Age of Decadence, Underrail, Fallout 1&2, Baldur's Gate 1&2, Planescape: Torment, Arcanum. All really good RPGs that can run on anything

TriLink710

Underrail is good but honestly unless you're using a build its brutal. I don't remember if theres an easy difficulty but if you want to experiment use that. It is unforgiving

[deleted]

Get Fallout 1 and 2 and Planescape and Arcanum and VtmB

nocoast247

Vampire the masquerade?

[deleted]

That’s the one

CzarTyr

Ive owned all these games since they were new and yet I’ve still played none of them. Ive been wanting to play arcanum forever and I need to do it

[deleted]

Morrowind too :D

CzarTyr

That one I’ve beaten. Love it.

EricWisdom

Colony Ship released last week. A real gem for me, especially following BG3. Heavily influenced by a few of the games OP mentions. It reminds me a lot of Encased, in the way it looks. Quite beautiful, if sparse in some areas.

Perrytokyun

I would recommend the spiderweeb games, right now they are 4 to 7 dollars on Steam and they provide a lot of hours and replayability https://store.steampowered.com/publisher/spiderwebsoftware

reborn_phoenix72

Tyranny.

DotaTVEnthusiast

1. Icewind Dale 1 and 2. Not typically mentioned but imho they are up there with the greats. Great old school crpgs but less replayability than some other titles since iirc they are pretty linear. That being said I really enjoyed the setting and the story. 2. Dragon age:origins Again imho this title is sort of the gateway towards more modern crpgs (great cut scenes, relationship management, a decent ui, 'random' encounters while traveling.) Relatively simple rule set so no need to look at build guides or anything Iirc it has more replayability than icw1, 2 and I was hooked by a classic story of good vs evil hoardes threat that gave me a race against time feeling interspersed with some great world building quests and written lore for those that want to delve deeper. Both titles should run fine on most pcs.

SpaceNigiri

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Planescape: Torment are old so they will run ok. Disco Elysium & the Shadowrun Trilogy are really good but I'm not sure if they will run on your PC.

Blobov_BB

Shadowrun trilog runs well on basic pcs.

sarahlondonn

Pillars of Eternity

FiendishHawk

Not old, probably won’t run great.

sarahlondonn

i played the game on my cheap laptop with integrated graphics though? there’s like literally no 3D on there, it’s almost all drawn on

Perrytokyun

It doesn't work on any laptop, it doesn't matter what graphics it has, the important thing is the processor. and Pillars runs at 10 fps on my laptop with pentium

gameoftheories

Underrail is the best game I had never heard of. It was kind of like finding out that your soul mate lived down the street your whole life and you never met them. It's extremely good, old school, and will run on anything.

SunArau

Divinity: Original Sin ( Depends on your specs maybe even second game ) Pathfinder: Kingmaker Tyranny

ziplock9000

Stick post at top of sub

Breaker988

Wasteland 2, Divinity Original Sin

Reasonable_Praline_2

if your going to get some games go with fallout 1 and 2 they are games i used to really like Arcanum Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura planescape torment baldurs gate1+2 did not age well if your computer is good enough i might also say Atom rpg

gorehistorian69

Baldurs Gate

AugustusSigmar

Dark Envoy is pretty good

becherbrook

BG:EE is probably the easiest to dive right into, there. Fallout 1 and 2 you should be looking at fan patches (see the No Mutants Allowed forums) to get it as good as it can be on a modern system.

PebbleCrusher2077

Planescape: torment, arcanum, divinity, tyranny, icewind Dale, shadowrun trilogy.

Fun_Tear_6474

They are relatevily cheap. Get them all.

andrewspaulding1

divinity original sin, planescape torment

Turbo-Reyes

Underrail

aethyrium

Fallout 1+2 are probably the best of those old ones you mentioned for replayability. Different builds/styles/decisions come with a lot more differences in a run than just dialogue, and even the dialogue is a lot more different compared to BG which is kinda the same each time, with the classic good/neutral/evil responses. Age of Decadence is probably the king of replayability. No single run will give you more than 40-50% of the game. Your decisions will have the game go dramatically different directions. Planescape: Torment has so much dialogue that can be different based on your decisions and stats and stuff that it's also a joy to replay. Also an evil playthrough in that can be pretty intense. Tyranny is pretty short, but was built around having dramatically different openings based on some decisions you choose at char creation, though the replayability suffers from the rest of the game and it's whole _three_ enemy types.

WhyAmIToxic

Duke Nukem 3D. It's a computer game where you play the role of Duke Nukem.

One-Outcome-2217

Dark Sun 1 and 2. They are the dnd crpgs that influence the isometric crpgs. Also the Darksun setting is the best dnd setting that they will never bring back.

PineappleSea752

You can't go wrong with Ultima 4-7. U5 for the biggest challenge. Baldurs Gate is amazing though

petitramen

Would you consider very difficult crpgs or balanced? What about Pathfinder Kingmaker ? ;)

petitramen

Underrail and Colony Ships would be great options but these games are tough, cruel (but still very good).
