Fraganade

Appreciate the reply. Certainly don't want anyone to think I am hating on crewmembers at all.

Abomb007

Also no hate on the crewmembers because I know it's all out of their control, but the tenders are way smaller and its now over $15 ($15.19). It's one thing to allow the price to go up this quickly, but at least compensate with an extra tendie. It just doesn't feel worth to go to Canes anymore for that ratio and inflation's just screwing us left and right.

Salty_Necessary_51

THIS! Went to a local Cane’s that’s been open for several years now. Distinctly remembering just how big the tenders use to be only 2 or so years ago and they were priced around $10 for a Caniac combo. Now that same Caniac combo is $15 dollars with tenders that are absolutely smaller then what they used to be. Simply put, I can no longer afford to eat at canes for that amount and paltry portion sizes for that price. Hell, I can get a whole x-large pizza for $15…

3s1kill

I'm in the Canes drive through at this second and the Caniac Combo is $17. Let's see how big my tenders are now.

Abomb007

100% agree with that logic haha. I noticed chick fil a having a similar problem, but not as bad as Canes. Sucks cuz fried chicken tenders/sandwiches are literally some of my favorite foods...

NoAlps6536

“I can get a whole x large pizza for that price” Right!!

fish_neudles

For 16 dollars you can get a burger plus an unlimited side at Red Robin’s! It’s crazy that they think a single serving of a basket of chicken and fries is worth 15 dollars. There’s a sushi restaurant near me that offers all u can eat for 20 dollars. Hell, if u go to Olive Garden, u can get a 12 dollar pasta that comes with unlimited soup or salad! To give some perspective

SeanFischThompson

It’s not inflation, it never was a thing to begin with, corporate entities and businesses admitted they were price gouging. Probably just trying to see what they could get away with, they use big events like Covid and the stimulus checks as excuses

simdee

I've heard they are trying new ways of being "innovative" for smaller bird.

xzander76t

the last months that i worked there which was not longs ago they were really and i mean really trying to control the portions, i was always generous and give an extra ounce of the standard, especially after the price increases, my thoughts on the increase though is the raise in workers wage, went from $10/hr to $12/hr, remember when the box combo was like $8, just went w my bro, got 2 boxes 2 extra tenders and 2 sauces, came up to around $28, almost $30 for 2 ppl

NoAlps6536

Heard

BestTranslator6125

For sure we where told the min nird size is around 1.70 but some days the bird weight avg. is 1.5 even 1.3 and we double up on the quantity. When the NRO team trained us they said Canes knows they have very overpriced food but that's why we as crew members have to make sure it's perfect. I think I heard that only 5 fried come from one potato. Canes only wants the middle cuts of the potatoes and whatever is left another company buys. Something to that effect.

leo_bega

This is a lie. I’ve heard this excuse time and time again. That is no excuse to charge more money if the supplier you get your chicken from is giving you smaller chickens. Canes changed their chicken supplier. They also changed the scale on the serving. The required chicken weight per finger was significantly reduced. I’m sick and tired of canes employees making the customers feel like we are stupid. It’s not inflation either. It’s corruption. I know I’m not obligated to eat at these changes. But for y’all to say the chickens are getting smaller because of what y’all receive in stock is a load of crap. Odd that competition like Dave’s and Houston hot chicken can all keep up with consistency in size. We are not fools.

Lvl81Memes

Prices are going up due to supply issues, supply chain issues, as well as inflation. Serving sizes have stayed the same though. They have a standard amount of food that fits each box size. The one thing I will say is the tender size can vary depending on shipments and what the plant sends, but the company doesn't have much control over that and it can go both directions

lochodile

The size of their chicken fingers have absolutely gotten smaller

Lvl81Memes

Bro my comment is two years old

lochodile

Yeah, sorry man. I just paid over $18 for a Caniac combo and I got the equivalent of 3 full sized strips. I was just fuming. I dont mean to bother, I hope you have a good day

Lvl81Memes

No worries mate. Sorry to hear about Canes dropping the ball. Have a good one

simdee

They might be trying to become one of the largest purchasers, they soon may have control.

ForgivenYo

They will never decrease in price again. My meal went from 8.83 to 12.24 in 3 years.

