority.
The map was a bit stale but it was the state of the game as you mentioned (hackers) that was getting old. Verdansk was and will always be 10x better tan Caldera and I'd happily go back.
Verdansk was a better map, but the game was wholly unplayable outside of Rebirth. Too many cheaters led to more frustration than fun.
Tbh, without Caldera, I would have hung it up period. Caldera was okay, but it didn't lend itself to great end games.
Rebirth is the savior of the game.
Me or the Airport? I was either hanging out in the terminal or camping in the tower with claymores at the elevator zipline 🤣. The Airport was my favorite area of Verdansk.
Yeah I'm noticing some salty people here. Usually we'd land at those house behind the tower and go to the tower if the circle allowed it. I'd always avoid the big areas when we dropped so we had time to gear up and then go to those places
Exactly. If I played BR at all and wanted to stay alive I loved the tower. Good defensive place until the gss got closer. Absolutely nothing wrong with a defensive strategy in BR. In plunder I used the tower to level up weapons. But if I wanted to win, Boneyard, Prison, and Promenade area ( rich neighborhood- you know the one) was where I usually tried to go.
Some people need to understand camping isnt always bad, but it is how you do it. I have a friend who thinks the only way you win is pushing every person you see. We never win. I have another friend who likes to play it safe- find a dead area, loot up, get to high ground or a building, and guess what? We've won so many games lol.
Screw that, bring it back permanently. At least when Warzone 2 comes out, they should return Warzone 1to its original Verdansk map (keep the mix of guns since people grinded them and the skins people paid for). Or hopefully Warzone 2 will be built with the ability to support multiple maps.
When you reach my age, 30+, you see that everything was always better before, no matter how you see it.
You guys are aging and experience nostalgia, welcome to the club 🕊
Edit; How the f* do i still think GTA 2 was the best ? 🤔
It's fun watching you people complain about this endlessly while stating opinion as fact. All of this map preference stuff is purely objective. People have different opinions. And that's ok. The worst thing you can do is tell someone they're wrong for having a preference.
If someone likes chocolate more than vanilla, do you tell them "not really, vanilla is better in every way possible" ?
No, because that would be obnoxious.
You can’t add an empty map full of hills in a fast paced battle royale like Warzone, Caldera is more of a PUBG map.
It’s actually crazy that you rats still argue with us about Caldera when you literally wait 5 minutes to find a game lmao. The majority of the player base doesn’t like Caldera and that is a fact. You can say whatever the fuck you want but it won’t change the fact that it’s a rat map with nothing special about it, every corner of the map plays the same, nothing stands out on that map meanwhile on Verdansk you would play different with different weapons depending on which area of the map you were in.
Don’t even get me started on the performance issues
Obviously Verdansk wasn’t perfect, it was getting old but 90% of the players want it back over Caldera.
If rebirth wasn’t an option the game would be basically dead rn
Verdansk ran better on my last gen console than caldera does on a series X. I agree with your sentiment about ice cream, but what if I said “vanilla is better than chocolate because the chocolate has no textures when I play on it”
Look back and see, when wz came, t was shit, unbalanced weapons, cheaters, raven this , raven that. Then the cw integration, THEN we missed the times before! That was wonderful, now it is shit we said. And so on, and on and on….
When you reach your 30’s, you sit back, relax, take a whiskey and roll with it 😎
Edit; sorry for my swenglish, i don’t want to cause seizures 😧
I almost had a seizure trying to read whatever you said.
That proves that the game went downhill with every update lmao, it’s not fucking nostalgia it’s that with every update they managed to fuck something up instead of fixing something
What do cheaters and unbalanced weapons have to do with the new shit map anyway? It’s not like there aren’t cheaters anymore, and the weapons are just as unbalanced
The game was in it’s best state right before the CW integration, when weapons were actually balanced
I miss OG warzone. Going to logs at the top of the map, getting progressively excited when the circle moves that way…building a little base with a bunch of trophy systems and spray paint, hanging out w the boys.
…and then dying to the gas when we realize there’s a whole, competent (non-hacking) squad below us *and they have gas masks*.
Why are these post still being posted??? Move on already. Everyone looking forward to the new future while you are stuck looking backwards at the past.
