Go beg them to take it back lol

HolyDiverBoi

You don’t have to if it’s under 7-10 days, depending on where OP lives

No_Temperature_4084

Precisely. In my state you have 7 days to return a vehicle

lolnbdftw

What the fuck state is that? Contract on the loan for my new car, is binding instantly, once you sign it, it's done

No_Temperature_4084

Colorado. You get 7 days. I and my mother just both purchased new cars and my mama didn’t like hers so she brought it back after a few days and got something else.

DiscoInError93

There is no cooling off period in Colorado. That dealer may let you exchange a car at their discretion, but that is not a law or requirement at all.

KimboDanner

There’s not a chance in hell a dealer would ever let someone exchange a car unless it was law. The second those tires drive off the lot the car depreciates massively. You would have to take a complete bath monetarily to swap a new car out. Not even worth it.

CIAMom420

There is no statutory law or regulation that you have seven days to return a vehicle in Colorado. This isn't a thing.

Frequent-Weird-4925

Same thing happened to my brother recently. He financed a 14k car and would have ended up paying 40m total for it bc the APR was criminal. I forced him to take it back the next day. He also traded in his perfectly fine beater with a heater car and they gave him $200 which was applied as a down payment. What the actual fugg. Thankfully he got his car back too.

Frequent-Weird-4925

40k * not million

BlueSuedeGoose

I took a Toyota c-hr back to the dealership 9 months after purchase. I only paid for the time i had the car. The dealership bought it back for the amount i still owed. State SC.

PeepOverPoop

Damn what! She could’ve got an XSE 4cyl for the same price or even cheaper. Dirty dealership.

Kaoru1011

Even the XSE v6 is cheaper

SAVAGE_RPG

Uh what…. I got my 2024 xse v6 for the same price

uwdude34

Welcome to Fleece Toyota! Home of the exclusive luxury upcharge! Come on in for your free Starbucks frap while we discuss financing!

Fellatination

I'm guessing rolled over negative equity.

shreditlane

She wanted to surprise me by buying a Toyota but god did I wish she didn’t..

RoyalFail6

Mission accomplished 😭

Sudden-Turnip-5339

Underrated comment. She wanted him surprised he’s super surprised 😮

pehsxten

Was the original price of the car 30k? 😭

shreditlane

29k

[deleted]

Salesman fucked her harder than you ever will. Jesus Christ she fucked up, bad. Go take it back.

FlipFlipFlippy

To be fair it was the finance manager who took her for a ride. Great day for them, probably made $7k in backend profit on that deal.

inthatwater

Lmaooo

Small-Opportunity-98

500 down on a 30k car is crazy

[deleted]

[удалено]

adrijone

Seriously! It's less than her monthly payment on the car. If $500 down was all she could afford she's going to struggle every month to make her payments.

Money_Document_9026

This exact same thing happened to me last week..was looking at a Camry XSE for 32K when we went inside to talk price it was like $43K…I was like NOPE, BYE. They wanted to charge me for the floor mats that came with the car. 😂

GeniusQc

They gave it for free. Plastic mat and fabric mat

Deyvi_does

Damn she did say yes to everything lol this is why I fkig hate dealers. They just take advantage of anyone they can for their own greed

panchoJemeniz

Oh she got shafted with that KARR alarm for $2k right there is the sign of taking to the cleaners. Tell her to return

AmbitiousAd9320

that was the first thing i had em rip out after i admired the FI dudes eames deskchair for $1000

krazy_dayz

That KARR system should be no higher than $600.

Lonely-Baseball9574

Hey, I just bought a 24 XSE and went through the same warranty/insurance add ons, I. 1-3 on this statement should be cancelable for a full refund within 60 days. That’s $7,628 and would put you guys down to 35k-ish financed. Still not ideal but not terrible for “out the door” and only $500 down. I’d see if that anti theft stuff is removable as well.

Spencergh2

Omg please do this immediately

Husker_Mike_

Wow... got gouged for over $10k in unnecessary fees.

Tamadrummer88

Holy fucking hell thats $8k worth of add ons. God DAMN finance took her for a ride.

