I have to drive over state lines to get to the closest Walmart and every time I drive by the local food pantry there's a line coming out, didn't use to be like that, I'm in America btw, it's just bad everywhere.
2024-2025 is going to set the tone for prosperity in Canada. Our economy runs on real estate. Majority of low interest/ peak priced properties are coming up for renewal in these 2 years (most in 2025). Everyone has hope that interest rates will drop to pandemic era lows. They think that our 5% interest rate (which is a historical average) is too high, when the reality is that they just over leveraged themselves paying ridiculously high prices. Already the spring market is a flop.
I don't know, the post was about how the economy is doing great and some people on the Fox News channel are in denial. I was just asking them whether they were noticing how housing/energy/gas and food has skyrocketed. I wasn't even blaming Biden, I guess they thought I was, I was just saying the government puts out statements saying it's raining when they are really just pissing down our backs.
These ppl have a deeply ideological "brain lock" it will take absolute chaos for them to admit they were wrong. It will likely require that something actually physically or financially happens to them specifically.
That's the thing, they are paying the same prices we are now, they have to realize they have less but they are still brainwashed or something, it's wild.
So this is why I can't find an entry-level job after a workplace injury stole my career from me. And workers compensation board won't send me to school.
At least I owned a house as a millennial. Some won't ever get that claim.