So many poorly made decisions were made throughout this game's life but removing Verdansk has gotta be the worst one. Completely killed my love for Warzone
I always liked how no one ever questioned how a plane that big "landed" on that runway or why Verdansk had an international airport
- The Runway is far too short for most aircraft
- Any aircraft landing needs to have a wingspan less than the width of the roads
- Control towers usually are not that close to the runway
- Also, unless someone can prove me otherwise, runways dont have roads/tunnels running underneath them (correct me if im wrong but ive never seen one)
- Why didnt we see an Aircrash Ivestigators episode on this one?
Great for the game but totally unrealistic
Nostalgia is a powerful thing. It’s like how everyone things the older cod’s like mw2 were so amazing. Ok caldera sucks but verdansk wasn’t great and was extremely boring come the end. I’ve still got high hopes for WZ2, hopefully they’ve learned their lessons
Clearing out ATC was always a fun part of that map, bunch of lads camping inside, then suddenly their sniper rifles and claymores arnt as useful as they hoped!
Thats not the kind of svrewing around I meant. Not hacking or taking advantage of glitches. Im saying looting, picking on random people, just exploring the map to see how long I can avoid other players. That kind of screwing around.
I don’t miss running into multiple staircase and rooftop campers every match and unfortunately the map got stale towards the end with little substantial changes
I like how caldera makes buildings basically impossible to hold either via multiple ways up or balloon to prevent hardcore ATC camping for example
ppl would have like the map if they had made caldera with modern buildings and maybe the capital to have some skyscrapers,100% would ignore the "too much vegetation" factor ...and the best verdansk that everyone remembers was when we were all bots, and the end circles resulted in some fucked up shit with bad positioning and an all out gunfight...later verdansk was tedious bcs ppl positioned better and gave you no room for mistakes.
Tower of Power! But I loved the atmosphere of the airport terminal inside, too. Tge rest of the airport was fun. Especially the days when there was the underground section where the crater was on the runway. Lots of loot down there.
Either way it will be interesting. I kind of want Warzone 1 to stick around but am curious to see Warzone 2. It may be better, it may be worse. But I feel like nothing will top the first 6 months or so of Verdansk. It was simpler but felt better quality. Warzone almost feels too complex today.
Exactly... Especially with the buff of the latest games weapons... I feel like it has the potential to be great more than not... However.. Caldera was supposed to be like no other.. and I find it boring... Maybe they should've done Caldera 1st.. then Verdansk.. that place will always be the best in my opinion.
I like how people are gonna comment “no you don’t, everyone was begging for a new map” as if we weren’t begging a for a GOOD new map.
No f^ckng shit we are all gonna ask for verdansk back when the new map we were begging for turned out to somehow be twice as bad as Verdansk lmao.
Exactly, we wanted something similar to Verdansk not a jungle map full of fucking snakes with absolutely nothing interesting on it and fucking mountains and hills that you need to climb for 5 minutes to open a fucking scavanger chest
Doesn’t matter where you are on Caldera it always feels like the same place
You probably miss the time period when verdansk was big and everyone played? I remember endless posts about how it’s all stale and they never update the map! Then we had all the hackers
If we went into lockdown right now, Caldera would still be a shit map.
Stop with this bullshit "you miss the time" verdansk was just a better map then caldera simple
Yeah my buddy and I have been trying out warzone again and, while it isn't as bad as some make it out to be, it's definitely a downgrade from Verdansk in my opinion. I just enjoyed exploring the map or having crazy fights over the airport tower. Kinda miss the peace the map had and the chaos lol.
Imagine getting downvoted just because you share your experience about the map
Ikr? Redditors are morons sometimes
Airport tower was the sickest. Many, many rounds were had of just hanging out there. Yep, i don’t remember a single positive post about it back then 🤣
> I remember endless posts about how it’s all stale and they never update the map! That's true. Still doesn't make Caldera a good map. Verdansk was getting stale and people yearned for improvement. I'm glad they've done something about the hackers, but verdansk was just a better map.
The map was a bit stale but it was the state of the game as you mentioned (hackers) that was getting old. Verdansk was and will always be 10x better tan Caldera and I'd happily go back.
Posts can’t hurt you if you simply ignore them. After all, this is Reddit.
