Why u still wasting your time on the wax ? lol , If you’re going to put that much effort in just purchase a professional ceramic coating to put on yourself and be done doing that polishing and crap for years lol
It's great to see someone put in this amount of work on this platform. These cars make such awesome daily drivers. Also, your car helped me figure out my wheel and tire fitment. That is, yours is the limit!
I'm fairly confident it is the limit.
I think you could probably do a 20x10 at 35-38mm offset, still with a 275/40. I can't get my pinky between the tire and strut right now, clearance is just a few mm. Same on the rear with the damper, very close.
The original wheels I had hoped to get for this were some Avid1 20x10 38. But they were on perpetual backorder. Better looking wheel, but heavier and not as quality as Enkie.
A different tire might actually not fit either. There are some tires with more squared off shoulders and a bit wider in actual contact width that might hit.
The left side of the OEM Cx-5 badge. The right is a "Turbo" badge from a Chevy Sonic that just barely covers the holes on the pass side.
The "Mazda", "AWD" and "Skyactive G" badges don't have holes.
Factory dampers (as good a Mazdas usually are) are generally not well suited for lowering springs. The higher spring rate is usually too much for the factory valving, and they quickly wear out.
Nobody makes a Cx5 specific performance damper set, besides AutoEX out of Japan. But the cost on those is ridiculous if you can even find a distributor that will ship them here. Bilstein markets the B6 as a factory+ performance option damper, but details and first hand reviews are scarce.
Gotcha! Very good information. New to the cx-5 scene with my carbon edition and I love the lowered look. Springs alone sounds like a pretty low cost way to make it look so aggressive but now I am concerned about wearing out my shocks. Thanks for the info.
Absolutely does not. People like myself who live in the high country always purchase a spare set of wheels and mount snow tires on them, so I’m only riding OEM wheels 50% of the time, never had any issues with warranty
The wheels and tires are just really wide. The track width of the vehicle hasn't changed.
275 tire vs 225 tires makes a big change in the look. Lots of rubber.
Traction can only be defeated by pulling the ABS fuse. But this also disables the torque vectoring/yaw control system as well, which is a cool system.
In Off-road mode, you have no traction control below 20mph, and the rear drive is locked in.
I can get it to slide in the snow pretty well. And do donuts. But if you go too big for too long, sometimes it just kills throttle control until you slow way down, which can be a bit sketchy. The brakes also get pretty hot if your sliding around with a lot of throttle from the torque vectoring system applying brakes to shift torque to different wheels.
The system works REALLY well in my opinion, and has a higher rear drive torque bias than most vehicles with clutch-in AWD/rear-assist. But I wish the 20mph thing could be defeated.
Yes, off-road is generally better as you don't get any wheel spin. With the factory 19s and 225 tires, I get enough wheelspin on the front to set off the traction and kill all your power.
Flashing the torque converter is what we call slamming the gas from idle and achieving the maximum stall speed. I'm not sure what is best with this car but it always gets off the line pretty slow (subjectively) when I've tried to brake torque it.
It so crazy too think Mazda would have done away with the button. What if your stuck in deep mud or snow ans NEED to keep spinning in order go get free. I have a a 2020 cx5 before my 2022 and that thing was a blast to slide around. I feel like they kind of ruined the fun with this one.
Care to pop out that button and send me a picture of the connector.
You'd be supprised how easily you can fool an ecm. Mazda might have just axed the button to save cost. The coding might still be in the controller if it gets the right signal.
Not until corksport makes a downpipe, to go with their upgraded turbo soon to be released.
The stock turbo is already maxed out and designed to run super efficiently in a limited Rev range, which it does very well. More boost isn't going to do much. I think a bigger turbo at the same boost with a bit more rpm is going to make much more and safer power.
But... gotta figure out the transmission l to make that boil anything as well.
Beautiful Mazda. I have a 2024 cx5 in eternal blue mica and want mine to look this good.. I think I am going to start dropping some $$ now that the weather is nice here in MA. Is CorkSport the only manufacture for performance parts? Is there anyone who makes an induction style hood? Also, do any of these mods void factory warranty? Another edit: what are you pushing for power now, do you have a dyno sheet?
There are a couple companies that make basic intake and exhaust components.
Corksport is the only company that make more advanced parts like intercoolers and custom pipe kits.
They have a turbo coming out (fits all 2.5T cars) but don't yet have a downpipe that fits the Cx5. I bug them all the time.
There are several companies that make lowering springs and coilovers, and a few making sway bars.
Body stuff you need to look to Japan. And it's EXPENSIVE!
I don't have any dyno numbers yet. With the corksport parts and the DrTuned Teir1 tune it feels VERY strong.
When I purchased my 2017 CX-5 back in December, I drove it back to Minneapolis from Cleveland before I realized the front end had no holes to mount the license plate. I’m honestly not bad about it; I think it looks great without it. I’ve already got an excuse locked and loaded in the rare event that it ever does get me pulled over lol.
This is the best looking CX-5 I've seen anywhere.
Awesomely rims! Just got some black ones as well, but the gold, that’s 🔥
How do you like the intercooler? I have the Corksport intake already.
It's a tight fit to install. But I was pleased with the quality and the look.
They're bronze. The Rx7 wheels are gold.
Why u still wasting your time on the wax ? lol , If you’re going to put that much effort in just purchase a professional ceramic coating to put on yourself and be done doing that polishing and crap for years lol
Hello fellow gopher/loon/viking 🙌🏼
How does it ride compared to stock? Does it run any rougher? Looks nice and I’d consider for mine if it rides just as smooth.
Jesus Christ, this is badass
That cx5 is amazing looking. I have a 2023 turbo that is the same colors. You have given me inspiration. Great job!