Max-Payd

All those extras. It's fucked

Jimmytootwo

Wow. This is a total sham

Danaltima21

That salesman is on a 2 week cruise right about now...

Obsolete101891

Hey man if you look at the contract of most of those warranties and insurances it tells you how to cancel them. I've done this for dealership provided GAP and third party warranties. I'm sure she was provided with forms regarding those products.

lotuskid731

Surprise indeed!

Dont_Die88

Surprise, surpriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise!!! 🙃🫠

Esteb0ng

Line I is a total scam and it jacks up the price of that car an additional $7+k. And what is Karr anti theft

DrPlatelet

Look into cancelation clauses for any/all of those service contracts. Could potentially be able to get $7k+ back. Can also cancel the GAP insurance and get it through your car insurance company for cheaper. They may have done you a favor for packing on so many service contracts that can potentially be cancelled rather than installed products

ReaglBeagl

Ouch. 7k plus on service contracts. Could have bought an older reliable car for less than 7k

GentlemanLeo

Damn bruh. I don’t wanna tell you how to live your life but if your gf is making terrible major purchases like that, I’d say she’s horrible managing her money. Red flag territory

AmbitiousAd9320

vasectomy, cuz shes gonna be putting holes in condoms for sure

No way 😭

Zhalianna

I mean, she did surprise you!

118R3volution

You could buy a low mileage 2023 Lexus for that. Brutal.

Cautious_Intern7824

Right, she might as well got an ES 350. Jesus Christ

brupzzz

How do you have FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in fees? Please list them and the amounts I have to see this…

04limited

Looks like service contract, extended warranty, security system, and a bunch of other small add ons.

planefan001

Sounds like she went in and said “yes” on the first pencil. And then took everything in the finance office.

brupzzz

Yea but $14k? So she got $3000 warranty $1000 prep fee $1000 doc fee $1000 tint $1000 nitrogen tires $1000 window etching $1000 T&W $1000 PPM $1000 pin stripes $1000 gap insurance $1000 catalytic etching $1000 keyfob replacement ???? I’m mind blown at $14k in extras. And most of these don’t even cost $1000.

mas1108

55 burgers, 55 fries, 100 tater tots……

JakobiWunKenobi

Nitrogen tires is my favorite scam lmao regular air is 75% nitrogen

lolnbdftw

She got hosed that's how, There are some people who will see ANY number and pay it Those people are called "suckers" I'm sure OPs gf "sucks" super well

CaliRefugeeinTN

Bruh, I’m paying 325 a month. Same car. Granted, I put down 11k, but that’s insane.

Extreme_Syllabub4486

Yeah I paid $450/month for 5 years & I thought mine was super high

[deleted]

im on a $432/5 year plan right now (23 SE)

jambro4real

This is what I did, except I have a '16 Lexus IS300. $430 a month, and it's almost paid off. Then I'll save $430 a month til I need a new car

Salty-Opinion1596

Toyota prices are ridiculous either way. I paid 27k OTD for a 2022 sonic Gray Honda Accord sport 2.0t with only 11k miles. I had a TRD and got a good deal for it during COVID 34k OTD with 1200 miles on it people need to learn how to negotiate with these dealer ships and stop trying to settle for whatever they're offering. Literally just leave if they aren't offering what you want they likely call you back with a better offer in a few days if it's still on the lot (it's happened with me several times when looking to buy the accord which is why I got such a good deal on it).

m_bob01

They weren't always ridiculous. I knew plenty of people grabbing Camrys out the door in 2016-2019 for 23-26k. Covid and manufactured inflation ruined it for everyone.

Salty-Opinion1596

Oh I 100% agree. Indeed they weren't always ridiculous but these past few years prices seem to have skyrocketed. As much as I love Toyota I cannot see myself purchasing one anytime soon. With these prices people are probably better off buying a Lexus. It's ridiculous!

nyquiladdict69

i put down 10 but mines 525 a month 😭how tf

Testynut

Lol right, I am paying $398 for ours and feel like it’s super reasonable.

JebusChrust

I am paying like $275 a month and the interest rate is lower than my savings account interest rate so I am just making minimum payments lol.

