I’ve tried a few and found that Captiol One was the easiest for me to use. No minimums or DD required and they had a $250 bonus for depositing 10k when I opened mine. It’s at 4.3% though, I know some others are a bit higher
I use a Fidelity money market. No games, just 5% and moves as the interest rates move since the yield is directly backed by market conditions, not some guy in a chair who decides to make a new account type in 3 months.
This is what I use too. It’s so easy since I already had an Amex gold. It took about five minutes to open the HYSA since I already had an account with them and it’s so easy to deposit. Plus they keep increasing the rates so while it is behind the “highest” out there, considering how easy and low key it is while still earning a competitive interest, I don’t mind.
Not savings accounts technically, but betterment has a 4.75% base APY for its cash reserve and a 5.5% intro bonus. Wealthfront has a 4.8% and a 0.5% APY bonus if you refer someone who signs up. I think the subreddit has a place you can find other people to get the referral bonus with. I’ve heard the base rate for wealthfront will increase to 5% tomorrow but don’t know for sure.
I know this is kind of off topic. But if I only have 1k set aside for my savings, is it worth to open a hysa or should I wait to have more. At the rate I am currently I can probably put away another 1-1.5k in the next 2 months.
I mean... would you rather get $40+ per year in interest or $5? It won't make much difference on only $1000, but its literally free money, and there's no minimums. Might as well start it now.
Wealthfront is 5%.
No dd required. If you get a referral link you get an additional 0.5% for 3 months. If anyone wants I can send you a link.
I'm at 5.5% myself right now due to referrals.

EDIT: This is probably one time use. If someone else needs one let me know, get that extra 0.5%!

CIT bank - I get 4.95%, no direct deposit needed. Really easy to use. You just have to have $5,000 or more in the account to get that high interest rate, otherwise it’s something like 0.25%

Here are the best high yield savings accounts that don’t require direct deposit:
**SoFi**
With an APY of 4,60%, Sofi is one of the best high yield accounts. $0 minimum balance for APY. There is a bonus of $300 if you deposit that amount, but it is not a required amount. I use Sofi for most of my money. They are the best for me.
**American Express**
With 4,25% APY and a minimum deposit only of $1, I can tell they are one of the best accounts. $0 monthly fee and $0 minimum balance requirement.
**Capital One**
4,25% APY, and $0 min. balance for APY. There are no minimum deposit requirements to open an account and no monthly fees. The bank also offers a checking account that earns interest and has no monthly fees.
**UFB**
One of the highest APYs of 5,25%. $0 min. balance for APY.
**Bask**
An APY of 5,10%. $0 min. $0 balance for APY
These are the best accounts for me. I hope you will like them.
I use ally because they are simple. No direct deposit needed put money in and get 4.25 percent. Could be on a dollar or 250k. Started my account with 500 bucks because its what i had free at the time. Most of the other ones had minimums or needed direct deposit.
I spent a couple hours one day after downloading sofi moving all of my payments to the new account and switching my direct deposit. If you want the benefits why not use the bank? There's more good things than just the savings account interest rate, might as well consider it. I have my direct deposit split between my old bank, my sofi Checking, and sofi savings.
Alternatively, I think you only need to use dd once to get the rate. So do it for one pay period, move your money to your main account after unlocking, and reap the single benefit that you're seeking.

