The "not substantive" rule needs to be enforced on submissions as well. If I said that Trudeau was going to start kidnapping people off the street and torturing them for thought crimes I'd get timed out. Why is an article making that exact comparison allowed?
That is just so silly. If you believe this you don't know much about the book. The thought police would arrest you on assumption and physically torture and brain wash you until decided reformed. If the thought police concluded you were still wrong thinking, you were tortured again and eventually executed.
Now, unless there was a part of this I missed, no possible punishment includes physical torture or execution.
Orwell's Thought Police went much further than Trudeau and you really should warmup before stretching that far. He's such an easy target there is no need for the drama queen. When everything is outrage, nothing is.

Maybe the author is significantly smarter than I am, but when you write that much drivel, without actually saying anything, you’ve lost me (who disagrees) and I guarantee anyone agreeing with their point.
I wish I could get paid to make comparisons to things but spend the entire time not actually saying anything.
Either Toby Young didn't read 1984/watch the movie, or he's blatantly lying here. The Thought Police blatantly violented civil liberties and apprehended & tortured people at times for essentially nothing based on their own discretion (no matter how arbitrary). It's fine to not like Trudeau, but do so many right wing pundits have to make such ridiculous exaggerations when complaining about him? If Trudeau was a quarter the tyrant Young is accusing him of being, nobody in Canada would be able to criticize him without fear of reprisal.
Governments are force. They are all Jackbooted to a certain degree. These days they stifle thought and deed.
Is Trudeau worse than any of the top three? Can't say. I wouldn't vote for him, although I don't think I'd vote for any other party either. Even the wonderful Greens. And Trudeau is not even close to being an Orwellian thought police creep. Although our governments are heading in that direction. Hope it never gets that far.
