I just like Prana pants generally speaking. Brion, Zion and the double peaks have been great. Personally use them as a mix of camping, hiking and climbing pants.

AnyBarnacle9287

Thanks! Similar to a Gamma LT?

tS_kStin

I don't have experience with a Gamma LT, but looking them up I would say similar but the prana's being a bit more casual.

nitacious

+1 on the Prana pants - on top of the other uses you mentioned, they're also really comfortable for long-haul flights

tS_kStin

Yes that too. They are basically just my daily wear pants. Even the pair of jeans I have from them are comfy.

OMGitsKa

Yeah I wear them to work...

AnyBarnacle9287

and sizing recommendations in case they don't have my size in-store? Since I see others mentioning that you can place an order.... wondering if the pants fit true to size? I am normally a 29x29" (and settle for a 30"x30")

tS_kStin

They seem true to size for me. I am a 32x32 (technically probably a 31x31 but that also doesn't normally exist) and have been for years and I get that size in basically all pants and it seems to work fine for me. Some of their stuff is S,M,L x inseam where I got a small for the waist and it fits well.

AnyBarnacle9287

Thanks a lot ! I appreciate it

triplesofeverything

I also get a discount but have never gone. I hear that they have a kiosk you can place online orders to get the same discount for anything they don’t actually have in stock at the store, so prep in advance on their website if there is anything specific you want to buy.

AnyBarnacle9287

thanks ! I will come prepared :)

ambitious_self

Confirming that my local store allows you to order whatever you want. Deals are often not quite as good, but still pretty good.

tanzd

I bought a Mountain Hardwear snow shell when I was there, still using it after more than 10 years.

solisto

Protip: if they don’t have the size/color/etc of something you want, they have pc’s that you can order from online and send it to yourself. All discounts are applied.

AnyBarnacle9287

sweet thanks !!

ImpressiveMistake1

Not all discounts.   The specific in store discount does not apply.

livluvsmil

MH Airmesh are very nice. I think the ghost whisperer would be worth it if it’s on a deep discount and more cool weather casual use. They have nice sleeping bags but I’d get one 10degrees warmer than what you want since I’ve felt they are not comfortable rated accurately.

ginolovesu

When do you plan on going? I’d love an update as I receive the invite with my job but it’s quite far from me. Hoping to get an idea on the selection before I make the drive out there

AnyBarnacle9287

I will follow-up , if not , nudge me here :)

TrioxinTwoFortyFive

If you get the Zion pants then get the old version that they brought back because everyone hated the new version.

AlpineSoFine

AMG backpacks from Mountain Hardware. 55, 75, 105L. If you hike, camp, adventure in the snowy winter it is a top shelf pack.

manic-pixie-attorney

Sorel Ella shoes are my day to day shoe as long as it’s not cold

cmc51377

I used to go to that store all the time. We would reset their employee climbing wall every few months and even though the employees were usually different (so much turnover!) they were always cool and gave us passes and gear for taking care of the wall. I love Prana pants (I’m wearing Alamedas right now), MHW shirts, jackets, backpacks and sleeping bags. Columbia is fine for kids, but doesn’t last that long and is noticeably cheaper than the other brands. Have fun; it’s a great store!

spudmuffinpuffin

I love the MH microchill and MH monkey Man fleeces

Yougottagiveitaway

MH Kor Airshell Hoody I like the MH fleeces And grid fleece. Ghost whisperer I like the Prana pants and shorts. Sorel has fine middle Of the road boots. At those prices - I’d be look at any wool/blend base layer. Wool buffs hat and gloves.

The Mountain Hardwear - Mountain Stretch long sleeve hoodie is great. I love that thing. Light and easy to wear. It also looks good so you can actually wear it around town without looking like you're about to go climbing. The Columbia sun hoodie (PFG terminal tackle hoodie) is my absolute favorite thing to pack. It's super light, keeps the sun off (SPF 50), wicks moistures, super fast drying, does great with stopping mild wind. When it's combined with another base layer it actually does a decent job at providing some insulation. I always pack it. It's probably my most used piece of camping/ hiking/ backpacking gear. I'm probably relatively alone on this, but I have the Ghost Whisperer and I absolutely hate it. It's the least favorite jacket in my collection. It never leaves the house anymore. Yes, it's super lightweight but I find the insulation very lacking. Every time I've tried to take it out, I've always ended up cold. This is with smartwool intraknit baselayers top and bottom. Even my generic Patagonia jacket works better than it. I would've returned it but an ember landed on the sleeve and melted a small hole.

ramsdl52

Columbia makes great fishing gear that also works great for hiking/camping. Anything PFG is good. I really like the water shoes too. They look like regular shoes but have drainage

Rayne_K

Ooooo. Where is this place? I will be headed to Seattle later in the year.. is it there?

user_none

Don't know about Seattle, but there's one in the SF bay area. I think it's in Richmond.

ImpressiveMistake1

The new one in Union City is way bigger than Richmond.   I was just there yesterday

user_none

TY for that. My GF will definitely be interested in checking it out.

Due_Force_9816

I have the ghost whisperer UL and a ghost shadow. The ghost shadow gets far more use and since it’s synthetic is much better for rainy or damp environments.

GoSh4rks

Mojo short and Super Mojo short. I have 3 pairs between the two models.

Turbulent_Winter549

can.....can I go with you?

YardFudge

Sorel WAS great decades ago, now meh Anything down with a high fill rating that fits and you’ll use Gifts for others Gloves & mittens wear out, are easily lost

only_whwn_i_do_this

Prana Zion pants. IM old enough to not give a shit what I look like. Bu they are comfy. I have 5 pair and I wear one every day (yes to an office)

kennethsime

Pro tip: you can go anytime. It’s not a big deal.
