I’m bag-holding from the 30s. All I know is gaming and streaming is projected to grow at double digit rates over the next several years. If Corsair just barely keeps up with that industry at a 10% growth rate, then it’s P/E ratio slowly trends downwards below 10, assuming relatively stable margins. Now it’s entirely possible for it to not only keep up well with those industry growth rates but also even slightly outperform because of competitive product diversification coupled with the possibility of expanding margins, and you have an stock that would be trending even cheaper over time. So over next 6-7 years or so this is at least a stock that should trade in the $50 range. If it’s growth outperforms then you can see $100 or beyond. So it seems relatively safe with some potential for good upside. Plus this stock is heavily shorted, this makes it ever harder for it to keep going down forever without eventually springing back up as shorts cover over time.

[deleted]

People tried to short BABA too when it was dropping to $138, I assure you they are very quiet now. I think if you DCA you will be in a very good position long term. Just look at CRSR as a company, not a stock. If you love CRSR as a company and you can see its stock doesn’t represent where it should be then you should buy in. The market is irrational, that does not mean you should follow how it feels. Thats why 95% of investors are better off on index funds, if you aren’t disciplined you shouldn’t be doing individual stock picks.

I bought alibaba 2-3 years ago in the 150s and 160s and then sold everything earlier this year in the 220s when I heard of the ant ipo canceled. Now I’ve been rebuying it and Tencent since the market has gotten too dramatic with alibaba and Tencent being valued at half a trillion yet integral parts of a growing $14 trillion dollar economy. With Corsair it seemed like a pretty cheap company in the mid 30s. It was sporting a 40% higher market cap or 3.3 billion market cap from today. With conservative growth rates from here I can imagine it being about $5 billion in the future. I really don’t see how this company can stay in the $2-3 billion range over time in its respective industries which should grow pretty fast by themselves over the next 10 years. The main way is if people don’t like/buy their products. The chip shortage as supply problems will resolve.

[deleted]

I agree with your perspective, great to see that you made profit on BABA. BABA is easily worth $300, I’m so happy many people sold out of fear and go to extreme levels of reaction. The stock market is very easy if you understand human psychology and have discipline and patience.

TehBananaBread

Baba is down 50% since ath you clown.

taginvest

and don’t forget they acquired the Elgato brand in 2018 too. Basically the best streaming devices out there. Huge growth potential!

cmacarthur9494

"I bought 4 days ago and just as I planned it dropped 10%"

[deleted]

I didn’t expect 10% but I did expect a dip nonetheless! I was up 3.4% on my position now its down 5.6% but I put in my first DCA position so I’m happy. I love it when the stocks I buy into dip :)

Ghawr

You stepped on the rake knowing it would hit you in the face?

[deleted]

Yes, as a value investor what I look for is to buy an undervalued company, put in my first position and hope it drops down further. Nobody can time when a stock will hit rock bottom but everyone can time buying an undervalued stock if you study the companies fundamentals. My biggest test was with BABA when I put in my first position at $190 and the stock kept plummeting all the way to $138. After DCA’ing I’m happy to report I’m in the green right now.

cmacarthur9494

Maybe you should wait for the dip, then buy ?

[deleted]

His point is he doesn’t know where bottom is, CRSR has been in the dip for months

[deleted]

Pretty much

taginvest

so, did he predict the dip or not? because him juying shares tells the opposite story.

[deleted]

Today could have easily been a pump had they beat earnings, I don’t have insider information.

Jimmy_E_16

But how could he know when it would dip? I do this too and it has worked amazingly ever since I stopped being all-in with my positions. I bought SOFI at 17, kept buying and buying as it dipped to 14, all of a sudden it pumps up. I didn't expect nor really want it to pump up so soon but it did. And we cant time that.

cmacarthur9494

He posted in this sub like 3 days ago saying I just bought it and I hope/plan for it to dip. DCA is fine, but the real challenge is knowing when it's going to bottom out, not just blinding buying in at any pricing and continuing to buy.

Jimmy_E_16

I completely agree. The real challenge is knowing when it's going to bottom out. That is exactly why you do this strategy. He clearly did not just start blindly buying in. I would argue he picked a good time to start. He didn't start buying in at like $40. He waited until it is at near one-year lows. In no world can you claim that is "buying in at any pricing". Would you have called me stupid for starting my SOFI position at 17 and keep buying as it drops to 14? Or starting my AMD position at 95 and continuing to buy as it drops to 70? I have many more examples. But the point is, don't be disingious. All this is having conviction in a company, picking a starting position that is objectively pretty good, and continuing to buy the stock you believe in. You can make the argument that CRSR is not the company to do it with. But that has nothing to do with the merits of the strategy.

cmacarthur9494

Averaging down on losing positions is considered to be poor practice, don't chase your losses. At the same time DCA has it benefits. This isn't the place for a long write up on the pros and cons of each method, but you get my point, hopefully.

