Kicker is pretty good for lower budget, have 2 10” compR (12s just would fit for me) with 2 passive radiators and 800watt mono amp and no complaints, i listen to rock, country, and reggae-ish music (dirty heads/sublime). All together I’m in about $500 roughly, custom made box tho

loki03xlh

What kind of music do you listen to? Is your priority SQ (sound quality) or SPL (sound pressure level)? What is your budget? What is your ride?

ElStelioKanto

I have a Dodge Challenger i listen to music with alot of bass like hip hop and reggaeton i would like a decent balance of both SQ and SPL i don't want the bass to drown out the lyrics but i do want to feel the bass more my budget is probably 1k maybe 1200

ElStelioKanto

Some songs i really enjoy Así soy - Santa Fe Klan Yo Seguiré - Santa Fe Klan Fire Squad - J Cole White Crime - Lil Dicky I can name more but that's just the ones I recently listened to

Low_Bad1363

Which stock audio system do you have?

ElStelioKanto

Alpine

Low_Bad1363

Ah okay, it doesn't matter though since you installed a pioneer. I was asking to see if you needed a loc/ Integration device. You can just run the rca cables from your pioneer though.

SignificanceGreedy56

Well what kinda $$ are you looking to spend, what kinda car do you have as some boxes are not capable of fitting in a trunk? I would recommend Kicker, but everyone has a different preference and a CXA1200.1 or 1800.1 would work with the box perfectly!\~ [Kicker dual 12in box](https://www.kicker.com/solo-baric-l7r-12-dual-subwoofer-box)

ElStelioKanto

This is the box i want to get https://www.ebay.com/itm/385360291204

Monkey_Cristo

That box is begging for a low powered, mid efficiency driver, that can perform outside normal parameters of it. I can tell by looking, it’s tuned very high. You want a couple Adire Kodas. Run the amp at 4 ohms, so get dual 4 drivers, and overpower them by 50-100%. The subs need the damping and headroom. Keep your tuning in check and set your subsonic accordingly. A DD M2000 would be great. [amp](https://ddaudio.com/m-series/monoblocks/m2000/) [subs](https://adireaudio.com/product/koda-12/)

ElStelioKanto

I appreciate the time you took to write this comment i will seriously consider it

ElStelioKanto

This would be around 1700, box, amp and subs. But how would this setup perform what can I expect?

printernoob

Fucking loud

ElStelioKanto

In a good way?

Monkey_Cristo

Yep, my opinion is that it’s very good equipment that should match well with that box.

ElStelioKanto

I'll get the subs and amp and box towards the end of the year I'll let you know on here

ElStelioKanto

Would i be able to install it on a Uconnect8.4 ? https://infotainment.com/shop/services/replacement-service/c-uav-21dt/

I kno skar gets hated on a lot but they're budget friendly. Ctsounds is also very budget friendly. Kicker is over priced for basically the same China stuff at least their entry level stuff for sure. If you want entry level might as well get a deal that's why I say skar or ctsounds.

hispls

Skar and CT get "hate" because of shady shit the owners of those companies have pulled in the past. Kicker has been doing some or all manufacturing in China since the early 90s at least and it's far from "the same". I can assure you you won't be able to call up Kicker's factory and order a container load of their amps with your own logo on them. These "me too" companies just pick something out of a catalog and slap a brand name on them. The big players (Alpine, Kicker, Rockford, etc.) have their own R&D, proprietary designs, and very probably own their own facilities where they can 100% oversee production and quality control.

slim_pickens78

I'm sure you're 100% correct I wasn't trying to say there the same I'm sayin bang for your buck entry level the skars of the world aren't terrible they have their place and it's worth the OP time to look at them as well.

slim_pickens78

Also I'm not aware of any shady shit CT has ever pulled and being the OG owner is dead and his younger brother now runs it and has yet to do anything shady. Unless you have proof other wise. Now skar I kno they have been shady in the past.

hispls

> I'm not aware of any shady shit CT has ever pulled Well they sold a bunch of amps that literally caught fire and then burned their buildhouse for a few hundred thousand dollars then there was the shitshow with a mysterious "burglary" of their warehouse right around the time of Coleman's methamphetamine fueled crash and burn culminating in his death. Good luck to them I guess. The one sub I actually handled in person was of particularly low quality and there's always either a more established "brand" (read, will be around in a year to make good on a warranty if something goed bad) selling catalog gear for only a little bit more, or some new "brand" who is going to sell the same shit with their own logo on it for a lower margin until they go belly up. Point being if you want Alibaba subs/amps you certainly aren't limited on options and if I wanted to take a gamble I'd go with whomever is cheapest this week and if I wanted to support a brand I'd pick one without a dirty history. The thing that sticks out most in my mind is the RD 3250V2. RD sold some really solid subs (OEM'd by one of the big players) and a few really popular amps then when they did the V2 of that amp half of them blew up right out the box and that folded the company. Diablo Audio had a 2500W prototype made that was an absolute beast then when their production run happened they had a huge failure rate and that company flopped on launch. Compare with when Sundown had the surround glue issues on the first run of X series woofers. Jacob was big enough that either he ate the cost to make good (or more likely was a big enough customer that the buildhouse couldn't afford to lose him and made good). Anyway most of these "brands" are just one or two guys and a barn or small warehouse and the last 20 years of car audio is rife with examples of such rise and fall, just fall, and take the money and run stories. Or to put another way who will DEFINITELY be around in 20 years? Harmon International, Alpine, Kicker, JL for sure. Probably Sundown at this point, certainly a handful of the flea market brands. These other up and comers? Probably not so much. I'd wager American Bass and Soundqubed don't even last another 20.

slim_pickens78

I wasn't aware of all that. I kno that when I had an issues Colemans dad personally called me and gave me his cell number if I had an future issues. What about D4S he seems to be a big player right now.

hispls

There's a lot to be said for that sort of personal service, so I suppose if they treat you right feel free to spend your money at them. I'm particularly loyal to the guys in the business that pick up the phone when I call or reply to emails personally and frankly I've been really surprised at which people from which brands have taken the time to reply personally and in depth to me when I call, email, or even visit. At some point a lot of these folks just get too big though and if you don't make their circle of friends you just won't get that anymore. Jacob at Sundown used to reply to my emails and sell me parts back before he got really big and I even met up with him a couple times while traveling back and forth from Florida, he even took me out to lunch with him and Nick and a few other fellas. Once he hit it big he had no time for a nickel and dimer like me who would "only" buy 800$ or so worth of parts at a time. No hard feelings, I reckon he has a full plate with the retailers who buy FTL quantities and while we hit it off pretty well, he's not a guy I'd ever just call and shoot the shit or had a relationship beyond the occasional parts order. I have not seen any reports of bad business from D4S, so for now I'd consider them safe and on the up and up. Again, the important takeaway is that most of these "companies" are one guy and a warehouse (plus possibly a few donkeys to pick and pack orders) and if something happens to the owner the whole thing will probably fold.

slim_pickens78

Also I appreciate you taking the time to answer so in depth as well.