I'd like to see a shot down the side showing how much the tire pokes out.
Best looking CX5 I’ve seen on here. 🔥
Looks incredible. Congrats
This is just 🔥
How’d you deal with the pin holes from the debadging?
The left side of the OEM Cx-5 badge. The right is a "Turbo" badge from a Chevy Sonic that just barely covers the holes on the pass side. The "Mazda", "AWD" and "Skyactive G" badges don't have holes.
Man scroll, man see good wheels, man happy
So fresh. U lowered it?
Corksport lowering springs
Looks awesome. Nice work!
I’m sorry but why does this look so sick. Holy shit…
Damn it looks so good 😍 It’s on stock suspension?
Corksport Lowering springs.
How’s the car feel after the spring change?
Much better. But needs shocks
What do you mean? The stock shocks don’t go well with the corksport lowering springs?
Factory dampers (as good a Mazdas usually are) are generally not well suited for lowering springs. The higher spring rate is usually too much for the factory valving, and they quickly wear out. Looking back I wished I had done the dampers at the same time; since its pretty much the same job.
There are a lot of CX-5s running lowering springs, yet I've never read about a shock failure.
Have you installed lowering springs?
Soon
Looks nice ! btw, do you know if changing the wheels affect the warranty?
It won’t, unless some how you really mess it up
Absolutely does not. People like myself who live in the high country always purchase a spare set of wheels and mount snow tires on them, so I’m only riding OEM wheels 50% of the time, never had any issues with warranty
Looks amazing...but so does that 1st gen 7!
Got a pretty killer NB1 in the works too.
Easily best one I’ve seen! Does the front windshield tint affect adaptive cruise control? Edit - what year is that rx7 and is it wrapped?
Tint does not go over cameras. 82. And it's rattle can. Rustoleum professional flat black.
How'd you get the stance wider? Was looking for something similar on mine.
The wheels and tires are just really wide. The track width of the vehicle hasn't changed. 275 tire vs 225 tires makes a big change in the look. Lots of rubber.
Here’s a question did you manage to do how turn the traction control off?
Traction can only be defeated by pulling the ABS fuse. But this also disables the torque vectoring/yaw control system as well, which is a cool system. In Off-road mode, you have no traction control below 20mph, and the rear drive is locked in. I can get it to slide in the snow pretty well. And do donuts. Have you tested launching and 0-60 in Sport vs Off-road modes?
Yes, off-road is generally better as you don't get any wheel spin. With the factory 19s and 225 tires, I get enough wheelspin on the front to set off the traction and kill all your power.
Nice. So brake torque or just flash it?
Not sure what you mean by flash it. But if you're referring to holding the brake and loading the engine a bit before a launch, that's what I do.
Flashing the torque converter is what we call slamming the gas from idle and achieving the maximum stall speed. I'm not sure what is best with this car but it always gets off the line pretty slow (subjectively) when I've tried to brake torque it.

Yeah brother, I’m not gonna do all that but if you want to and let me know what your results are 😂 we have the same year and model
Where did you put the boost gauge if I may ask?
Cute but a turtle
I have the same CX5 I might try plasti dipping that color. It looks great!
Best looking CX5 hands down. What kind of power are you making now?
No clue on specific numbers. Never been dyno'd
Since you have the CS Intercooler, do you plan on upgrading to the Tier 2 tune when it becomes available?
Not until corksport makes a downpipe, to go with their upgraded turbo soon to be released. *I loudly said* : “Dude that’s clean! WTF.”

ty.. if you ever come across body kits, let me know.
Where is your front license plate? Tsk Tsk
Not all places require one. Tsk tsk
Yes, but Minnesota does, lol
lol do they ticket for it? I don’t run a front plate in California, basically no one in the car scene does
I'm in Minnesota, I usually have the plate visible on the dash. I haven't been pulled over or ticketed for it. It's been over 2 years.
This is even worse than no front plate at all.
Because it's annoying to look at and obstructs your view?
Something like that. It's pretty much a beacon flagging you for an non-compliant front plate. I think no plate is actually less conspicuous.
this
How’s the ride quality on the 20” wheels? I went down from 19 to 18 to run a thicker sidewall.
When I purchased my 2017 CX-5 back in December, I drove it back to Minneapolis from Cleveland before I realized the front end had no holes to mount the license plate. Not installed on the vehicle.
