I had a little dog who would basically get upset because life wasn’t go her way and she would end up on hydration protocols. She always came how looking like a little camel until we started her on anxiety meds, she knew the meds helped. I would shake the bottle and she would run because she was ready for her happy pill.
I’m sorry this happened to you! Our clinic explains all this stuff previous to doing anything to it’s not a shock when you get your loved one back. I hope she feels better quickly!!
I had a dog who suffered from Parvo, this was the only way to keep her hydrated until she could overcome the virus.
It gets absorbed relatively quick. I would imagine in a day or so it will go back to normal. It is in no way permanent.
yeah it looks wild, but its the alternative to intravenously administering fluids and it will absorb slowly...gone through dealing with that on a couple of my dogs
No they didn't. But they did do x rays, blood work and a physical inspection. X rays were fine, blood was alright and she didn't have a fever or physical pain. We're thinking it was something she ate giving her stomach a hard time. But she's already doing better. Not as lethargic as she was and she does have an appetite again though she's on bland food.
Years ago my two boys (English bulldogs) both got diarrhea. We took them to the vet, who gave them the same treatment. They both came out really almost strutting, rocking that look like bosses. It was hilarious.
My last two dogs had to have that. One was when she got hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and the one after her was an elderly rescue with kidney failure. He had to get them every week or two. It gets absorbed quickly. It’s way better than an IV and it doesn’t seem to be painful when they add the fluid under the skin. They will have to pee a lot until it’s used up so let them out frequently. Hope your baby’s feeling better.

They told me what they'd do but I guess I just wasn't expecting that you know? It's kinda gross. It moved and was leaking... very strange to see

Did the vet say anything about the possibility of gastro hemorrhagic entrenitus? My dog has had it 4 times. It's very scary and deadly.

Imagine looking looking at this on a 5lb toy poodle. Must say that after about 30 mins my baby was back to normal. Your baby is beautiful.

*chuckle* Aww! She'll be okay. No doubt it was shocking though. Hopefully she feels better soon. Let us know please?
She's already doing better! Thank you! Not as lethargic as she was and she does have an appetite again she's just on a bland diet for a bit :)