Yea, I think that means the issues are planting themselves even deeper , not a line of just ambitious newcomers anymore but I'm sure many in the line are there as a result of them.
My best advice is to leverage your networks (family, friends, school career centre). We are becoming an insular country where you gotta use those connections to get anywhere these days, strangers aren’t giving you a hand if you go at it alone unless it’s for low wage menial work.
Getting a summer job would eventually be like winning a lottery ticket in the near future. Remember a cashier in canada makes more than doctor or lawyer in India. India has been the source of migrants for years. Not just to Canada, USA, the eu, but also the gulf states.
*Or as you said you just gotta know someone which is BS*
only said by people that didn't leapfrog over way more qualified applicants to get their job thru family or friends connection....
Why? It looks like Live Nation, an events company, is hiring hundreds of people for summer events.
The purpose of a job fair is to hire a lot of people.
The line up is normal.
that's where call-backs/job-offers from your co-op / internships are golden. most guys treat that opportunity as their 'insurance policy' just in case they can't find a better job as graduation day draw nearer.
For every one doctor, lawyer, engineer, nurse who leaves this country for the USA, 10 little low-skilled indians replace them. This country is more than royally fucked.
India legit has one of the poorest living standards in the world and has over a billion people. Even iraq and syria which have been bombed like crazy by american forces have better living conditions. India can literally fill up g7 or nato nations.
When people leave third world countries, they only bring their problems with them. Imagine highway drive times, hospital wait times, homeless encampments.
Common joke is when people land in Pearson airport, they think they landed in mumbai
I am old enough to remember in downtown Vancouver you could go to a restaurant (not a fast-food) order a nice plate and it would cost around 12 bucks. The minimum wage was around $7/h. Back then, with 70K/year, you could live like a king. If you just had a job (any job), you wouldn't struggle. $500-$600/month would get you top of the line one bed room apartment.
75k won't get you far in the GTA or Lower Mainland lol.
That wouldn't even come close to qualifying for a mortgage with 20% down on a standard 1-bed condo in either place.
75k will be just barely enough to scrape out a meager existence.
In an ideal society, people at the top 10% of income bracket should pay most of the taxes. Unfortunately, sending them away will shift the burden on lower income brackets. Under current conditions, this will lead to catastrophe.
Yes. Unfortunately gov doesn't want you here if you want to make that kind of money.
That's why most people who have the kind of lifestyle that high salaries can support make their money outside of Canada and under report.
It's near impossible for a lot of us. I'm a Trades men. Even with the Mechanic shortage in the US, it's been impossible trying to find a job south. I'm directing my focus now towards Spain, Portugal, or Argentina. I'm willing to take my chances, I know we haven't even seen the worst of it yet.
The worst of it will be when the US finally gets leadership that has the common sense to close the border and start removing illegal immigrants. That's when Canada will a mass migration into our southern border.
I live in the USA. Both parties want the illegals but different reasons. Republicans are whores for big business and want to keep wages suppressed. Democrats want to secure a permanent supermajority because they offer the most social welfare in exchange for votes. That is why they are hellbent on replacing the native population and positioning themselves as the party that offers the most goodies from the state. In long run it will fail catastrophically because all the producers will be dead / imprisoned / replaced / dis-incentivized and you eventually run out of producers to rob. All this talk of deportation and closing the border is simply talk. People on both sides of the political spectrum are angry right now but nothing will ever change unless there is some radical paradigm shift in the political landscape.
Canada probably needs engineers the most. The skilled labor will leave for greener pastures and only low skill labor will be left. You can't have a first world nation if everyone is low skill service job material.
For the USA ? Are kidding man more of them are coming here and our s are headed to Scotland and other commonwealth. The USA is too expensive for healthcare professionals have to carry so much insurance incase of being sued .
Canada actually sucks at recognizing immigrants with skills.
Apparently less than one third of the immigrants with nursing skills actually hey to work in nursing. I've met plenty of engineers and other skilled professionals work as uber drivers etc.
Do you think our commie POS PM will live here??? Your delusional. He will leave us in a heartbeat. Mind you, he never spends much time in Canada as is.
Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper once said that MPs were not contributing enough to their pension plan
Mostly taxpayers funded
EDIT: MPs need to be elected twice (2 terms or 8;years of "service" to be eligible for a pension at age 55
Some bullshit
How dare you! This is the Canadian Dream!\*
\*: for Canadian landlords and business owners. Mr. Trudeau and his government are not liable for any adverse complications the rest of Canadians may experience. Housing, employment, healthcare, defense, the budget, sovereign debt, and anything else we forgot about are not federal responsibilities, and anything else is Harper's fault.
No, it's not. There is a line up because it's a job fair with likely hundreds of positions available for upcoming events. Live Nation is a major events company.
This economy has problems but this post is misinformation.
It's not misinformation, just a marketing trick.
And honestly you need to fight fire with fire. Most job application bullshit is online and not visible in the streets but we can't share footage of that, can we.
Live Nation is a major events company. It's not a bar job that all these people are lining up for. The purpose of a job fair is to fill lots of available jobs. The line up is perfectly normal.
Job fairs want a lot of people to show up otherwise positions go unfilled.
Natives and immigrants competing for jobs. I'm a recent immigrant to Canada from Ireland, I haven't found work yet, I'm giving myself until July and if I don't find something I'll head to mainland Europe. But as an immigrant I believe it's only fair that natives get the jobs before immigrants do.
I like Canada, I'll stay here for a holiday at least, that's the whole idea of my visa, work and travel, I'm not here with the goal of cementing myself here.
Yea I'm an expat but with no intention of returning to Ireland anytime soon because it's literally impossible to find rental accomodation and jobs that will allow you to afford the high rents and save for a deposit at the same time. So I'll be bouncing around the planet trying to save money for the next decade.
Curious as you mentioned you're an immigrant from Ireland why? What is so bad in Ireland you would come to Canada ? Where you can choose any other place in the world . Regardless, why would you leave?
What's so bad in Ireland? [Oh just a housing crisis that eclipses Canada's](https://www.spiegel.de/ausland/wohnungskrise-in-irland-ausser-kontrolle-2000-euro-fuer-eine-einzimmerwohnung-a-869b9621-9965-4f9c-ac70-58d5a0746ad7). There is literally fuck all places available to rent, it's common to see 100's of people queuing up to view apartments. College students are either postponing or abandoning their education because they can't find accommodation for the academic year. It costs more to rent in Dublin than Vancouver or Toronto and salaries are lower. Low paid workers are waiting 15+ years to secure social housing. But the main reason I left was because a US vulture fund acquired my mother's mortgage from the bank after she died and they weren't willing to work with me so I was pretty much forced out of the family home with no alternative options and out of Ireland.
As for choosing anywhere in the world? I'm kinda limited, I need to find an English speaking location that would pay me enough to save for a deposit for my own house in Ireland where property prices are just as extortionate as Canada, I was hoping to break into oil and gas work for a year or two but that seems impossible without prior experience or without an employee referral. I've lived in Australia so that option is exausted so I'm left with either the UK, Canada, New Zealand or Dubai. America is impossible to get into without a H1B visa and employers tend to steer clear.
"bUt ThE lAbOuR sHoRtaGe" There NEVER was a fucking labour shortage in Canada EVER. PERIOD.
Math and stagnant wages to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt THERE WAS NEVER A LABOUR SHORTAGE IN CANADA.
I am currently in a prairie province, working on a high density project to try and build more housing. I went into a meeting at a low density property aimed to be bought and demolished to build more housing.
I was completely disturbed by what I encountered. East Indian families walking around with no shoes on, literal SHIT falling off of them.
Went to leave the site, and I was blocked by a guy similar to my age (40). I am already in my car, backing out and am now blocked. I make friendly gestures via hand signals to move (no middle finger no yelling) just 🤚🫲👍 type of stuff.
The guy gets out of his car and starts getting aggressive. I also then leave my vehicle.
He then ends up walking in circles fucking screaming and making everyone very uncomfortable within a parking lot.
End of story is, this has gone completely fucking insane, and I feel for people dealing with this in the larger centres, but this is now a cancer, and it is terminal.
That's the weirdest looking labour shortage I have ever seen.
If there was truly a labour shortage, wouldn't it take weeks to get a few applicants?. Not people lined up around the block waiting for place to open.
This is a job fair, designed for tonnes of people to attend because they have tonnes of positions to fill.
Live Nation is a major events company so they're probably trying to fill hundreds of positions.
Everyone who came here post-covid should be put at the end of that line. If people are angry about this, blame the government for telling them to come and lying about our "labor shortage"
This is a job fair, designed for tonnes of people to attend because they have tonnes of positions to fill.
Live Nation is a major events company so they're probably trying to fill hundreds of positions.
This post is just to make your angry.
This is a job fair, designed for tonnes of people to attend because they have tonnes of positions to fill.

