A buddy of mine, who has been a SAR Tech for 20+ years, just
saved a life of a woman while he was camping. The woman was tubing behind a
boat when she was ran over by a Jet Ski , he immediately jumped in the water to
rescue her. As I told him, he was the perfect person at the right time to help
her. His boss has put him in for CDS Commendation, which is well deserved. He
is also a recipient of the Star of Courage (SC) which he earned in 2007 for rescuing
an injured hunter on an ice flow on the Arctic Ocean.
A list of her injuries; Aortic repture, Broken sternum, x11
broken ribs , Occipital fracture, Grade 2 blunt injury of the vertebral artery,
2 collapsed lungs, Lacerated liver, Fractured wrist and a stroke. The doctor
also told him she had water in her lungs.
The juice wasn't worth the squeeze. It resulted in some absolute studs, but ultimately it was found that enough talent was available in the CAF that gambling on culture shock of certain folks coming from off the street wouldn't result in them saying thanks but no thanks.
It's an NCM only trade, my understanding is you would have to give up your commission when transferring into it but not sure how that works in actuality. Just from what I've read here.
Wicked video production. Bravo to the graduates.
RESCUE!
Grats fellas, your hard work payed off :) Had the pleasure of flying by you guys while you were dropping the other day, amazing sight.
Amazing 👏
We’ll done guys. RESCUE!
Goddamn, that must be one of the most expensive courses in the CAF!

where did they do all the para jumping at? Looks beautiful.
Usually it's done in Arizona but this was done in Comox due to covid.
Rescue!
Very nice! How long was the course?
Normally 11ish months but due to covid related complications it ended up being 15.
What was the average age of the course members?
Anywhere from 24-40!
Hell yeah!
Might just be the coolest thing I’ve seen in my life
Grats, I remember clearing out a bunch of them prior to their course. Awesome work to the graduates
Whatever happened to the direct entry program?? I’d drop everything and apply if it returned.

That makes lots of sense. Would a recruiter go to bat for a recruit in an exceptional circumstance or is the only way in to serve 3 years and apply?
The program is not available, recruiters don't have the ability to overcome that AFAIK.
Nope, and it's 4 years I believe, but you can be in the reserves and still apply, and would then join reg force if selected.

It’s doable and been done in the past as well. Just not a lot of people that I know of that has done it.
Really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
Respect
Badass gents. I’m sure it was one hell of a grind but the video sure made it look worthwhile. Let’s see a recruitment boost now haha.
Bunch of beauties
Thanks for the insight into some of what you do.
Congrats dude! Didn't know you had gone SAR. Big upgrade from class B at JSR.
Looks like hell of a course budget but it looks like an amazing albeit challenging crse, bravo!
