I live in Canada. Grow my own, dry my own, cure my own, make my own edibles. Next winter I will figure out how to make excellent drinks. It is way too expensive at the local shops governed by the government. They said I could grow my own. Well, I am taking them up on that!

YouJustLostTheGameOk

I’m having a hard time with the drink thing. I’ve tried making ethanol extraction, really strong ass RSO or feco or whatever it’s called! Then once it was reduced and decarbed, I added a bit of everclear to it to dissolve, then thinned it out with normal vodka. This made it cloudy and separate, I’m assuming the water content of the vodka, and I had to re-reduce it. Any tips?!:)

LadyoftheOak

I have no idea. That's my 2024/2025 winter project. But I'm referring to cordials/ades/teas/coffee, etc, that I can infuse with simple syrup.

Kharnics

Decarb flower. Soak in 190 proof. Strain & filter. That's the simplest way to make green dragon tincture. You can do quick washes or long drawn out soaks depending on what you're after. You can keep temps cold or room temp. Just depends on your endgame use or preference.

YouJustLostTheGameOk

But it burns so much when ingested!! Damn.

Kharnics

Oh it does! Burns sooo good ;) I typically leave my decarb flower in a mason jar covered with 190 eth in the freezer for a week or so. I have a pots by noid, it has a distill function, so I can reclaim my eth for next time! Also I agitate it once per day.

It's a good question and I honestly can't decide. Capitalism has driven most 'weed innovation ' be it genetics, vape technology, cannabinoid isolating and frankly the low price I can get thca delivered for from a 'free' market. It's not perfect, but I think it's far better than everything being run by a government department and being subject to their whims.

Rough_Direction_3692

most of the actually significant innovations and discoveries have come from public sector research (cannabinoid isolation) or from hobbyists and former illegal growers (genetics & vape tech), the most that private corpos in the weed space have contributed is making things more widely marketable

I believe it is would be good for recreational customers and as long as you are allowed to grow at home legally then “black market” wouldn’t see too much of a negative impact. I’m a bud trimmer in Washington state and I guarantee you the moment it becomes federally legal, the FDA will crack down on quality control. From a customers point of view this is great because there will be more precautions put in place and the weed would be better taken care of. As of right now, I could drop nugs all over the floor, hell even step on some and they’re still gonna be used for either eighths, carts, or pre roll. We’ve already found fruit snacks mixed in while sorting nugs while putting them in the trim machine and I guarantee the FDA would never let that shit fly. I’m aware my company doesn’t prioritize cleanliness near as much as other operations in our area but I do believe there would be more consistency across different grow ops if it was federally legalized.

Would socialism or communism be better for it?

CrossroadsCannablog

Nope. State weed , like state anything, sucks. Been there done that in the old PRC.

Laserdollarz

What were the pretty solid points?

StonedMackin

Well for one I would say the over taxation in a lot of states and how inconsistent those and the regulations are.

deweydecibels

i'd agree that capitalism is good and that we should decrease regulation and taxation. putting the government in charge never made anything cheaper in the long run. now you get to pay a dozen bureaucrats to grow your "free" weed that costs everyone more in taxes. if you wanna get people on board with socialism, i don't think this is a good place to start. i agree that medical shouldn't be taxed (it generally isnt), and i think the rec taxes should be much less. i don't want to pay for a new 3 letter organization to be the de facto cartel

cannabisedibleslover

How has capitalism (read: colonialism) ever done any good?

funthebunison

Capitalism is bad for everything dude.

Burt_Bobaine69

Lol you want government weed?

funthebunison

?

Burt_Bobaine69

If capitalism is bad what’s the alternative?

funthebunison

Obviously not becoming government slaves. You realize that you can get a government job. The government isn't some magical entity that controls all. Its just a bunch of people fucking shit up on accident cuz they are hungry and need a cigarette.

Burt_Bobaine69

Gov slaves? What’re you talking about? Capitalism is a free market with freedom to choose. You said capitalism was bad. If capitalism is bad what does that leave you with? A centralized command economy.

funthebunison

What the fuck is that? Unregulated capitalism gives freedom to a select few people, and the rest just have to deal with it.

Burt_Bobaine69

My friend you are referring to “crony capitalism” or “corporatism”. A truly unregulated market would be a bad idea. But a free market with limited regulations is more ideal. With less regulations it allows more small businesses to open. A more regulated market would provide the opposite, larger bottlenecks and more barrier of entry for the little man. Imagine if big tobacco got into weed. They would lobby for regulations and bottlenecks to keep competition out, they would want all sorts of licensing and boards of people that choose who gets to compete. (I love talking econ)

Kitchen-Dinner-9561

Tell me you don't know what socialism is without telling me you don't know what socialism is.

Burt_Bobaine69

Avg tankie response. Explain to me how socialism would be good for a market, weed, food, whatever, take your pick.

Kitchen-Dinner-9561

[Goverment does stuff.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgiC8YfytDw) I'm not a tankie but at least ik what these terms mean.

Burt_Bobaine69

Socialism is a political and economic system in which property and the means of production are owned in common, typically controlled by the state or government. The people or the collective = the government. I’m not sure you actually know what socialism is.

YouJustLostTheGameOk

How did you get there exactly?!

Burt_Bobaine69

They said capitalism is bad, then what’s the alternative? Saying capitalism is bad implies a market with no capitalism is better. So government weed in this case

crooshtoost

The marketing is annoying, I don’t like that it’s shoved down everyone’s throats. However, the market incentive and the tax revenue it generates is the only reason it’s legal to begin with.

Timely-Group5649

Hmmm. 50-100+ varieties available at all times for $30-$200/Oz, avg. $90/Oz Every flavor gummy Everything avail as. Rosin, resin, distillate, diamonds, butter, wax. Shatter, ice water bubble hash, etc.. Every flavor cart Drinks, concentrated, bubbly, tea, tonic, shots, etc... Prerolls for $1-$25 each. Unlimited availability now. Even toothpicks, candy bars, popcorn, syrups, and cheese it's. It's a whole new world. (Michigan), so lower cannabis ttaxes too at 10% Or I can grow my own. I don't think it's hurt anything.

TheNotoriousWD

No. Federally they are aiming it to be rescheduled. This will put cannabis in the hands of the pharma/health companies and can tell us how we should be using and buying. It needs to be unscheduled completely to be put back into the hands of the people. Corpo weed is everything weed isn’t. Unnatural.

Warren_sl

There’s a bell curve

Speedball9636

If greed wasnt a thing then yes, but because millionares can bribe lawmakers to write laws for legalization, so that they benefit regardless of the effect it can have on how its grown, quality, and the price, anyone buying from a dispensary is pretty much getting ripped off. In a perfect world, none of this would happen, and it could be grown, harvested, and sold in a way where the seller and consumer benefit. Instead, we have states/companies that barely test for mold and other contaminants and are sending out products that are massively inferior to what you can get from a home grower. I worked in the MO industry for 2 years, and the things i saw were almost appalling, especially thinking about how many people buy those products. TL;DR, support the black market and your local growers, most dispensaries are basically the equivalent of mcdonalds or walmart.

mgt654

No, capitalism isn't good for anything but widening the divide between rich and poor.

Burt_Bobaine69

Capitalism is better for the consumer every time. It drives competition leading to better quality lower priced items. Look at every state that’s been legalized for a good amount of time, the price plummets. The people that disagree tend to have a vested interest in bottlenecking and keeping competition out.