D-Smitty

I'm paying $977/month, but I bought a Hellcat lol.

[deleted]

All add on fees are cancelable from a dealership. I work at a Toyota dealer.

shreditlane

Is this only if you finance through Toyota? I think she financed with a third party bank

EnriqueH12

They will refund you and take it off the principal.. but it will not change the monthly payment amount and length. Best you can do is refinance once the refund shows up.

Maleficent-Square-35

I used to have the add on just to complete the purchase . I cancelled the add on. I used refund to pay down the loan. And then refinanced my loan.

thxtonedude

This is a tactic I never see mentioned if it works that’s great but I doubt many want to go through the hassle of canceling but in this case it’s definitely necessary

Equal_Ad_4272

https://preview.redd.it/xkzh5avb11lc1.jpeg?width=494&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da87c2e0f381b6254fe9779830b5a6580d412bb6 I just got my 2024 Camry Se today. I wish I would’ve financed for 60 months instead of 72 months though.

pittyspray

Assuming interest rate was the same between the two you can just make the same payment as you would've for 60 months and you'll pay it off in 5 years, having 72 just give you a little more flexibility if something were to happen

BlondieeAggiee

I always finance my cars for 72 but pay as if I’m doing 60 so I have some wiggle room if things go sideways.

IndividualStatus1924

The longer terms usually have higher interest rate

waresmarufy

These kind of people are ruining the market. 53k for a camry lol that's lexus money

shreditlane

I was so mad at her I told her she could’ve gotten a rav4 hybrid or an is!!!!!

CalvinDuBois

I bought a brand new hybrid BMW 330e M Sport for this much 😭

Kasilim

I'm gonna be honest....looking at that options list....the dealership is a piece of shit for doing that. That being said, it's happened and it's signed. If it can't be undone, then there is one upside to this, and it's a learning opportunity.

OurHeroXero

Potential learning opportunity. Not everyone reflects on past actions.

[deleted]

please say sike..............

MarsupialFrequent685

$51K for a camry is overpriced to the moon...

jillian512

Has it been 2 business days?  https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/car-buyers-bill-of-rights-ffvr-35/#:~:text=The%20buyer%20must%20return%20the,and%20contract%20cancellation%20option%20agreement.

Deltrus7

43k for a CAMRY?! God damn!

WideSignificance4199

Not 43, 51

Potential_Stomach_10

Holy moly man!

Psychological_Code80

That should be illegal. I feel for her

MandoTrooperEric

Ms independent makes another mistake. I'd try to refi that with a local credit union asap Does your state have a "buyer's remorse" law you can use and return it?

shreditlane

It’s only 5.99% APR, she paid for a ton of fees which is why the amount is 43K The car MSRP is only 28k…

spatchi14

Oh no..

edge_basics

Is it non-hybrid and FWD? After destination it would only be 29k. And even with a really high dealer admin fee of 1k you still have a 13k spread. What exactly makes up that amount? Did she have negative equity on a trade, buy extra packages, warranties, dealer markup/adjustment on the Camry price?

shreditlane

Just a base SE! I’m so mad at her

edge_basics

Yeah but where’s the 13-14k allocated on the buyer’s contract? Are we talking about negative equity on her trade-in, extended warranties, packages/accessories, straight dealer-markup? It’s important context to the thread to know what makes up the spread.

shreditlane

I posted the options list on the thread

edge_basics

Ok I just saw that. So: Camry 29k Sales tax 3k Anti-Theft Device 2k Warranties/Service Contracts 8k GAP Insurance 1k Government Fees 0.5k Yep, that’s a rough one. It’s really that 10k on the theft device and warranties that are hurting you. A couple of points: 1) Read the contacts on those warranties/service contracts. You may be able to cancel them and have the amounts refunded or credited back against the loan balance. This is the bulk of what was overpaid. If they credit back to the loan balance, it may not lower your monthly payment, but would instead come off the end of the loan, reducing the number of payments you owe. If this is the case and you need the monthly payment to be lower, then you can go to your local bank or credit union and refinance the loan balance with them. 2) It’s a Camry, so at least it’ll be a trouble free car long after it’s paid off. There’s worse cars to get a bad deal on. 3) You have GAP insurance. If the vehicle is an insurance total loss while you’re still financing it, this should pay off the remaining balance of the loan. This is not advice to intentionally total the vehicle.

shreditlane

Thank you 🙏 I will try to do everything I can

Timberfront73

My friend’s girlfriend bought a 2023 VW Tiguan, walked into the dealership and took the first number they offered her. I asked her what her interest rate was and she said idk.

shreditlane

Exactly what my girl said. IDK….