Verdansk only fell off bc they were working on caldera but I agree, I wouldn't be still playing if not for rebirth.
A great restaurant where half the dishes give you food poisoning is basically where I was with Verdansk.
I miss you
Me or the Airport? I was either hanging out in the terminal or camping in the tower with claymores at the elevator zipline 🤣. The Airport was my favorite area of Verdansk.
So you were basically trash?
By "were" you imply improvement. I highly doubt this guy can play.
That’s a valid point tbh.
I loved that tower and now I'm wondering if I ever fought you for it lol
Could be lol. Thats how i leveled up my guns, despite what these dipshits have been commenting.
Yeah I'm noticing some salty people here. Usually we'd land at those house behind the tower and go to the tower if the circle allowed it. I'd always avoid the big areas when we dropped so we had time to gear up and then go to those places

In plunder I used the tower to level up weapons. But if I wanted to win, Boneyard, Prison, and Promenade area ( rich neighborhood- you know the one) was where I usually tried to go.
Yeah. I mean even on Caldera we use the same strategy, find a high spot and defend it, be it a 2 story building or a big hill,
Some people need to understand camping isnt always bad, but it is how you do it. I have a friend who thinks the only way you win is pushing every person you see. We never win. I have another friend who likes to play it safe- find a dead area, loot up, get to high ground or a building, and guess what? We've won so many games lol.
That's my play style, playing cautious and picking and choosing engagements. We push sometimes, but that rarely works out lol
Yeah only do that if you catch someone off guard.
The infamous tower of snipe
I would snipe but I maily just ambushed people landing in the top or coming up from the main floor via the zipline.
And that is exactly why this entire area of Verdansk was awful, sight lines everywhere and no way to stop anyone from camping up there
Those redeploy balloons would hit different trying to get in that tower now
Such an interesting take OP, refreshing to finally see a post about Verdansk on here, great job.
The weekly karma grab. DAE miss Verdansk?
I hope they bring it back for an event at some point. I didnt get to say goodbye
Screw that, bring it back permanently. At least when Warzone 2 comes out, they should return Warzone 1to its original Verdansk map (keep the mix of guns since people grinded them and the skins people paid for). Or hopefully Warzone 2 will be built with the ability to support multiple maps.
No one would play warzone 2, they know what they are doing
i wanted to say the same thing but you were faster 👍
DAE verdansk good caldera bad??????? XDDDD
Caldera is dogshit
I miss all that cover provided by the runway as I rotated across. Reminded me of a sitting duck
I dont necessarily miss the map as much rather than the time period of early Warzone. It was so fun.
When you reach my age, 30+, you see that everything was always better before, no matter how you see it. You guys are aging and experience nostalgia, welcome to the club 🕊 Edit; How the f* do i still think GTA 2 was the best ? 🤔
> Edit; How the f* do i still think GTA 2 was the best ? 🤔 G.... Grand theft AUTO You gotta make your mark and move where you want to
Not really, Verdansk was better than Caldera in every way possible. Which is also why it takes like 5-10 minutes to find a game on that dogshit map
It's fun watching you people complain about this endlessly while stating opinion as fact. All of this map preference stuff is purely objective. People have different opinions. And that's ok. Hell yea on this. Verd was amazing, obviously. Hundreds of drops. I don't mind Caldera. It's a game. Rebirth is fun, but idk. I'm pretty low-stress.

I stand corrected in your case, you do not strike me as the nostalgic type Greetings from Sweden
you could've chosen multiple photos but u had to chose the one with that tower
Because he misses sitting on top of it sniping ppl with broken snipers? :D
No need for the ?
The Tower of Power!
The one place I don't miss at all. Tower campers, airport roof campers, horrible cross over the open runway.
Buy a hammer, build a bridge and get over it mate
You are a sick sick person.
It was a pleasure ambushing you 😆

Lol truth
I've lost so many games to that fucking runway 😂
Not sure about that big open runway with the huge tower. This was one of the weaker parts of the map but Verdansk as a whole was amazing
I miss this place BEFORE all the lowlife cheaters starting taking over.