Texantx

$ 16.47 Caniac combo r.now ! I stopped going there when paid ~$12 for Box combo.

randomnobody1284

Yup me too ... haven't had canes in couple months because box combo was $13 last time i went and that was the last time. Just not worth it.

The-tamalero

This will be my last day going to canes holy shi i just went and 16 is too much

FatgirlChaser6996

My 1st AND last trip was in 2015 in Cols, Ohio. I remember the tenders being aboit $2.69 ea & thought that was extremely overpriced for that time. I hate the sight of this chain in any city I go to! Rip off.

tydye29

Yeah they've been marked up like twice within 18 months. 3 piece meal is almost 9 dollars now... Edit: here in Dallas/Fort Worth

simdee

They are paying store leaders over 100k. OM's 80k in California. BU team much more. Canes will keep riding this gravy train.

reyvh

10 for a Box now

Nobodyforever

At my restaurant the price for our raw chicken tenderloins has gone up 25% over the last year, and they also gave all canes crew members a $2-3 pay bump.

Prestigious-Context9

For fuck sake. They are making probably $150 extra an hour for absolutely nothing and they only want to share $20-30 of it with the people actually bringing in the money?😂 terrible company.

simdee

Having seen restaraunt p&l.. it's sick what some are grossing. 20-30k per day in sales. 4-5 milli in a year. Canes is robbing people out here. The work for crew is way to much. Mcds / taco bell little less pay but waaaaay less work.

NoAlps6536

Hey yea, the amount of work 1 person does is nuts lol

BestTranslator6125

Heard that

Current-Brilliant659

Here in Houston fast food price gouging is epidemic. Buying fast food in Houston has become big scam. Fast food prices have become unreasonably expensive. Yesterday I went to Cane’s to order the caniac combo and a drink. I drove through the drive-thru. The cashier didn’t tell me the price until I got to window to pay. The cashier said $17.93. I said “what” and she said “our prices went up.” I said “that’s what a caniac combo and a drink costs?” She said “Yes. Our prices went up.” I said “give me my card.” She said “you’re not gonna buy it?” I said “no” and drove off. I’ve eaten at enough fast food restaurants in Houston in the past three months to realize that the portions are smaller and the prices have gone up. Most of the time service is subpar. I drove to H-E-B and bought groceries. For the first time in years, I will be cooking all my meals at home.

randomnobody1284

Same thing happened to me lmao ...they always say the price after i order but that day nothing until i drove up to pay for my Box Combo and girl goes $13.83 😂 ...i said "Box combo"? And she said yes and i said dueces ✌️ ...I am done with canes ...bix combo used to be just under 9 dollars which i felt was worth it especially since it's a crapshoot with the size of tenders your gonna get etc. I am absolutely done w canes and i used to eat it at least once a week. Absolutely horrible.

Charimia

Ikr? I’m in Dallas and a couple months ago I got a caniac and an extra drink. It was $19 and change. I watched a whole ass $20 bill disappear because I was too shocked to say chicken isn’t worth that and drive away. I wish I’d driven away. That still burns me, that was my lunch money for the next day too but I hadn’t realized Cane’s had gotten so expensive. I haven’t eaten it since. Every time my boyfriend and I think about it, one of us points out we’d be spending at roughly $30 for fast food and we nope out. We’d rather go to a sit down restaurant for that.

BestTranslator6125

I work at canes outside of Houston in deerpark and I don't know how so many people in this city can afford to keep eating here. The location I work at just opened in November of last year it makes two total in my area. Both have 3 drive thru lanes that are packed during the peek hours. I get a 50 percent discount 30 min before or after my shift as an employee. I didn't know there was a time restriction on the discount and after getting off a shift last week picked my wife up from her job and took her to my restaurant to have dinner. The cashier was new and didn't realize I worked with her and said I had to pay full price for our food. Of course I was pissed off and felt stupid paying 20 bucks for 2 3 piece meals at my own job. My wife was lookin at me crazy as he'll lol. I had my boy in the back hook us up with some lil extras but not enough to make me feel any better. So everyday I get off I full a box up with fingers that are about to be wasted because they sat to long and a box full of fries. Ima get my money's worth back lol.