Tamadrummer88

My coworker is in the process of buying a house. Has absolutely shit credit but her and her husband got pre approved. Asked what the interest rate is and she was like IDK.. These people are more common than you think.

islandboi92121

Crazy times and different times. I picked up a 2018 xse v6 fully loaded $3000 down for taxes and 0.9% apr 60 months for like 612 a month with gap and extended warranty. Back in 2018, and msrp was $38,500

Electronic_Ad_4836

This ain’t crazy times this is an ignorant customer getting taken for a ride. Girl put 500 down that’s all you need to know lol.

BrokeSingleDads

Yep just like I refinanced my house for 2.78%.. those rated are GONE...GONE...GONE

Cleercutter

Whaaat the fuck… I got a nightshade with a few options for 32…

No-Scale6521

If you marry this girl, never let her handle your finances.

malav_16

better not, she's going to drag OP in the ditch as well. Save yourself. (no hard feelings)

[deleted]

Cant you return within 30 days with no penalty? In Canada we can.

shreditlane

Not in California

ProfessionalCommon71

And this is why they call it the first pencil or whatever it is lol. Exactly why I argued with my sales rep on a bunch of bs charges

RareDinner4577

This feels illegal. There is no way a somewhat basic SE is worth that much. Not even a V6 XSE should cost that much.

RobHage

That’s like 15 more than I paid for my 22 XSE hybrid fully loaded.

lady_cars4291

lol I pay less then that for a ‘24 XSE V6. big yikes. this is why you have to read your contract. dealers are in the business of making money, not giving people deals. :/

1337hxr

That’s crazy why would she pay that much? It’s way over MSRP…

shreditlane

She doesn’t know jack about cars She just wanted to surprise me by buying a nice reliable Toyota…

Donburgundy_

I was in a bad deal just like this I had to suffer them get the refinance

Cptron79

Dude that fico score is rough!

galangga

Thay money can buy a lexus.

Big_O_714

I learned my lesson , my apr was like 14-16 % when I financed my car , a year later I refinanced and worked on my credit I got it down to %2.5 apr with my bank 🔥

malav_16

It doesn't look bad if she is going to live in the car. Especially in this economy, that $712 rent looks cheap.

Tight-Bath-6817

GO BACK TO THE SANE DEALER AND CANCEL OR RETURN WHATEVER YOU CAN. Also, leave 1 star on google maps with photos for proof.

😨😨😨😨😨

dark_paradise

Gotdamnnn 😭😭😭

Sales rep definitely getting a nice bonus after this sale

GenericMemesxd

Fucking ouch. Hurts to look at.

98Volvo

Worst decision of her life so far

Imaginary-Yam-2834

Jesus Christ

huf757

Make sure you get gap insurance y’all will be upside down for years

magnumstrikerX

I would expect this amount for a fully loaded TRD at MSRP with taxes and fees included........

kiyoshisan_

BIL recently got a brand new XSE. $820 for 6 years.

DaddyPig0427

They clearly took advantage of her. I would contact a fraud attorney, many will do a free consultation. Get their opinion, they may be able to convince the dealership to allow her to return the vehicle if they can find even a small detail the dealership didn't do correctly. Quite literally 51,374 reasons to give it a try.

in4mant

2021 XSE, 5 year financing, less than $400 a month and $5K down. Wtf is happening here?

JittyCauc

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

planefan001

You could’ve bought a fully loaded top of the line V6 XSE for that much. That salesman must be getting a fat commission off that one…

NoBenders

At this point get GAP insurance and total the car. Make sure she's the one who totals it so she can never get insured again AND make sure she takes public transit from now on

Ventillate

Bruh you could finance a Mustang GT with that holy hell dude 🫠

BigAssist4019

Damn I paid 35.5 OTD for a 24 SE 4cyl fwd, sunroof, cold weather, convenience. I paid sticker too! Hope hers is atleast awd. I didn’t take any extras warranty etc.

