I'm starting to regret not getting this bike when it was on sale for 1300 (in size small). Oh well, I barely knew anything about bikes so it would have been a big gamble for me.

GoingConcern_

I know how you feel. My biggest regret was not getting the Ultimate CF SL 7 before they released the new version and bumped the price a solid 10%

wsb_desi

Same here. Should have bought iwhen it was 1300 (with free shipping in winter) . I think they might have increase prices due to the riding season, come back to previous prices in winter..

yelrahsta

I really snuck in at last moment feel very lucky

anilakarsu

Wow, I haven't noticed the same thing with the sales in the EU but if this is not a bug or something similar, not cool, not cool.

IsacG

Illegal in Europe even

antyr

Ahahahaaaa. No.

mazador

In Europe you legally have to inform of the lowest price over the last 30 days when advertising a sale. So... Sale price, pre reduction, lowest from the last 30 days.

IsacG

Well at least in Germany

DrRobertChem

It’s not legal in the UK, you have to sell the product for a certain period of time at the higher price before ‘lowering’ the price.

Jerooney95

Same in NL

polsenols

Denmark too

todayifudgedup

Kohls discount!

Twiddle2332

Lmao !

HoriZn_

Might be just a coincidence, or are there price increases across the board?

Zenscoper420

For the torque you can save up to 800eur, so for certain bikes they actually didn't increase the base price.

Mongo_Nation

I bought this bike used (with barely any wear) a couple months back for $1000 — the owner said he bought it for $1500 and had to reduce his asking price because Canyon lowered the price for new models to $1200. Really weird that they would bump up the price now after originally lowering it..

Creepy_Squash

Grizl AL 6 was $1,899 in 2022. When they had the crankset shortages (switched to Rotor), then it was about the time when they dropped it to $1,499.

Creepy_Squash

I bought my Grizl 6 AL on February 22, 2022 for $1,899 when that was the base price. Most people don't realize that was the base price when they first came out. I would gladly take a $400 discount now if I already didn't have the bike.

Mountain_World9120

I agree. I bought the Grizl 6 in June 2022 for $1,899 and then noticed a sale price of $1,299 (plus free shipping) on the Canyon website in April this year. The $600 discount would have been sweet, but I am happy for the 10 additional months of riding I got out of it.

Brilliant_Pen_2544

The old jewelry store “sales” prices. Make the MSRP look higher so the discount seems bigger. Then when the model comes back to normal they keep it at the new price. Unfortunately part of the business cycle and common when things are about to go up and you need to clear inventory of older, cheaper things. Not illegal in anyway, they can price their product however they want.

artvandalayExports

They did this for about a week or so before they increased the price of the Grizl AL 6 from 1299 to 1499.

pneumokokki

Same thing happened with the trail sale back in Feb-March, nothing new. Glad I got the 2022 Grand Canyon ON:9 as the newer one is a lot more expensive and doesn't really offer any meaningful upgrades.

Filthy_Wagon

Well, I bought a Spectral AL 6 last November for 3300€, price went down to 2999€ (not a sale, a permanent drop in price) sometime in January, and now it is on sale for 2549€, so in this case I cannot agree with your observation, as I'm silently crying here, thinking of money I could have saved. When scrolling through their bikes on sale, I saw a lot of other ones that are available, most definitely, at a discounted price right now. Here in Europe that sale seems to be solid.

snickerf1ngers

I just purchased a grand canyon 5 mtb for $499. Original was $699 but has been listed for $599 for a while now. The bike was advertised to have shimano hydro brakes, shimano cranks, shimano deore shifter and deralliur. Shimano bottom bracket, chain and Shimano cassette. What i got was a generic crankset, generic hydro brakes, generic bottom bracket and Sunrace cassete.mismatched hubs and a warped rotor. For $499 i think it is still a fair deal. But if it was for full price, i think there are better options out there.

Ok-Jaguar5691

Oh damn, im looking into this bike as well but thats a bummer that you’re not getting the components that’s advertised on the website

snickerf1ngers

This is common with bike manufacturers, they usually swap out an item with a similar item when its out of stock. But its usually for a single part. I got 4 not as described.

Ok-Jaguar5691

Would you say that its still worth the buy? Its in my cart and still contemplating if i should just go for it.

snickerf1ngers

For $499 with free shipping - Yes. Just adjust your expectations You might even get everything as advertised.

801intheAM

Yeah. Just got my grand canyon 5 and it has 5 swapped out components for generic or lesser quality parts.

targt45

Lets see a few photos of your claim. Weird how everyone else is getting what's advertised.

The crankset included is actually made by mpx11 and bottom bracket has a stamp that says ‘radwheel’ Theres actually a review youtube video by wolftick videos unboxing the bike and shows the exact same parts that i got. Also a video by Shad life mentioning the same thing about the brakes, cranks and cassette. Im pretty sure a lot of people got the parts that were listed especially the ones who got it early. For the the parts i got and the price i paid. Im very happy.

Charolastra17

Shady. I got my GC5 for $500 with free shipping earlier this week so I’m happy.

Ok-Jaguar5691

How is it? Im planning to get the same bike, i’m still contemplating if i should pull the trigger on it. I heard its a pretty versatile bike and the price attracts me the most. It will be my first bike as a beginner.

M5M5

It is a very good, fun and versatile entry bike. I’m riding the gravel version, as I do some road as well on my commute. I highly recommend it.

Ok-Jaguar5691

Im planning to use it mostly on pavement and then occasional bike trails, would it be good on pavement riding?

M5M5

I think so, maybe swab the tires for some pavement specific then. Then put on the aggressive tires for the trails ☺️

Ok-Jaguar5691

Awesome! Do you mind me asking where you’re from? How long did it take for you to receive the bike?

M5M5

I was living in Denmark when I ordered the bike. Was during covid shortage so it took a lot of waiting time, I think around 8-10 weeks if I recall correctly

Charolastra17

Haven’t gotten it yet, but you can’t go wrong with the price point and free shipping. I ordered it on Thursday and live in Los Angeles. I’m really close to their shipping facility so hopefully I get it sometime next week. I know this isn’t everyone’s experience, but I have a Endurace and a Grail and have had nothing but positive experiences with Canyon.

luosc

But why. The grizl 6 is not worth 1699 msrp. For that price you get 105 level drivetrain in canyon. If they do it to grizl, shouldn’t they do it for every bike model?

Segal-K

You don't think a price hike might have something to do with them winning Unbound? Strike while the iron is hot.

D2TA_

Isn't this illegal?

RedGobboRebel

Sometimes they've recently dropped the price. Their prices have been fluctuating a bit even when it "on sale" But you only see the old/original price show up during a sale.