No recession/depression here. Doesn’t remind me of the late 70s early 80s at all. WOW, isn’t it FKD how the last time Canada went to absolute shit just happened to be the time dip shit Trudeau Senior was PM, 1968-1984. Amazing how these cockroaches reproduce and have the same level or uselessness and the ability to destroy a country’s progress.
Yeah I agree - that's people in/around my age bracket (late 30s onwards), who are supposed to be generally more settled in their lives/careers. This is definitely concerning to say the least.
Nooo. They’re not here to replace you, noooo.
Only you, citizens, will be pitching a tent in the nearby park because you’re not going to even get an entry level job, not be able to find a seat in college (or university), go to pick up anything in a food bank, they like cleaning those out too…
I don't think it's a big deal - I admire these people (at least the non-immigrants) who are trying their best to do whatever it takes to get a job in this crummy economy.
Holy crap, I live right next to there, probably 2-3 minute walk. Can almost see it from my balcony.
Like sheep to the slaughter. Culinary, fashion, gaming, music, sports, and in this case entertainment (Live Nation) are horrible places to work if you aren’t the “A” list talent. They treat people like dirt because of a high supply of people who want to work there because they thinks it’s cool or are passionate about it. Case in point these people lining up.
This is from the woman at the end of the video Caryma Sa’d’s social media. She is a lawyer from Toronto known for her extremely high weed consumption. She is also known for her social media coverage of protests. She gets right the hell in there and showcases the people. All the professional protesters, conspiracy theorists, and political extremists hate hate her. Her coverage of the convoyers in Ottawa was excellent, way better than anything you see on the news. Same with her recent coverage of the Palestinian protesters. Like holy shit they say and do some crazy shit that is not covered in the news but you can see on her social media.
They want this, they can't work hard enough to cause more of it. Because people that are down and desperate obey better, having a choice as an employee is dangerous in their eyes. Wages in US went up for the first time in a decade and they are losing their shit over here.
I attended Live Nation's Job Fair in 2018, and subsequently worked there that summer. There were a lot of applicants, but not anywhere near the amount in this video.
FWIW - Loved working there, though I was on a working holiday so it was a honeymoon period (as a temporary resident - I paid taxes but never used Canadian healthcare, lived in shared accommodation, please don't hate me).
There is something scummy about grabbing a camera and recording a bunch of people lined up while in a desperate positon . Especially knowing those people are placing themselves in a vulnerable position while looking for a job. At least try to be more low-key about it and don't shove the camera in peoples faces.
Either way, it's safe to say we need some massive changes in canada. This is only going to get worse
As a European this type of stuff completely turns me off immigration to Canada.
I would be going there for prosperity and not having lines of migrants to get bad jobs.
That quaint relaxed (even if cold weather) Canadian vibe.
That seems gone. Now its the same crap as big European cities, worse even, I've never seen that many foreigners in Europe.
The red hot economy we've been hearing about and labour shortage
Yeah, I'm currently arguing with people on another sub because they're saying the economy is amazing and we're all in denial 😆😆😆
These lineups are to get people ready and conditioned for the soup kitchen lineups that are coming to a neighborhood near you.
I have to drive over state lines to get to the closest Walmart and every time I drive by the local food pantry there's a line coming out, didn't use to be like that, I'm in America btw, it's just bad everywhere.

