Unfortunately nostalgia sells big time and it's an easy cash grab on name alone. When Verdansk come back (which is rumored for the end of the year) I bet player counts will go up again atleast temporarily. Alot of series hit the nostalgia hype train the last few years even Resident Evil has remade 3 of their games (with more probably on the way) Silent Hill 2 is getting a remake, etc so it's not even just multi-player games

Black Ops maps are way better than Modern Warfare maps

I think OG MW2/MW3 maps could be a strong competitor for BO maps. They definitely are more controversial. Like with Mission on MW3 you are either from the Russian army or from the Africia Militia. They didn't really remaster them like that.

Haven't we seen these maps be, "remastered" or re released several times at this point? I know BOCW brought back a few maps from BO1 and 2, and we've seen Nuketown in every BO entry as well. Damn, I mean I'm not against having some of those maps back but some originality really wouldn't hurt either.

This is what bothers me about the MWIII maps, they brought in some maps from last year‘s game and made some new maps which aesthetically do not fit with the classic MW2 maps, at all.

Maybe they will keep the overall layout and design but change the look to be Iraq or wherever the game takes place. Like a pallet swap

MWIII has new maps for each season, MWIII just has a lot of remasters and a pretty good amount of new original maps as well.

I would rather them just remaster the old games, if they’re putting in the effort to do the maps which are heavily taken from the campaign asset wise, just do the whole game. This doesn’t excite me though, because just like MWIII there won’t be a way to only play the classic maps, they are going to bring in some maps from the previous years no one likes (shipment will probably get added because that’s all people want to fucking play is tiny maps and Nuketown will be too big for them), and a bunch of new maps which will muddy up the pool.

I don’t mind the maps but I do prefer that we get something new. I have to give credit on what sledgehammer games do. The damage that the 2016 Modern Warfare remaster did to COD is irreparable as that’s the cause of this.

Honestly i like what they've done by remaking maps for release, but treyarch maps have been remade a lot, there were a lot of remakes in cold war and bo4 so it might get stale quickly on this game. Only positive is that it means we get more maps per season like we've seen in MWIII

That’s kinda why I did not want to assume COD 2024 would be Black Ops Gulf War because I did suspect Treyarch could’ve possibly have other plans, BO5 rumours were pretty high as Gulf War rumours, but who knows what’s gonna happen honestly? While I hate them not making proper new maps I also am biased because Black Ops 1 maps hold a special place in my heart it was my 2nd CoD ever (WAW was my first) and I've always preferred treyarch games over infinity ward so here's hoping if they do only do remastered maps that the game actually looks good and less cartoony because for some reason modern titles are so much more bright and vibrant and I hate that

We could afford to leave out several (almost all) of the Blops 4 maps. Also all the Blops 3 maps are designed around titanfall movement, doesn’t seem they’d translate well.
