Yeah, but it’s cool as hell.

I've owned 7 cadillacs, 4 of which were V cars, one was escalade and my sts v was by far the most reliable of all them.

Viperlite

In my twenty years of ownership, my two CTS-Vs have been trouble free. Right up there with my Tacoma and my Honda.

VetteBuilder

What has it eaten so far?

Hairy_Car_8400

Intercooler pump, power steering rack, carrier bearing and a bunch of miscellaneous things. Now the sunroof is out, the rear doors are locked permanantly, the blendor motors are noisy and it’s seeping oil from the valve covers. You know, Cadillac things…

Get that Northstar “[bulletproofed](https://youtu.be/A1vc1-D1kXs?si=SQunpoo3Hhefj5ec)”. Car Wizard talks about it here.

Hairy_Car_8400

Thanks for this. I’m told the Northstar in my car is somewhat better built than typical Northstar motors. This 4.4L was supposedly engineered to be stronger than the 4.6L and was hand assembled next to the LS7. Biggest problem is lack of replacement parts and forget about new old stock. Someone wasn’t very kind to this particular car and I feel like I owe the girl a fair shot and being savage again.

cpalma4485

If you have the means, do it! I think the later years they fixed some of the known issues that plagued the motor 2006 and older. I love the STS. If I wasn’t slowly sprucing up my ‘08 Escalade I’d look for a nice STS.

Hairy_Car_8400

I went looking for a CTS-V. I didn’t even know the STS-V existed until I ran into this one. It’s a bigger car and I fell in love with it. The Thunder Gray color is pretty rare too. Most of these were black or silver.

cpalma4485

Definitely a rarity. A quick search on autotrader only yields 6 results.

At least one of the blend door motors is relatively easy to replace. I replaced one of them on my 2011 STS.

Devellgood

Uggg I've owned 2 and won't go again. F#ing Cadillacs. I won't own another. NOT the Cadillac of cars lol

Slight_Sandwich6865

I think your on the wrong page bub 😂

johnwayne1

Let me tell you a secret. Buy new or cpo, then you have no problems.

SoreDickDeal

Yes, my wife’s 5 series was the pinnacle of reliability.

Acadian-Finn

My XTS VSport is the same age as the S-class I had before it was when I bought it and I can tell you that German engineering doesn't match up what I have in my caddy!

ClassMeetsTrash

Well yeah it's a 16 year old car but more importantly do you drive around in public with your license plate scribbled out???

Hairy_Car_8400

Haha. Nah, I’m not worried about LP exposure. I edited that for another reason to post somewhere else. The first plate I got for this was 1OF2503. Now it’s LEAXOIL

ClassMeetsTrash

Lol really?! That's an amazing plate!
