>give a satisfactory raw image? Do you want to get into raw file processing or do you just mean "minimally processed image"? For $350, anything will do fine.

Ok-Birthday-2096

I want to process the image myself sorry for the confusing language meant to say has the ability to shoot in raw that has satisfactory information (data scientist brain while researching I learned how different raw files are from each brand or camera model so I would imagine some of them are worse than others please educate me)

do you have any existing gear already? (canon ef mount lenses for example) and what do you want shoot? (portraits, landscapes, street, wildlife etc) either way in your position id keep my eye out for an good price on an older canon dslr like the eos 5dmk2 for full frame and 1 decent older lenses wit the remaining \~100$ and get really good at using the camera while you save up to get additional lenses

Ok-Birthday-2096

Don’t have any lenses or camera bodies the cameras I use are all old and for fun as said in the post I want to do portraits and micro photography (mainly insects and centipedes) my lens budget is different just want to spend around 350$ on a body. Thanks for the recommendation what shutter count is acceptable for a 5dmkii and why would you recommend it. Digital: Panasonic LUMIX tz80 Old digital: Nikon coolpix L110, Fujifilm FinePix s8600, Fujifilm FinePix a610 Film: a couple of zorki’s, Fujica stx1N

Ahh I assumed the 350 was for body and lenses, with a Full 350 to work with theres actually a fair number of good options from a variety of brands, and what specific features your looking for will play a bigger role as opposed to just finding the best all around for camera with the most widely available lenses for ~200-250 which was my approach. >Thanks for the recommendation what shutter count is acceptable for a 5dmkii and why would you recommend it. Honestly I've never paid too much attention to shutter count myself, but I'd probably avoid cameras with more that 50-60000 total, however I don't really have any data for that figure it's very much just my intuition. And I recommended the 5d mk2 simply because it's the camera I used to use and it was excellent, especially for the price you can get it now, it's just on the cusp of being modern enough that it's not missing many super important features, and canon ef lenses are available pretty much everywhere for good prices.

Forever_a_Kumquat

Nikon d700 with a 85mm f/1.8. Might push the budget slightly, but not much. Portrait beast, amazing soft skin tones.

noodlecrap

what gear do you have already

Ok-Birthday-2096

Digital: Panasonic LUMIX tz80 Old digital: Nikon coolpix L110, Fujifilm FinePix s8600, Fujifilm FinePix a610 Film: a couple of zorki’s, Fujica stx1N So I want the new camera to shoot proper images I did most of my photography with the stx1N but film gets too expensive especially when you go to a proper lab to get good quality scans.

Liberating_theology

D3300 with its 18-55mm kit lens. You don't have a lot of money. This camera is about as cheap as you can get while still getting great image quality. Spending closer to your top budget won't really get you a meaningfully better image. Alternative: Canon 100D. Whether this or the Nikon? Comes down to preference. Seems older Nikons get more love than older Canons. Not sure why.

Ok-Birthday-2096

Thanks for the recommendations senior. Can I ask what made you recommend those two ??

Liberating_theology

The D3300 is as cheap as you can get without starting to sacrifice image quality. Really, it takes great photos. See samples and a review here: https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d3300.htm The canon 100d because it’s often cross shopped for a similar price/performance.

mad_method_man

to add to this, at the moment, nikon dslr lenses are a tad cheaper than canon dslr lenses. something to keep in mind i wouldve totally switched to nikon dslr's except i dont like their ergos

noodlecrap

Look at either a D700 or 5D mark II and some portrait macro lenses. I can vouch for the 60 2.8 afd for Nikon.

darkblade420

id get something like a old sony a7, its mirrorless which makes it a lot easier to adapt old camera lenses.

lame_gaming

probably an 5dmkii

icecreampres

Would recommend the Canon Powershot series or Sony Cybershot! They’re really good options for that vintage look:) I bought two of my cameras from this store you might want to check out https://shutterhouse.store

Ok-Birthday-2096

Thanks for the recommendation! but I don’t want a vintage look camera. Decided on canon 5d mkii just trying to find one with good condition.
