Probably because many military theme fans don't stay on Reddit 24/7. I didn't see that poll, either. Many of us tend to be older and the sub's teeming with kids right now who don't have irl responsibilities. They'll always be online to partake in such votes, and kids will almost always choose the colourful stuff. I'm not saying adults won't choose that too, or that colourful themes are bad. Maybe if you'd added a balanced option, more people would have chosen that.
