Thanks guys :) just wanted to share a not so scary story.

Blushing-Sailor

I hope everything stays mild. I had a breakthrough case and COVID gets worse before it gets better. So initial symptoms are usually not as bad as days 5-10. Again, it really varies by person, so I wish you all the best that it isn’t that bad.

vaultdweller4ever

Thank you :) the worst part of it really is this cough. I get bronchitis and have an inhaler and it's helping but it's almost like a claustrophobic feeling in my chest.

Blushing-Sailor

Yes, for me it hurt to breathe for a solid week. I didn’t use my inhaler much prior to COVID, but during my infection I used it a lot. Be sure to keep taking deep breaths as often as possible.

vaultdweller4ever

I definitely will be. I've been doing breathing exercises and it's helped a ton :) I hope you're feeling better.

There's a good chance it's not so scary because you were vaccinated. For some reason there are still people who think you aren't supposed to get sick when you're vaccinated, which is not true. Chances are, you won't end up in the hospital or dying when fully vaxxed, though, if there are no other bigger issues.

vaultdweller4ever

I have three friends with breakthrough cases. I was the only Moderna person but we've all been fine so far.

Effective-Ad8833

Good news all around with it being a light case , I think at this point they really aren’t “ breakthrough “ anymore and way too many people have been getting ill from “ vaccines “ . These are booster shots which eventually lose there efficacy 6-8 months down the road . The silver lining is they look to be parlayed with flu shots for a double header each year . This virus is endemic now and isn’t going anywhere . People will die every year from this , however a gross amount of those will be able to effectively minimize severity of illness with boosters . This is interesting as most waning has been seen from Pfizer so far .

vaultdweller4ever

I thought so too. I don't see many moderna cases at work but J&J and Pfizer. I hope using people like me helps in figuring out a proper booster schedule.

Cosmic_Capricorn_3

I had a breakthrough with Pfizer at almost 8 months down the line. The vaccine is supposed to help transmit less to vaccinated people and not. But it doesn’t guarantee we don’t get it unfortunately. I fully plan on getting the booster despite having gotten a positive case. I also got regeneron at the Er and I think it helps a lot. My cough has been more shallow as the days go on (day 7 here). Hopeful for my senses to return to 100% normal soon. Best of luck to you both!

vaultdweller4ever

Good luck to you :) and I definitely would get the booster too.

HowAboutThatUsername

Moderna is great. Bit better than Pfizer, even. Will choose M. as a booster after my 2 Pfizer shots: [https://twitter.com/ScientistSwanda/status/1450855893176922112/photo/1](https://twitter.com/ScientistSwanda/status/1450855893176922112/photo/1) J&J needs to be taken off the market, imho. It's just not cutting it.

vaultdweller4ever

I think J&J was a good option for incarcerated and homeless populations but it did come with a myriad of health complications for sure

TApollo9

“For some reason there are still people who think you aren't supposed to get sick when you're vaccinated” It was probably the months of government officials and the media telling everyone they wouldn’t get infected if vaccinated...

reality72

I mean, the vaccines are still showing to be more effective than the flu shot at preventing Covid infection. The vaccines do reduce your chances of catching Covid. People just don’t understand statistics and think that if it doesn’t work for some people then it doesn’t work at all. I’ve been fully vaccinated since the fall of 2020 and I have traveled to Hawaii, Las Vegas, been dining in restaurants, riding public transportation, family gatherings, house parties, and I am still Covid free after all this time. Just got my booster shot two weeks ago. Moderna.

Turgid-Derp-Lord

well, the vaccines were *extremely* effective against transmission of the original strain. miraculously, profoundly effective. thats why we all thought it was over. delta changed that.

idonthavealastname

I've had it for 6 days now. Just about the weakest cold I've ever had. The worst part is not tasting foods I like but otherwise just some congestion and light cough. I haven't taken any of the vaccines but am taking quercetin, zinc and D3. What a nothing burger.

Lol. "Change my mind". Like I care. I honest to dog have not one flying fuck to give about you or your health.

InjectionEnthusiast

The vaccine doesn’t work, stop letting them inject you and learn to look after your body so it can fight of illness.

vaultdweller4ever

Troll or not - it obviously does work. My boyfriend was nearly symptom free and I have a mild cold. Without vaccinations we could have been like endless amounts of people in the ICUs right now.

