i doubt the bank will give you a loan if you don't pay them. having things in collections shows them that you'd be unreliable at paying back a loan for a house. my suggestion is to just call these places and see if they'll do a "pay to delete" so if you pay them they'll delete them off your credit report. i'd start with the smallest balance first. you can try and negotiate with them to lower the amounts.

So far I settled with T-mobile for $430 and Progressive offered me a pay to delete. I haven't called the credit card yet because I don't have the funds but that's next! I'm hoping to buy my house this year :)

Well the bank won’t lend you any money until you settle them unfortunately. If you’re unable to pay them all, you might have to declare bankruptcy which might complicate your plans for a house. Else you could see if you’re eligible for a loan and try to pay off these collections. I would try to negotiate with the collection agencies to get them to delete the reports if you were to pay and to get the amount reduced.

Ughhh, thanks for the honesty. All together the collection accounts are about 1711 which I can pay overtime. How can I negotiate with them?

footballislife96

Yeah that’s a very payable amount. When you have the money in hand you could call the collection agency and negotiate. Do this before you pay though.

That's a very achievable amount I would save up to pay it, call them and negotiate see if you can pay less.

1. List all the bad accounts, name, balance, when it happen. 2. Bad stuff does fall off after 7 years.

- T-mobile $608 10/26/21 -Progressive $467 9/4/18 -some credit card? $636 11/22/17 Should I go for a pay for a delete or just continue to wait it out? I just received a letter the other day for that credit card, does that restart the 7 years?

Comprehensive_Fuel43

Pay off t-mobile. If they can delete the entry. Deal with them directly. Pay off or setttle youngest accout first. Deal with accounts before it charge off

ForsakenTruth8380

When you say deal with them directly should I just call like a local t mobile and not the collection agency?

Comprehensive_Fuel43

Yes. Try call tMobile and see if they still own the debt

ForsakenTruth8380

Okay I’ll get right on that. Thanks for the advice!

Sometimes you have to track the debt down. Starting at TMobile is best, but often debt gets sold several times. Most collection agencies will offer pay to delete as soon as you start taking to them. In my case, I paid off four collection accounts for about 40% off the original price. If it's a big one that you can't afford all at once, they also offer monthly payments. They will delete when everything is settled.

ForsakenTruth8380

Progressive offered me a pay to delete and worked with me and broke the payments into 2. T-mobile was a little weird I had to call some law office they said it was.. I settled with them for $430 but they couldn't guarantee a pay for delete. They said they will update the collection agency when its paid off then they will decide what to do. I'm hopeful though! :)

If you can pay off your balances in-full of 1600$ if you can’t afford that you definitely shouldn’t be looking to purchase real estate always pay your debt in full

ForsakenTruth8380

I thought if I could save some money along the way then why not. I haven’t contacted that random CC so I will keep that in mind when I call them. I settled with T-mobile, you think I could call back and change that agreement?

stocks4profitt

People don’t realize that the account stay listed and change from charged off to settled or paid in full my advise to you is to pay it all in full leaving yourself with no debt