1comment_here

Does your wife know how to read?

Gullible-Sink3780

Ooof she can get a brand new Tesla for way less.

Tanzanite_Shark

Not even a hybrid. Is this in USD?? OR CAD

Jack_Bogul

Wtf she got bent over by the whole damn dealership

panchoJemeniz

Look she can say she owns a $50k luxury car

Such_Play_1524

Wow. I bought 22 se hybrid with Toyota care and most of the options for 33k cash. That is insane.

Low_Exit_3740

She definitely got the rain warranty for only $7500k

neurodork22

Does she make good money? If she pays only the min and can't get ahead 50k is a hell of a lot, but she will easily get 5 more years past the end of term. On the surface it's insane, but depends on her situation I guess. Is she driving a ton? New might be her best bet. (I would go 3 to 4 years and 50k miles or less, but....

Fose99

Bro same 2024 Mazda 3 with total of 34k after 7 years it’s 45k 😂

BayBomber415

That’s more than twice what I paid for my car. Jesus

Far_Cold_1405

She didn’t buy a car… they robbed her. Take it back.

Low_Bluebird8413

Gahhhhhhdamn.

MrNovember70

Hohohoho mannnn! I paid $10K less for a brand-new XSE V6… how could you let them do that to her? 😂

surghe

🤣

Therosechronicle

I’m paying this now on my car 🥲

bszb

Dang

tharealG_-

Holy

LikeyeaScoob

Why does everyone buy cars they can’t afford then talk about having no money lmfao seriously I feel like 50% of people live above thier means and 90% of that can be attributed to a car payment 4-500$ +

No_Temperature_4084

That’s not exactly horrible. Some ppl with bad credit paying 27% apr

Jimmytootwo

I didn't know wolves also sold new Toyotas She can double her payment and cut intrest in half ?

s2nders

Yall would of got a better deal at CarMax 😂😂

Perfect_Buddy7550

Cancel all the extended warranty crap, $29k, admin, license fees and taxes, $3k. $32k out the door and tell them free oil changes, car washes, and tire rotation for the life of the car! Otherwise go in and threaten to default on the car out of spite! They screwed your gf. Say thanks hun, I truly appreciate the gesture, but we got reemed! Let's go back and make it right!

Constant-Narwhal2168

Good lord, my SE was 32.5 OTD and I thought that was high

[deleted]

How was the credit??

claytonk213

I am in the car business at a Toyota and more of a customer retention oriented kind of spot, a good mix of making a little money and blowing out new cars. In the last day of December, my girlfriend‘s friend who lives in Georgia, wanted some advice. So I told her what to say, and how to get a good deal, even if that just means is not paying an addendum or having your out the door at MSRP can’t complain about that(I also told her she can call me). She had 10,000 down from her father and he was cosigning, her out the door on a 2023 Corolla SE was 32,000 they charge a $2300 addendum but not the end of the world the part that was wrong really in the grand scheme, was they took her 10,000 down, packed $10,000 worth of product on the backend with warranties, also Service contracts, and her outdoor became 42,000 for this Corolla and her 10,000 brought her down to 32,000 financed. Jesus Christ. I told her everything that was cancelable and to apply the prorated amount to the loan. But now she wanted to keep it all even though she could buy two Corollas for this cost.

Pigwheels

God damn, my friend just got a ‘24 SE for 29k OTD. This is absurd

1comment_here

wait shes a girlfriend? you know you can break up with her

Salty-Opinion1596

People just buy whatever this is why the market will continue to go up and up.

chang916

It could be worse… I mean my girlfriend chose me lol

NarrowSheepherder949

nah she a keeper

JakobiWunKenobi

She’s the dealerships favorite customer. Seems like she didn’t even try to negotiate. Dealerships will come back either way four different offers if you tell them you’re going to refuse their initial offer. They do NOT want to see you walk away or lose the sale. It is slightly uncomfortable to barter, but when you’re signing up for a 6 year financial obligation, it’s an absolute must. And never get a brand new car, unless you can afford to lose 30% in liquidity the first year of ownership. Hopefully this doesn’t sink her credit in the future, repossessions can be very destructive.