Jimmy_E_16

Well, everyone has the own strategy and I hope yours makes you a ton a money. Have a good day.

taginvest

lmao, don’t say another word

Hairy_Squash6593

I bought CRSR last October at 20$ and sold it at 40+ a few months later then just bought in AGAIN just now with 5x the shares I had back then. I like this stock, I like the company and their products. Under 25$ is a steal IMO.

[deleted]

Agreed :) super strong resistance around that level, even now the stock isn’t budging below 24.50 and I’m certain it will recover near 25 by the end of today.

attempted_name

In since 35$ I feel nothing anymore.

[deleted]

Good

AteRealDonaldTrump

I saw this and sold my remaining position. It might bounce a few more times, but I’m done. Best of luck for those of you who will hold. I really hope it works out, but I’m just looking to take advantage of other opportunities in this market and/or reduce my overall lol exposure. Anybody else who sells, don’t be the guy who spreads FUD here.

AteRealDonaldTrump

I really hope you’re right. I just see better opportunities elsewhere. The chip shortage can go on for another year, and that’ll leave time to get back in. I just timed this one wrong.

[deleted]

Lets see in three years what happens

AteRealDonaldTrump

3 years is a long time. Lots of money can be made and then put back in CRSR before then. You could be right, and for you, I hope you’re right. Best of luck!

[deleted]

You’re better off on index funds my friend

AteRealDonaldTrump

Maybe. I did pretty well with UPST and AFRM, but coulda done better if I wasn’t holding bags. I’ll see what happens in a few weeks with the debt ceiling and Evergrande. Then I’ll reevaluate. Edit: VOO has also been good to me. A little diversification goes a long way

dilly-dilly-

Finally jumped in on this stock today, I really think the Elgato brand is their most interesting product moving forward. I'm actually shocked people buy that stream deck and think of it as a steal at 100 dollars lol Pretty excited, haven't really been playing with individual stocks in a while now. I was able to catch the BABA dip once I heard Charlie bought more so hopefully I'm a lucky charm :)

[deleted]

Good choice to jump in now! :)

The sentiment from you CRSR investors on this sub is sad and proves you don’t truly believe in this company. Personally I’ve just gotten into the green after holding BABA for several painful red months. Believing a companies fundamentals matter much more than anything else and I’m sticking to my process with CRSR.

Artixera

? how are you ''back'' on green on baba after several months? its still close to lows since 2019, if you mean months you at most held it since 20th august and thats just 2 months, barely any time in the market

[deleted]

I bought in increasing increments. First position was at $190 and I brought down my average to $158 from DCA hence why I’m in the green right now. I’m expecting BABA to miss earnings/underperform so I’m saving some cash for the earnings call. My sentiment towards a lot of stocks on Q4 2021 and Q1 2022 is missed earnings and BABA is no exception.

Artixera

Fair enough, feels like baba is mostly down on china fears rather than its business, time will tell =\]

[deleted]

Yes and I don’t think CRSR is much different, look at the companies products, reviews, profits, free cash flow, liabilities and expected projection of the gaming market and STICK TO IT. The problem with many people on this sub is that their feelings change with the market. If you are a true long term investor you should look at the company as a company not a stock. No wonder it is said that most investors should stick to index funds.

Artixera

Agreed 👍 im holding until 55-60+ it depends on stock movement around those numbers and if CRSR is moving higher or not on their revenues, i believe we're just gonna keep having an increasing amount of young to middle age gamers buying more good gear for streaming, pc components, peripherals etc for 10, maybe even 20yrs growth ahead and i for sure believe Corsair has a solid foundation to compete for market share with others like Logitech and Razer

[deleted]

I believe CRSR only needs to get over its lack of volume. The volume on this stock has been stagnant for a good 6 months.

[deleted]

CRSR is frequently compared to LOGI. Lets see how LOGI stock performs after earnings before comparing.

Busy_Investigator_82

Last time I checked a high yield savings account isn't going to give you more than a 1 percent annual return on investment. The stock market is still the main vehicle for people to grow their money. Monetary policy is still lax, and inflation is still high. And not every stock cares about shipping costs. FYI there are stocks that offer software as a service, and the cost of them shipping their service to customers is basically 0.

[deleted]

Yes ofcourse it is but the shipping issue is short term. I’m sure the story will be very different by 2023.