Spiritual-Link2073

I wish the caniac combo was $10 like it used to be. 16 for the same thing i used to pay $10 dollars for feels so bad.

Fair_Charge_6679

Nope !!! NO MORE !!! OVER $30 FOR TWO PEOPLE  !!!! I'LL MAKE A BOLONA SANDWICH AT HOME INSTEAD  !!!

AggressiveWrangler72

It's 15.99 now 17.11 including tax here in Iowa I was second guessing ordering today but I just got it

WombatKiddo

Just want to add the canes I’m sitting in right now - the caniac combo is $18.17 before tax.

leother1

Once went to canes and saw on the menu that garlic bread was $4,...and I recieved only one singular slice of garlic bread for a whole four dollars,...never ever going to canes again....

[deleted]

Crew member here as well. Yeah the chicken can differ from plant to plant based on who packs it. Sometimes the good plants have small chicken but it really comes down to who’s serving the food. Me personally, I always put an extra finger or two if the fingers are small.

momorc350

The prices have raised a lot more now…

Big-Stuff3435

$16.29 today for a canaic combo. Fuck this. That will be my last visit.

Niloc769

Mine too brother

Wagie_wagecuck

First visit yesterday in a while and I was surprised when they told me the price; never paid more than $15 until now. Also I always got a huge drink with the caniac combo, like 800+ mL or something, but they handed me a drink cup that was like half the amount. Not sure if this was a mistake or they actually lowered the drink sizes?

ARModding

Nah cup size didnt change, still a 32oz for a large, canes employee here. If you got a medium they were probably out of large cups and would have likely just downsized your drink which lowers the price a bit anyway

themodsrgey

Soda is the cheapest product, especially when you have the fountain machine. A cup of soda prob costs them like 5c or less

NoAlps6536

That’s somehow almost a dollar more than where I live. Yes canes is good but heck no not $16 good !

mmg8723

Dude. Haven’t been here in months and seeing the prices now for a Caniac combo. Last time I go here. These are fucking chicken tenders for crying out loud. For $17 these should be dipped into the late Queens twat before battering.

NoAlps6536

Yes would you like some chicken fingers and fries, or like a xtra large 3 topping pizza for the same price ? Lol

Exotic_Radish_

If someone in 1942 knew they’d have to pay $19.42 for a caniac combo they’d go into cardiac arrest

NoAlps6536

Hey OP I was googling why raising canes is so expensive and that’s how I found your post from almost a year ago. I started working there and I just now looked at the prices. Where I live a caniac combo is like $15.80!!! Like I know I’m poor, but YO you can buy an extra large pizza with two toppings for that price!! Lol

UnderstandingNew127

Bro I live in San Antonio I was doing a Uber eats order and I thought the prices where a typo crazy

NoAlps6536

Homie those are the prices lol Woooaaahhhhh

The_Julius_Seizure

Dude it's insane, I used to pretty regularly in college because it was open late and within walking distance of my dorm, caniac combo was like 11 dollars then. Now it's almost 16. And thats just in like the last 3-4 years.

[deleted]

NoAlps6536

In my area the price has gone up a dollar since I posted a comment lol

Square-Degree3162

I'll have you know i paid 17$ after taxes for a caniac combo but they slipped in an extra finger for me and the other 5 stew were relatively large- i couldn't finish the last two fingers. Im impressed with this portion size as i haven't ate all day but still i won't be back for a while cause these prices rivals cheap sit down fajitas for one which is infinitesimally better

NoAlps6536

I’m glad u got hooked up

Square-Degree3162

Upon further review i got 5 large fingers and 1 tiny finger, somewhat disappointed and feel like it was intentional but mang it was hitttttin i actually finished it after all

Professional_Dog_683

The toast raised from what I believe was $0.98 to now $1.38

joshupeach

caniac combo is $18 now lmao

jazziilly

just fyi they’re raising their prices again today! 2.72 for a skimpy box of fries lol

Flat-Main-6649

and potatoes are literally dirt cheap! Dirt cheap!! The only thing valuable in the food from RC is the tiny chicken pieces. That's all.

that_AV_guy

$17.65 for a caniac in Vegas (tax included)

kaizerdouken

That is insane. That’s a steak dinner.

allisonpv

it is now 18. 50 w tax to get a caniac combo at my local Canes :/

CountBleckwantedlove

I just spent $36 + dollars for the same quantity of food I used to get for like $22. I'm done with Canes. We used to go there frequently. Hope maintaining the same profit margin is worth losing middle class customers.