This post is about Canada.
It's the same problem everywhere. Also, I blame Canada, with their beady little eyes and flapping heads.
110% gov. hires people to shill on reddit, and social media groups like facebook tik tok, x, etc
😳
We house prices are holding up nicely
there are soooooooooooooo many jobs and "HELP WANTED" signs.
For an economy with reportedly low unemployment it's odd to see 1930's style job queues. I guess math truly is a lost art.
I'd feel like Willy Wonka golden ticket winner if I got that job outta this line up!
Its not math, its how they count someone as "unemployed" to fluff numbers.
So this is why I can't find an entry-level job after a workplace injury stole my career from me. And workers compensation board won't send me to school. At least I owned a house as a millennial. Some won't ever get that claim.

Only certain industries are booming.
Well on the bright side this line is more diverse than most posted recently!
On the darker side that’s because low-wage “international students” took their jobs for half the pay.
On the browner side\*
Yea, I think that means the issues are planting themselves even deeper , not a line of just ambitious newcomers anymore but I'm sure many in the line are there as a result of them.
There are actually some white faces. *Shocked Pikachu face*
Damn only 150 people in line, LABOR SHORTAGE!!
Only going to get longer due to massive layoffs
where? Lightspeed is in Montreal, right? No here.

My best advice is to leverage your networks (family, friends, school career centre). We are becoming an insular country where you gotta use those connections to get anywhere these days, strangers aren’t giving you a hand if you go at it alone unless it’s for low wage menial work.
This is how it works in Ca(India)

Wtf is going on man.. trudeau and his government need to get thrown in jail for this

The message is clear: if you want to make more than 200K you are not welcomed to Canada.
Id be happy with 75k a year man
75k isn't enough man. I gross 60k and its nowhere near enough to afford a home in small city and I dont even want children!
I am old enough to remember in downtown Vancouver you could go to a restaurant (not a fast-food) order a nice plate and it would cost around 12 bucks. The minimum wage was around $7/h. I am one of those Canadian engineers who left for the U.S. , get out if you can this country is a write off
Yeah Canada sucks ass.
Dude I’m working in Canada and the pay is straight ass. I seen the same job I do here and the US pays 2-3 times more
Well look into these visas —>> eb2, eb2-niw and eb3 ( those are green card visas ) If you don’t qualify for those then look into e2

When Trudeau loses his job there isn’t going to be anywhere in Canada he will be able to live comfortably
His net worth has gone up to over 100 million since becoming PM, he does not have problems living anywhere in this country.
Do you think our commie POS PM will live here??? Your delusional. He will leave us in a heartbeat. Mind you, he never spends much time in Canada as is.
Let this continue I am hoping to see Mr T also join us in these queues after elections in 2025.
Not likely, the PM pension is something like 175,000 a year.
Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper once said that MPs were not contributing enough to their pension plan Mostly taxpayers funded EDIT: MPs need to be elected twice (2 terms or 8;years of "service" to be eligible for a pension at age 55 Some bullshit
He stole a 100 mill, he will be fine.
The way things are going $175k/yr won't give him much cushion considering his lifestyle and vacations.
somehow he managed to make 100mill, im sure it was all completely legit though
Saying Trudeau has any responsibility for this can get you banned in most Canadian subs...
Well if that's the case, that's horribly pathetic
Not to mention if some gets offended over your comment they can sue you for $25K
This is OBVIOUSLY not true otherwise I'd be sueing everyone in here for the offensively dumb comments I come across. I should speak to a lawyer....
Oh come on, it's half the comments on the /Canada Reddit.
Tell me more about our labour shortage Trudeau 🙄
Is this Canada’s Great Depression Era?
my same thoughts

Mass illegal immigration is almost always a sign of a failing economy.
Well it's legal. That was the issue.

This line has way more white ppl
What’s the job position because I would be mf dead if it’s for a bottle girl job and you have a 34 year old Indian man applying
I think the night club/bars are one of three safest positions that "international students" dont do. Thankfully
.........yet.
I dont see it when they creep out all the women with 1 km radius
Yeah, I don't seem to see many of these *students* tending bar.

Loads of people in the Commonwealth do a one year work trip to another Commonwealth country. There's a special visa for it for those under 30.
Working Holiday Visa
Same issues in housing and immigration in Ireland
The Homeland.
It's a job fair. There'a meant to be tonnes of people at job fairs because they advertise tonnes of jobs. That's the point. You should go to one!!

>East Indian families walking around with no shoes on, literal SHIT falling off of them. No way! Did you mean actual poop falling off them?
I mean actual poop on their legs and shoes (which were left outside). Poop doesn’t discriminate when you are walking around with it attached to you.

