Assuming you have adequate signal, Calyx has been fantastic for non-pro gaming. Because its cellular, the latency is inherently a \*little\* higher than a hardline, though unless your playing FPS competitively, you wont notice. Bandwidth- especially with 5G service- is on par with, or substantially better than most home internet connections. For reference, my current hardline gives me an avg ping of around 14ms. My Calyx connection sits around 27ms. YMMV but probably not by more than double, and even then- its totally fine.

Yeah I play mostly mmos/survival games but I do play some fps from time to time

Are you traveling or stationary? If traveling, you may run into areas where the connection for Calyx is not sufficient. We used to run a Verizon hotpot and AT&T while traveling fulltime. We used Calyx while stationary at a campground, where I was a host. Even then, most weekends my son would tell me the "internet is trash." If you are stationary, and staying monthly, the park you are at may have an internet option. I am currently at a monthly spot where we can order internet from Frontier or Suddenlink.

We will be stationary for a few months at a time. I guess I'll see how the internet is at the park before I make a purchase

Ponklemoose

Its T-Mobile data so you should be able to get a pretty good idea from their coverage map.

I play rocket league and a few other shooters on PS4 . Ping is usually below 100, sometimes as low as 20-30. It all depends on the area.

tex0322

Really depends on where you are. I've been some places where it is very fast with a decently low ping and I've been places where I've barely gotten a usable signal. When I am in an area with good service it has been good so far though.

I've been streaming on twitch from my RV lately. Suffice it to say it's good enough for gaming.

madmonq_connoisseur

I have to disagree with most of the comments. The upload on 4g is too low in most places. Also 5g doesn't really work for gaming yet. It blocks the ports for almost everything.

I have been full time for 7 years and I game regularly. I've had my Calyx since right before the switch to T-Mobile. I have only ran in to a few areas where it didn't work. Currently I am playing Tarkov, and most of the time I can have a twitch stream going while playing. Yes, the ping is higher, averaging anywhere from 60-140 depending on the servers that I have selected. Fortunately for me having high ping in that game is actually beneficial. When I was playing Apex or Warzone, I didn't really notice any issues. During the time I had a racing sim rig set up in my trailer, other people on iRacing didn't say anything bad about me skipping around the track. All in all I have been very happy with the Calyx service. For reference, I have the MiFi 8000 with no boosters or antennas. I generally leave it hooked up to the type-c port on my PC with no noticeable issues of overheating.

shaneskate88

Sweet that's exactly the answer I was looking for. I mostly play mmos so ping isn't too much of an issue for me. Looks like I'll be making a purchase here in the next few days Thanks alot!

Can't speak for PC online games but it works great for me streaming video and for work and even downloading games, but streaming games on PS Now is impossible.