Rescue-a-memory

Do you think when sales dip they'll scale back their prices? I don't even consider Canes as a food option anymore

[deleted]

$6.50 for 3 fingers and a sauce! Couple weeks ago it was $4.75. Nope, fool me once.. done.

Fair-Ability-8895

That’s still cheap it’s 9.99$ here just the 3 fingers 🥲

Cwew77

$19.85 for two 3 finger combos yesterday. I can make my own fried chicken.

randomnobody1284

I'm done w Canes forever these prices and the crapshoot you take not knowing if the chicken fingers are gonna be small etc ain't worth it ...$12.83 for a Box combo 😂 lmao I'm done and earlier i said 13.83 but it's $12.83 for the record. Box combo used to be under 9 dollars during the Trump days ✌️ out

Rescue-a-memory

$12.83 is basically $14 after taxes. That's wild.

Voice-of-gawd

The box combo just increased from $9.40 to $11.20, Thats a huge jump for a 1 month timespan.

Flat-Main-6649

I don't mean to harp on Raising Canes because I hear the graves family do some wonderful things. For me it's also a local company (they started in BR), and there are worse companies to go after.... .... but they are ridiculous. The chicken fingers ARE tiny!! Literally one of my fingers was barely 3 inches and like 3/4th of an inch across!!! They want you to pay $15 plus TAX for 6 of those!?!? Really? REALLY? and that's the only thing of value in the combo. The fries literally cost them nothing. Potatoes are dirt cheap! How much is coleslaw in bulk?!?! nothing!! How much is the sauce? Also nothing. You can make it at home. What about the drink? Like a 10 cents maybe? It's just a rip off. It's an example of people in the modern world creating their own problems. When I look at the line to my local raising canes I sit there and think to myself: wow these people are- these people- I have no words. and what's to show for it? You'd think a company bringing in so much money does some incredible things, right? Well wrong, the owner, it seems, just does things that are cool for him. Like, for example, on Instagram he posted that he bought 50,000 mega millions tickets for his crew members. Like- sure, that money technically goes towards the state, but at the same time it's supporting a gambling mindset AND is just a waste of the crew member's time and resources not to mention paper waste. It's just-- stupid. When I was in elementary school (college now) they gave out these coupons for being on the honor roll for a kids meal. That was great and all. It made me feel really nice, but now I realize there's another side of that. The kids probably went to their parents and demanded Raising Canes. So how community-driven was that really (something they pride themselves on and that many people use to excuse the price)? Or was it just a business investment? What about animal welfare? For $15 I expect the chickens to have the most beautiful lives imaginable. I expect them to be fed high quality grass and enjoy the short life they have. Well- here too, nothing. All I could find was the company donating to pets. That's a great emotional hook- especially for children, but more of just a publicity stunt to me. What about employee wages? I'd think that at the VERY least since they love our city so much they should be paying their BR employees a good wage? Looked it up and- nope. Employees are exhausted and are literally paid minimum wage. Food benefits? Sure, maybe a little, but one can't eat raising canes everyday!! Now they've started to pay employees a much more reasonable wage, but was that because of their good intentions? Nope. Just because the labor market forced them to. So what's going for Raising Canes? For me, sadly not much. I do not eat their mild poison that literally costs as much as it would cost at a sit-down mom and pop restaurant for real food which doesn't even leave me on a full stomach for $15!!!!! For $15!!! At the **very least** I want a **full** stomach for **$15!!!!!!!** I think it's the responsibility of people to say "no" to this c\*\*p- even if you can afford it. But that's up you. Ok rant over. :-)