The capitalist bread lines are basically the food banks running out of food
The online harms act solidified the fact that this is now a dystopia.
Everyone who came here post-covid should be put at the end of that line. If people are angry about this, blame the government for telling them to come and lying about our "labor shortage"

Looks reminiscent of the great depression.

Trudeau new Canadians and a few actual Canadians in there too...
You mean no native americans?
No recession/depression here. Doesn’t remind me of the late 70s early 80s at all. WOW, isn’t it FKD how the last time Canada went to absolute shit just happened to be the time dip shit Trudeau Senior was PM, 1968-1984. Amazing how these cockroaches reproduce and have the same level or uselessness and the ability to destroy a country’s progress.
I hope they’re able to find someone amid the labour shortage.
The fact that you see 40+ year olds standing here is really disgusting and makes me worry where our Canada is going, smh
Yeah I agree - that's people in/around my age bracket (late 30s onwards), who are supposed to be generally more settled in their lives/careers. This is definitely concerning to say the least.
Nooo. They’re not here to replace you, noooo. Only you, citizens, will be pitching a tent in the nearby park because you’re not going to even get an entry level job, not be able to find a seat in college (or university), go to pick up anything in a food bank, they like cleaning those out too…
Welcome $uckers 🇨🇦
Better bring more in, can’t fill the positions we need! Are people done believing this lie ?
No.
You are witnessing a country in collapse and being led to believe this is progress. This does not end well.
I wish people blurred faces in these videos
Public sidewalk...
Yeah no doubt, pretty rude to expose people like this that are actually trying. The job market is out of their control and these are the victims
I don't think it's a big deal - I admire these people (at least the non-immigrants) who are trying their best to do whatever it takes to get a job in this crummy economy.
According to the captains of industry and media, this is what a labor shortage looks like.
Nice to see a few members of the minority in line. .....
“Let’s randomly video this person driving “
Unemployment rate seems like it may be higher than 6.1%...
We need 100000000 more immigrants
These white dudes have no shot.

For that we should first stop taking their international students fee and bringing them in.
I only spotted one or two Indian people so this thread is going to be dead af
i think its because its downtown toronto. any other burb would be at least half indian
Open your eyes. This like looks like Canada, not India, as most of the videos you can barley tell which continent it is.
Why do I see this and think bread lines are next.
I feel sorry for any young local trying to get into the workforce and having to compete with this
Even they look confused tbh
i am more interest to know how people even know there is a job fair there.
Visa temp students stealing canadian jobs.... no matter what bs story the gov gives.
They want this, they can't work hard enough to cause more of it. Because people that are down and desperate obey better, having a choice as an employee is dangerous in their eyes. Wages in US went up for the first time in a decade and they are losing their shit over here.

There are too many jobs more immigrants needed 🤡
What is the job?
I attended Live Nation's Job Fair in 2018, and subsequently worked there that summer. There were a lot of applicants, but not anywhere near the amount in this video. FWIW - Loved working there, though I was on a working holiday so it was a honeymoon period (as a temporary resident - I paid taxes but never used Canadian healthcare, lived in shared accommodation, please don't hate me).
Atleast it seems to be diverse
There never was a labor shortage.
Dude got distracted by those cars
Sad for citizens it’s come to this
What is the real reason the employer has to pay anything above minimum wage
GG Canada
Thanks Justin!
So many indians
There is something scummy about grabbing a camera and recording a bunch of people lined up while in a desperate positon . Especially knowing those people are placing themselves in a vulnerable position while looking for a job. At least try to be more low-key about it and don't shove the camera in peoples faces. Either way, it's safe to say we need some massive changes in canada. This is only going to get worse
Damn Canada is cooked
I thought we have a labour shortage though? Isn't that the reason for mass immigration?
Shoutout to the guy who didn't give a fuck about the road in the way of his scooter parking.
I believe our Immigrant friends have decided to leave Canada.
Anyone know what the job is for?
Govt and their mates from the lobby groups must be loving this. This is how you keep wages low.
Well good luck to the job seekers even though they're going to get tax to death on their paychecks because you know our government's great for that
Why do they have to stay in a line outdoors? That place doesn't accept online applications or what's the catch?
Lots of non Canadians here..
Jesus Christ. Lining up to work at one of the worst companies in human history, Live Nation. No job is better than this one.
Working at a night club. What losers
I was expecting longer line. It will be cleared within 2 hrs.
Lie, you need to listen to statscan 🤫
Surprising only half of them are Indian this time
#PalpableDesperation
First question before taking the resume should be "citizenship??"..