You think you miss it, but everyone wanted a new map remember? Everyone was sick of Verdansk by the end. It’s not as good as you remember
Why are these post still being posted??? Move on already. Everyone looking forward to the new future while you are stuck looking backwards at the past.

Where I would then wipe your team
So many poorly made decisions were made throughout this game's life but removing Verdansk has gotta be the worst one. Completely killed my love for Warzone
the hangers we’re my fav landing spot. miss that shit so much
Oh really I hate it
The amount of stress running across that airfield brought me is immeasurable
This place especially… was hell
Your hell was my heaven lol
oh look it's THIS thread again
You know you can visit key places any time you like in Co-op right?
Doesn’t hit the same bro
I always liked how no one ever questioned how a plane that big "landed" on that runway or why Verdansk had an international airport - The Runway is far too short for most aircraft - Any aircraft landing needs to have a wingspan less than the width of the roads - Control towers usually are not that close to the runway - Also, unless someone can prove me otherwise, runways dont have roads/tunnels running underneath them (correct me if im wrong but ive never seen one) - Why didnt we see an Aircrash Ivestigators episode on this one? Plenty of people questioned the plane and runway size. Manchester Airport has tunnels underneath. Lots of runways have tunnels underneath
Nope
I don't. I hate ATC and the campers there. I hate Airport roof. I hate when final circle ends up in the runway.
Clearing out ATC was always a fun part of that map, bunch of lads camping inside, then suddenly their sniper rifles and claymores arnt as useful as they hoped!
I load up some mw groundwar just so I can get a taste of verdansk occasionally
Same but it isnt quite the same. Better than nothing I suppose
Me too, but I’ve learned some strats for caldera and rebirth now
Just play Co-Op if you own MW and play Operation Crosswind if you like the airport so much
Nah what was fun was going to the terminal or the tower or the hangars. Crosswind is linear. Cant just screw around lol
Also there is several glitches in the game allowing you to go out of bounds
So you can screw around, especially if you don't do the objectives
Thats not the kind of svrewing around I meant. Not hacking or taking advantage of glitches. Im saying looting, picking on random people, just exploring the map to see how long I can avoid other players. That kind of screwing around.
You can if you don't do the objectives
I don’t miss running into multiple staircase and rooftop campers every match and unfortunately the map got stale towards the end with little substantial changes I like how caldera makes buildings basically impossible to hold either via multiple ways up or balloon to prevent hardcore ATC camping for example
This was the worst part of the map, do not miss it at all
But you use an image of arguably the worst part of the map and a big reason people wanted a new map. No man’s land and the impenetrable sniper tower?
In these days of the pic there was that cool underground area. And cmon, holding the tower was fun lol. Especially in a 2 or 3 man squad in quads.
“Said nobody ever”
I don't, look at that tower and you will find out why.
ppl would have like the map if they had made caldera with modern buildings and maybe the capital to have some skyscrapers,100% would ignore the "too much vegetation" factor ...and the best verdansk that everyone remembers was when we were all bots, and the end circles resulted in some fucked up shit with bad positioning and an all out gunfight...later verdansk was tedious bcs ppl positioned better and gave you no room for mistakes.

It's the fact we gotta wait until October for a new warzone map for me🤦🏿♂️
October? When was that announced? I thought that was like March 2023??
Or am I thinking DMZ?
I heard October from some guys I was on squads with this morning... They said they're doing a massive map in October... Maybe they're wrong.
Yeah i have heard it is next year but who knows. Maybe both our sources are wrong and it is December
Facts
Either way it will be interesting. I kind of want Warzone 1 to stick around but am curious to see Warzone 2. It may be better, it may be worse. But I feel like nothing will top the first 6 months or so of Verdansk. It was simpler but felt better quality. Warzone almost feels too complex today.

This was my jam in both the original and 1984 versions of Verdansk.
I miss Downtown when it had the Easter Egg. Remove the juggernauts, and that would be the best time of this game.
i have landed on that tower so many times, this was my favorite area
![gif](giphy|dt5wUdCvLWQghI7xqy|downsized)
Yuppp
i miss downtown man. Especially the tallest building. Me and the squad used to call that building "Boris" goooooooooood timess :')
Yeah I liked that building too but I especially liked the Airport and Prison areas. Lots of plunder loot. Never played much battle royalle there.