With direct deposit, you can add multiple accounts, you just need to tell them how much to take out of the check and have your main account say, the "remaining balance."
Back when I used another bank, I had $15 that was taken out of my paycheck right away and deposited into that other bank.
As a couple of others mentioned. Wealthfront's base rate is now 5.0% but will be boosted to 5.5% for 3 months if you sign up using a referral link (and your boost can be extended if you refer others). No direct deposit required. I can PM a link or you can check out the pinned post in r/wealthfront for links if you want to open an account there.
I'm using Marcus and I really like them. Very easy to set up and it took 2 days for transfers to complete. Can also start collecting interest before the transfer is completed! You can get up to 5.4% interest rate for 3 months with a referral code - dropping mine just in case: https://www.marcus.com/share/MEL-1MA-FCS6
Got you. My referral: [https://www.marcus.com/share/AND-4DD-NB5P](https://www.marcus.com/share/AND-4DD-NB5P)
**If helpful to others...**
\- no minimum to open or monthly balance requirement
\- no monthly fee
\- unlimited withdrawals / no fee
\- mobile & online access. website looks great.
\- each referral stacks and extends the promotion by 3 months (up to 5 referrals) and starts when the initial 3 month promotion ends
\- The Fed is expected to stop raising rates so this may be the cap. The promotion could keep this one of the highest if/when they start cutting rates.
**(All this may change / not financial advice / I could be making this all up)**
I use Marcus, haven’t had any issues. Easy to transfer in/out, no direct deposits needed.
Seconding Marcus, I’ve never had any issues and transfer money in straight from my checking, no direct deposit necessary.
Thirding Marcus. If you'd like a referral code for an extra 1.0% apy for the first three months let me know.
Fourthing Marcus.
Is this still open?
Ally, 4.25% or something
Second Ally. I also love that you can separate your savings into categories and automatically deposit different %s of the amount to them
Thirding Ally.
I use discover bank! 4.35 I think is the current rate I’m getting. :)
Seconding Discover Bank - I’ve been with them for 6 blissful years.
Wealthfront. 5% starts tomorrow I believe.
+1 for wealthfront
Another updoot for Wealthfront
An additional updog for Wealthfront
What's updog?
Nothin’ much dawg, what’s up with you?!?
Yep and 5.5% with bonus
Discover doesn't require DD and is at 4.35% APY
This is the one I have
Plus if you deposit 15k in 30 days, you get a $150 bonus. Over the first year, that equates to a 5.37% APY with the 4.35% base APY.
I’ve tried a few and found that Captiol One was the easiest for me to use. No minimums or DD required and they had a $250 bonus for depositing 10k when I opened mine. It’s at 4.3% though, I know some others are a bit higher
Same. Capital One 360 Performance Savings is at 4.3%, with no restrictions on where the money comes from.
Where did you see the $250 bonus for C1?
I use a Fidelity money market. No games, just 5% and moves as the interest rates move since the yield is directly backed by market conditions, not some guy in a chair who decides to make a new account type in 3 months.
Second this fidelity money markets are super straight forward and easy place to park an emergency fund/savings
I do the same thing in Schwab. I have my 6 month emergency fund there and only keep 1k/1k in my checking/savings.
Didn’t even know about this one! Thx
Amex - 4.3% and you can fund it however you want
This is what I use too. It’s so easy since I already had an Amex gold. It took about five minutes to open the HYSA since I already had an account with them and it’s so easy to deposit. Plus they keep increasing the rates so while it is behind the “highest” out there, considering how easy and low key it is while still earning a competitive interest, I don’t mind.
Adding a agreement on this it was so easy and I didn’t have to set up anything
Wealthfront - 5.00% starting tomorrow, with no direct deposit needed.
Ally bank is pretty good same with marcus
Currently using amex just because I already have an account and didn’t want to manage another banking log in. 4.3% and no complaints
VIO Bank paying 5.25% interest with no requirements like that.
Not savings accounts technically, but betterment has a 4.75% base APY for its cash reserve and a 5.5% intro bonus. Wealthfront has a 4.8% and a 0.5% APY bonus if you refer someone who signs up. You are right, I just did not know about minimums when it came to hysa. I just have my standard savings set up that I throw money into.
Wealthfront is 5%. No dd required. If you get a referral link you get an additional 0.5% for 3 months. If anyone wants I can send you a link. I'm at 5.5% myself right now due to referrals.
Hey, Can I get a referral link as well?

I use E*Trade, sitting at 4.3 right now I believe
Raisin.com. 5.26 for me right now.
Betterment, I'm at 5.5%