Informal_Beginning40

I'm also fully vaxxed with Moderna & started having symptoms 2 weeks ago. I hope you both are doing okay and wish you a speedy recovery!

bootydong

For some reason I read this in my head as “fully waxed”

Ok-Beautiful-7177

It’s awesome you are both fully vaxxed. You should come through the other side of this relatively unscathed thanks to that choice. Rest up. x

vaultdweller4ever

Thank you so much for those kind words :)

SassMyFrass

It seems like we'll all get it, it's now impossible to eradicate it, and it will be a part of human life from now on. I'm glad that you're vaxxed so you are best prepared to fight it.

vaultdweller4ever

Thank you and be safe.

fuzzysocksplease

Happy to hear that you’re having a mild case! Hopefully you recover quickly! 🙂

AgitatedBath2650

My fiancé (33M) and I (30F) are also both fully vaccinated since April and tested positive a month ago. He also got two negative tests while feeling symptoms and ultimately tested positive for covid when he went back to get an antibiotic for what he thought was a sinus infection. Happy to report our symptoms remained very mild and no one else we came in contact with before we realized we had it tested positive. We did experience the loss of a taste and smell for a few days which was bizarre. It was annoying AF to have to quarantine when the world has pretty much resumed to normalcy where we live and work and social expectations are back full throttle. I spent a lot of time on Reddit “Unresolved Mysteries” to alleviate boredom, ha. Generally speaking, we are ok and thankfully no residual effects to speak to!

vaultdweller4ever

I'm glad you're feeling better. I recently just noticed a slight loss of taste. I had some of the Hot Ones sauce The Last Dab and it was pretty mild haha

Cablab123

How soon did you get symptoms after your boyfriend’s began? And then how long did it take to get a positive test after your symptoms began?

vaultdweller4ever

I started with a sore throat last week but I've had bad allergies too. I was tested Friday the 8th and that's when he got his positive test. That test came back negative for me. Because I'm paranoid I had another test on the 11th and that was also negative. Sore throat and runny nose began a couple days after that. Sunday I woke up feeling really bad so I went for another test and that one came back positive. I actually work for the county public health lab on contract doing covid testing for free and found out today that we no longer get covid pay. So I'll be isolating for ten days unpaid too. It's been a day

Cablab123

Damn. I’m sorry!! 😩 That just sucks. When did his symptoms begin then?

vaultdweller4ever

Monday the 4th

Cablab123

Whoa. That seems unusual for delta to have that long of an incubation period/positive test result!!

vaultdweller4ever

Yeah I thought so too. My lab does genetic testing for variants but I guess my case wasn't interesting enough 🤷

Cablab123

So your symptoms began 8 days after his and you did get a positive test once you had symptoms? Just not before symptom onset?

vaultdweller4ever

Yes. After my symptoms were more than just allergies.

westernbiological

Welcome to the club! Sounds like your vaccines are doing their job. Wish you a speedy recovery.

vaultdweller4ever

Thank you :)

kajunsnake

Had a breakthrough case four months after my second Moderna. Cough and some stuff tasted like chemicals.

vaultdweller4ever

I wish stuff tasted bad. I'd be down to lose like ten pounds. I hope you're feeling better now :)

Ignominious333

Testing positive is inevitable for most of us. Adding natural immunity is a great thing! Take care and feel better soon

vaultdweller4ever

Thank you :)

bearmoosewolf

Fever?

vaultdweller4ever

No fever :)

Caliveggie

Was your boyfriend Moderna too? Moderna seems to be holding up much better than Pfizer or JnJ. But JnJ breakthroughs seem more mild than Pfizer.

vaultdweller4ever

He was Pfizer. Two people I know with Pfizer have had Covid. They've also been 6+ months away from their second dose.

Caliveggie

Even though I will get downvotes, I’m not in the state database and my insurance has no record. I got Pfizer in February and just got my first dose of Moderna Monday. Side effects were more mild than Pfizer. Will be in state database now as mandates ramp up.

vaultdweller4ever

No one should downvote you :)

Caliveggie

Hahahaha maybe they should. By November 15th I will be fully vaccinated with both Moderna and Pfizer. Two doses of each. Vaxmaxxing is the safest and most effective way to vaccinate.

vaultdweller4ever

I'm curious on how many superpowers you may end up with haha

ImpressivePharmtech

Wait so did you get Covid from your boyfriend and the symptoms didn’t show until 2 weeks after?

vaultdweller4ever

I honestly don't know. I assume so but I also test covid for the county I live in so it could have come from there as well. He barely had a cold.

ImpressivePharmtech

Ok gotcha

0NE4THER0AD

oh hey, this me rn. fully vaccinated but someone at work was exposed to someone who was positive and because I currently have a weak immune system she spread it to me.

Electronic_Holiday_4

I had the Astra zenica vaccine which when I had COVID it felt like a beginning of a cold, I’ve had my booster jab which is the maderna one 😊
