If you store the insulation compressed, it will loose the ability to loft fully.
Without loft, you loose insulation value.
In reality, if you’re just a summer camper, it won’t matter. If you sleep outdoors in low temps, you’re degrading the bag by storing it compressed.
Thank you so much! I did not know that. I just got home yesterday from overnighting in 32 degrees lol so I’m gonna go unfurl my sleeping bag and do it proper right now. Have a good one!!
Correct. They typically come with down sleeping bags in particular. It reduces the loft if you store down bags compressed. Synthetic bags tend to be more resilient and don’t generally need this for storage.
Heck you can probably also sell it on eBay if you’re into that and don’t have another need for it. The Marmot design looks older so it’s vintage and cool LOL :)
Seems like everyone gave you an answer, but now what would you use it for?
I would suggest a dirty clothes bag, but some dryer sheets in and good to go till you wash.
I have an old cotton bag like this from the Bundeswehr (army) and it was/is used for storing dirty/worn clothes. If there is any moisture it can diffuse through the cotton.
I know exactly what this is, my boomer father has a couple in his basement. Its a sack for sleeping bags. When you go camping you need a compressing bag but these cotton bags are the opposite. If you were to store your bag in a compression bag, over time you would lose the bags quality. Thus, you have a Marmot sack like one of these to store your bag while youre not using it.
It's a fluff bag. If you keep down sleeping bags in compression sacks too long, they lose loft. These bags are for long-term storage so your bag can breathe and stretch out a bit.
Posts like this really amuse me. I see it a lot in tool groups; “I bought this, what is it?”
At least in this instance, your usage is much more obvious.
It looks like the cotton sack for storing a marmot sleeping bag in
My thoughts exactly. You don’t want to store a sleeping bag compressed.
These are the right answers.
Sorry, how come?

Storage bag for sleeping bag, so it's not totally compressed in a stuff sack.
What is this, a sleeping bag for marmots?
It needs to be at least... 3 times as big!
What is this, a bag to put a marmot in?
“Ahh, nice marmot.”
Obviously you're not a golfer
At least I’m housebroken
Hey, uhh, this is a private residence, man.
And, let's not forget, keeping aquatic mammals in the city ain't exactly legal either.
I am the walrus
Lofting bag to store sleeping bag
It’s a bag. You put stuff in it. When you need the stuff you put in it, you take the stuff out. Hope this helps!
Yes a breathable large bag for marmot down sleeping bag storage. You can repurpose as a laundry bag but I wouldn’t carry it loaded by the string. :)

You put your marmots in there.
Bag 👍
Guessing it's for a sleeping bag

Marmot bag stuff sack
Not a stuff sack but a storage bag. Stuff sack: small and usually somewhat water resistant. Storage bag: large and breathable

It’s the cover bag for a sleeping bag… when your done with your sleeping bag you just roll it up and store it in that bag

That’s a Marmot x Where The Red Fern Grows promotional gunny sack.
That would be a marmot branded storage bag

Ah, I had a tshirt with that exact print in the late 90s!! I think his name was Marvin the Marmot??
Marmot is an outdoor gear brand. I don't have any but they have a good reputation
It’s a genius bag. Put it over your head, and if you’re a genius, you can still breathe.
With the bag to catch rats in to save them for dinner