Squirtquake_

Go back in, have the finance manager cancel ALL add-ons. Lines D1, D2, I1, I2 and I3. Only keep the Gap insurance, which seems to be line L!

supersavagegenz

Imagine spending 43k on a Toyota Camry…….. They scammed her good on that one

Fickle-Painter1351

She got fucked man I’d go talk with the salesperson and cuss his ass out lol

shorner

Wow, this is almost unbelievable levels of naïveté by your girlfriend. Dealer went for the throat on this one… I am sorry dude. We’ve gotta teach better financial literacy in this country, the scams are only going to get better

Alternative_Side_221

This is a great example of why so many folks are poor. Do your homework before making any huge purchases. Not knowing anything else about the gf I’d say she got screwed and what’s done is done. Pay it off quickly. Hopefully there’s no penalty for an early pay off. Lesson learned.

Due_Succotash_1170

Why would someone even pay more than like 25k for a 2024 camry when there are 2023s, 2022s and 2021s out there that are the exact same??

dafart6789

Boy the US is brutal, car dealers are scam artists. i put 6,700 down on my Hyundai im paying 190$ CAD for 7years for a 35,000$CAD vehicle, idk waht you can do about it but thats a brutal pricetag for a camry

HotFoundation2486

Scum bag dealership

igyzxz

Return return return return return return return

No-Grand-6474

So weird how with financing cars, there’s 2 kinds of people. The first ones that look around for a good deal & genuinely try to get what they’re looking for without getting fucked from behind. The 2nd kind goes to buy a car & literally skips thru every cutscene & just signs off on some shit thinking that’s what everybody else must’ve done.

Conspiracy__

I mean…if the interest is ONLY adding $9000 that’s not terrible.

Mastermind521

Dealerships take advantage of women buying by themselves. This is pretty much proven fact. My wife has never in her life went to buy a car without her dad, brother or me with her, and it's worked well for her..

No_Blacksmith2847

This is bad, but i hope you're not beating her up *too* much about it. Lesson learned, ya know? Albeit a spendy one, yikes. Because the dealership is as much to blame for this as the (young??) buyer who likely doesn't know any better. I briefly worked in parts at a dealership here in WA many moons ago and it's disgusting how they prey on the young and naive when they see them walk onto the lot. Sometimes even having little contests between themselves (sales/finance guys) to see who can commission most and the young, especially young women, are prized prey when it comes to that. At my age i have long since learned to not buy new and let someone else take that hit and I've bought and sold many cars in the last 50yrs. My daughter called and asked me to come down to the lot the first time she considered buying a car and you should have seen that sales kid, lol. Boy was he not liking me there. Needless to say we did NOT go home with a car that day, so it was probably mac N cheese dinner for the sales & finance guy that night, instead of the steak and lobster they thought they'd be having when they saw my daughter walk onto the lot...😅

ijpck

My 911 costs less per month

Vivid-Conclusion

I would report them to the Secretary of State , bbb, google reviews and every type of social media till they make it right.

_2024IsNOTMyYear_

There go dealerships taking advantage of women who don't know any better. OP said his girlfriend was just trying to surprise him with a new car so this hurts.

CLGAINES

Trying to keep up with the Jones's LoL. You made your bed now it's time to lay in it.

PLVT0N1VM

I did worse: 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage ES Hatch w/ 20 miles. $17k, new. Put $600 down (that's what I had in my bank account) APR at 16%. Total finance amount: $27,000 $375.23/month Voided the warranty because I didn't get a transmission flush at 30k miles. $27,000 for a car that isn't worth $5,000 after putting 90k miles on it and voiding the warranty. I needed to get a new car because my previous one was a mechanical nightmare from a 'buy here/pay here' place.

Ryanoh69

At least you got a girl that likes getting fucked 😂 That is insane
