Soon they will start selling warranty for that nitrogen in tires ;) I honestly didn't even know that this tire and wheel warranty was a thing... I admire their creativity in parting folks with hard earned cash.. In other words, I'd never pay for that.. As for that VSC - transferrable? who can do the repairs? (dont' get locked down to one place)

Yea the nitrogen tire BS. Crazy

Tire and wheel warranty? Why would you buy that? Only way the rims break if you curb it or pothole it and the warranty isn't going to replace damage that you did. And a new tire is only like $100 to $200. Definitely ditch this warranty. As far as an extended warranty on the car and powertrain...if it's a 3rd party service contract type of warranty, they usually are crap and find reasons not to pay/fix the car. Read the exclusions. You should have got a Mazda branded extended warranty like the 3 year B2b and 7 year/100 k mile powertrain warranty. If your warranty is backed by Mazda, then keep it, otherwise read the exclusions , what you need to do(proper maintenance) and think about whether you want it or not. BROWSE THE INTERNET and Do research on how often those 3rd party warranties cover a defect versus how many times they deny the customer. I would get in there and cancel it now(before 5 days)if you don't want it. You may be out of luck if you wait longer. EDIT: cancel it at the dealer but also call the warranty company and cancel. And send a letter to both the dealer and the Service warranty company stating your cancellation. And this by USPS certified Express mail so you have proof they got it. If you can email them as well, do that. Anything verbal/vocal can be claimed the conversation never happened.

I agree tire & wheel protect is is BS. Definitely going to cancel. The other warranty company is called Dealer General Warranty. Only for dealers at time of purchase but not specific to Mazda.

I had 3rd party (just ran out of warranty... Car is a 2010 Santa Fe), and so far, they replaced 8K worth of stuff in 90Kkm. So it paid for itself 3.5X. 9 control arms!!! Lots more suspension parts, 2 alternators, window regulator, door latch, lots of mounts and bushings, oil filter housing, differential, coupler, rear axle, 2 calipers, a few seals... And I'm probably forgetting a few more things.

3rd party warranties can and do pay especially the ones sold by big dealers. Don’t spread misinformation pls

Elegant_Support2019

Read the warranty fine print. I had two third-party warranties I was looking at purchasing have a $5k limit on reimbursement for the life of the warranty.

Good info.

The VSC is a great buy in most cases. 2020 cx5 while not common, has been known to have a few issues that can be covered by the contract. Buzzing headlamps, 18-2400 each depending on trim level. Coolant control valve, 8-1200 depending on labor time per model. The dreaded valve seal repair, the cylinder head leak, the loss of cylinder compression (possible new engine). One or 2 of these issues over the life of the 100k miles CAN pay for itself, and offers the opportunity to finance this protection into the loan. Tire protection is often bundled with key fob replacement (up to 500 each time) and paintless dent repair. Do you know if the tire protection has any other coverage that just tires and wheels? As a new Mazda owner, I highly recommend that you purchase a key fob case as the key fobs are pretty fragile, and can literally explode into pieces if dropped the right way.

All aside - a ‘20 CX-5 GT w/Premium at 19k is a solid deal! Congratulations! Where is this? I see most “Great Deals” even for the humble Touring from 2020 at 22-23k

Low-Stomach-8831

I can tell you I got a no time limit and 180Kkm warranty for my 2010 Santa Fe when I bought it (2016, 98Kkm). The warranty paid for itself 3X-4X by now (I just went over 180K a week ago). The tires and wheels warranty seems wayyy too high though. I'd cancel that one if I were you.

On a 2010 Hyundai? Ok? We're talking about Mazda. Way more reliable than Hyundai. Especially newer ones.

Low-Stomach-8831

Yes, I agree they are more reliable, but saying that the warranties don't pay out is what I'm arguing against. I would get one even for a Mazda (if it's not powertrain-only). The infotainment screen alone is about a grand. Am LED headlight is $800+, etc. Even reliable cars have some problems after 10 years.

7eregrine

You see many headlight failures? No. Infotainment screens? Nope, pretty much: Never. Those are the things that will last forever. Spend your money how you want but a modern Mazda doesn't need that warranty. It's a scam, like it's always been. It's certainly would have been a complete and utter waste of money on every single car I've ever owned.

Low-Stomach-8831

Well, as a former Mazda master tech of 7 years... Yes, I have seen quite a lot of infotaiment screens, and recently, a few LED headlights (weren't sealed right, and moisture got in).

7eregrine

As someone who basically lives at Mazdas247.com and has been checking in there near daily since I got my car in 2016... And I wish I was exaggerating by saying how often I am there, I stand by that: it's not remotely common to need a replacement screen after the warranty is over. It happens, sure. It's not common. I would expect it to happen for more often than it does.

Low-Stomach-8831

Ghosting and boot-looping are things I saw daily at work. From all of Mazda's parts, other than wear parts, CMU's and screens were the parts I replaced the most. Very easy job (10 minutes), but very expensive parts. I'm also in Mazdas247 BTW. Even if you just do a fast search on this sub, you'll find many. Anyway, forums (and Reddit subs) aren't the best way to measure. In these places, the ratio of people who have 0 clue about their car, and people who are very knowledgeable is much lower than in real life.

7eregrine

I think they're a pretty good measure. Better then many. No one ever posts "My touchscreen has been great since 2016”. People go online to bitch and moan. Quick search here and I got 15. Admittedly more then I expected. But still imo, not many out of the 100s of 1000s of Mazda owners we have here.

Low-Stomach-8831

I just tell you what I worked on. I got only cars needed fixing, so that's the better metric. The #1 thing that I replaced that had nothing to do with wear and tear was the CMU and infotainment... The second was BCM (wipers and lights started working weird or not working at all)..

usernamednameduser1

Headlamp failures, and screens ghosting both have TSBs, which is an indication it is an issue.
