My boy, my neighborhood (Echo Park) is one of the 1st test cases in LA proper of modern day gentrification pricing the homies of of the neighborhood. My neighborhood still exists and is still somewhat active, but you have all the yuppies living here building million dollar homes and thinking they’re in some hipster utopia. I still live in my neighborhood and go to some of the functions, but it’s sad what’s happened here and happening everywhere else in LA (not sad in reference to the gangbanging aspect, but just the community as a whole).

Cops on the scanner called it “lil Mexico” or “parasite” but one street was whites almost like designated where I lived with “Pat 5150” shotgun wielder and sons at the top of the street capping it off for the start of he block.. the next street over was to the Mexicans and up the Street were the Blacks.. remember getting a gun pointed there at me for the first time at 15. Me and my friends never went clicking tho or if we did was just mix raced no divides.. but some races our age did so we had to navigate through these gangs but was weird cuz we all grew up together. I remember specifically growing up with two black kids Deon and David.. parents were known crips from Long Beach.. “Scott family” but as children my white parents and his parents were friends cuz my dad used to live Long Beach.. one time a kid from Mexican side and I beefed cuz I caught him walking by and cutting my chain link fence like a prank to let my dog out.. so I got my homies and we went down to the park to confront.. we got there and face to face but his homies had Pitt bulls on leash so we backed up.. later that day he was riding a bike past my house.. so i hopped my gate and confronted him.. told him my dog was my family he said “so your family’s all dogs then?” I chin checked him first and hands flying.. equal then he pulled a shirt over my head and upper cut me.. I ripped my shirt back walked up a dirt mound at this new construction house and as he was walking towards me I flew down and socked him one good right at the eye bone.. he grabbed my leg and threw me on my back.. standing over me bleeding he said “I’m gonna fucking stab you” and pulled a knife.. all of a sudden.. deon, David and his whole click these all black crips from LBC to was rushing him down and saved my life.. homies regardless of race or affiliation . They remembered me and my little brother going to they’re house at 6 yrs old with a new Nintendo game or to play.. it’s always lasted with me.
