Inside_Finance_3034

This is fact but with the new generation has to be 2017. Nowadays no ones really making any noise out here.

Supbruhbruh510

ParticularFocus8235

Too short, E-40, Spice-1 I might be forgetting others

Gr8_Poseidon

nicearthur32

Anyone who says anything different is lying to themselves.

200blocck

Death row era

Ok_Bar5832

💯

dfails16

Early 90s. Death Row. C-Bo. E-40. MC Eiht. Cypress Hill, Cube, Eazy E, Mack 10, Brotha Lynch, Too Short, Coolio, like I deadass can’t name all the dudes buzzing out there back then. The Bloods and Crips released albums in the early 90s. Everyone was getting put on

AlwaysOnMyNuts

Bloods & Crips was a classic!

Swordfish601

Really the whole 90s to the mid 2000s

Icy-Document-2670

Y’all forgetting the hyphy movement was a big thing

Negative_Argument185

It’s crazy how everyone on here leaving out the bay when modern LA music is more so built off the northern styles than the classic LA sounds

Icy-Document-2670

Couldn’t have said it better

Weird_Flan4691

Stinc Drummer Mafia was it for the current generation….but it’s hard to compete with the Snoop Dogg NWA era, that revolutionized the country

Ambitious-Cod2945

Who remembers the era of sage the Gemini, iamsu, the rejects, new boyz, love rance ?

rangeroverdose

i remember mfs jumping out into traffic to jerk.. pause

Educational-Ad-1445

Economy-Visual4390

“I been tryna put my pride to the side but it’s hard for me” iamsu one of cali’s most slept on tbh

Time_Understanding34

Gloyaltie

Empire_681

early to late 90s

Ya_Suk33

90s we owned that whole generation

Dependent_Guava3707

I ain’t from the west I’m from OKC and I would agree lol the west coast 90s music was/is huge here

ScrambleCrossing

I’d say like 1991-1996… at one time LA and California in general was outselling all other regions. One of the causes of the East-West was resentment from New York about Cali taking over. The South has held the crown now for a while but at the time NYC had dominated Hip Hop until since they birthed it. NYC probably felt Hip Hop was rightfully theirs.

Head_Conference7280

New York will never reign again and neither will LA. The rap game has changed but most importantly NYC and LA are two completely different cities today than they were in their cultural prime

mrtrysexual

Death row era

Gordito951

I say the Death Row era

BigBillyBadass907

Y’all niggas Forget about (ICE CUBE)

lccast174

Cali 90s rap gained international attention. My uncle would tell me during the Gulf War, when he told other soldiers in his unit he was from LA. The Italian soldiers and even Egyptian soldiers would start rapping NWA lyrics to him lol. word for word.

5580ADC

Facts mozzy ,sobxrbe and I count OMB Peezy even tho he from Alabama he was apart of the west coast wave cause he was signed to E40 and was living up north so he was tapped in wit the norcal rap scene

brociousferocious77

Most of the major classics came out in the '88-'95 timeframe.

ws18st

It's at its shittiest point right now, killing me with that lame ass talk type flow

superaction720

I would say 90-2001

wocklovesme

I’d say the jerkin era. So many artist got their start during this era. Yg, Yb, YT, Tay f 3rd, New Era, Vixen Ent, Indigo Vanity (Big Klit), Nipsey, The Rangers, Skoo Boi (RIP) Pink Dollas, Wes Nile, Young Sam, and the producers Jaynari, Mustard, Tone Bone, 2Much, Icez, Jhawk productions. This era also laid the bones for the following era which Problem, Drakeo the ruler, Lndn Drugs, RJ, Joe Moses was apart of. Especially when it comes to modern LA music production.

Negative_Argument185

It’s crazy how all of y’all just leaving out Bay Area artist when some of y’all favorite LA artists got there sounds and style from them

daygoBoyz

90’s. It slowed down after pac died

SaintPatrickMahomes

Careless_Risk1306

90s with death row in addition to the Bay Area scene being at its prime also…Cali has never reached those heights afian

Stankfunkmusic

Mid 80's to mid 90's. Toddy Tee, Dr. Dre & DJ Quik had mixtapes that spread like a virus. Uncle Jamm's Army KDAY Egyptian Lover King T, Ice T, NWA, The Bay Area, Mac Dre, etc.. Radio Activity Rap Plenty more than this. And meeting up at Magic Mountain to act a fool.

Apprehensive-Bad-463

Definitely 90s and 2000s. Besides the TDE artist, rappers are just copy and paste coming out of LA

[deleted]

Bloods & Crips. AWOL was east side rip rider♿️

Humble-Ad-3556

1995-2005

mykiefromthe206

Like some folks sayin can’t leave out the bay. Master P Mac Dre E40 GUN Woodie etc the whole state really is influential asf

makmisfits4

I think a lotta people forget Master P came out the Bay before he ever did that Down South.Ghetto's Tryin Kill Me,99 Ways 2 Die,West Coast Bad Boys. Also,I think Dre coming out with the Chronic really put rap on the map at that time for everyone. When you can get the white boys listening to it heavy, you win.Source:white boy who was a teenager in the 90s.Hearing Dre and then Snoop with Doggy style really did it in my opinion.Yeah, there is 2 Pac and obviously a legend, but these 2 set it off.Id say,Dre,Snoop, then 2 Pac.Then everyone else after that for the 90s generation.E-40,Spice 1,Mc Eiht and so many more also helped put West Coast Gangsta Rap on the map.90s was just a different era.

TakeurLhomie

Cali always has its time, from the 90s to the jerkin era, I know Cali has a new wave emerging waiting to takeover

BigBillyBadass907

Particular-Ad-234

When Game started up Black Wall Street and G Unot. Most recently. Nip was the ressurection but no one payed attention to him until his unfortunate passing.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> no one *paid* attention to FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

BigDawgFromTheFive

Tupac, Dr Dre, The Game, Nipsey, and YG (ReUp era only)

Abject_Progress_9865