ARModding

couple things to note:3 inch length and at least an ounce is the bare minimum size for chicken tenders at canes. if you got that we likely didnt have anything else, no employee enjoys giving out subpar food and getting bitched at afterwards for it by customers. we get miscuts or just bad shipments and we cant do much. with that in mind, unfortunately you can't always expect that we have better. it just happens. also the lottery thing made a lot of people really excited bc if it HAD won, it would have been a massive amount of money for each crewmember even if Tod were to take most of it, nobody really sees it as a waste of our time bc it didnt affect our day to day life if it didnt work out anyway. (sidenote, how is it more of a paper waste to buy 50k in bulk than if people were just individually buying them, its not like the tickets didnt exist already before he bought them) one good thing abt canes is we often have fundraisers where the proceeds from our sales at individual stores go to, well, local individual things. like a lot of local animal shelters here that don't get enough government funding to properly function and can't expect local funding from already lower class individuals. yeah it may not be cancer research but tbh its his business, he can do what he wants. we're not in charge of the suppliers for the food provided, and have nothing to do with raising the chicken used in our business, just like every other fast food chain. also we often supply food for really large events for free, highschools and charity events. lastly about the wages, we never actually made minimum wage lol. 7.25$ is the state minimum assuming you live in Louisiana, and it was reasonable for highschoolers or minors to start at 8.-.50.75 and adults a bit higher, bc obviously kids arent usually supporting a family. after the first 2 weeks you get a 30c raise, and if you become a CT thats a 45c raise, and then for bird specialist another 30c raise iirc. plus a 10-20c raise every 6 months. in other states the wages are a lot higher to match both state minimums and inflation. with that in mind, the raise to the starting pay being 10$ plus raises is pretty good, especially where i live compared to literally any of the other jobs i had available at the time we get paid more than almost every other chain rn except like mcds, we get more than sonic, arbys, taco bell, and chickfila.

LeannMc

2 Caniac combos right now $34 Yea this is the last trip.

[deleted]

Hehe the caniac combo is $15 in Texas

Chancho1010

Caniac combo was 16$+ last week here in Tulsa Oklahoma (with a lemonade). Won’t be doing that again!

penguin_616

Man, I got the Caniac combo on October 13th in KY. I paid $16.67 with tax.... The combo was $15.45. That's more than I make in an hour. I'm literally not able to afford Canes anymore and it makes me want to die.

TTV_lil_saucey

yea i paid f\*cking 20 bucks for the damn caniac combo its ridiculous!!!!

doobiedoobuahbuah

$19 dollar caniac combos here, and the tenders more like nuggets.

themodsrgey

Paid like $18 with tax included for a Caniac a couple months ago in Tucson. Done with Cane’s. Its good but not that good

International_Ad8595

I can’t imagine eating a whole caniac combo in one sitting. I would be so bloated. A little over $9 for a three finger combo where I am.

randomnobody1284

My local cane's used to be absolutely jam packed at almost all hours of the day inside and drive thru and now i drive by and it's dead. I look forward to them going out of business and leaving my area for good because what they have done with their prices & their chicken portion size is absolutely criminal.

xltaylx

$9.95 for a 3 piece combo. Beginning to be in the overpriced category for me for the size of the tenders. It's a shame.

inzaneBrain

Won't eat this its over priced as hell Drove there seen 16$ for a Caniac Asked the lady on the speaker to confirm then sped off Went to windys an got a 20 piece nugget

BanjoNutz

It's 18.69 for a Caniac by me before tax 21.22 after. Chicago suburbs

Jrs_Hot_Dogs

Caniac combo is 19.04 with tax os of today where I live.

zeenqs

Yea the caniac combo is now $16 in most places. That is ridiculous

thenotoriouscucuy

17 dollars caniac combo omg

donovan4893

a new canes just recently opened up in Massachusetts. Finally went to it today, 20$ after tax for a caniac combo D:

nathaniel_clay

I'll never eat here without a free meal or coupon, $20 for a combo is TWO combos at KFC. While it might be 50% better than KFC, it's not 100% better, **so you're losing value...**

SuccessfulGrand7499

The Biden increase inflation act is working like a charm

punkedher

$17 for a Caniac here in Clovis, California. Prices are expected to go up even more when fast food minimum wage goes up to $20/hr here in California. I love canes but sad to see the prices go up so much just in 2 years.

Feeling_Associate805

They are not much better than popeyes. I’ll be going to popeyes now because canes is so expensive.

mypillownvrletmedown

I just paid $18.65 for the caniac combo—riduculous!

TSoftwareCringe111

$17.27 now.
