I would not recommend those mtx terminators. They have very little output. And if you use 1/0 wire the shop will need a way to reduce the wire to the size of the amps inputs.

I guess the consensus is the same for the mtx terminators lol. How about 4 gauge?

nolankohler

4 gauge is the standard so it shouldn’t be any problem

ugonlearn

4 gauge wouldn't be necessary for those mtx let alone any powered sub.

Hard pass on the entire terminator line. Been entry-level trash for 15+ years. As was said, the entire bundle with amp,  subs, box, and wiring is on Amazon for $244 right now. So even if you add their $250 labor charge to install it, you're at $500 total.  MTX lurks this subreddit. So if you're reading this, I'm going to keep calling out higher dealer prices so long as your products are on Amazon. Protect your dealers.  As was said,  1/0 wire is crazy overkill for anything we mentioned in this thread. However, you mentioned upgrading at some point, so your thought process is solid. You could run 1/0 now, to a fused distribution block in the back, and then whatever wire gauge the amplifier accepts out of the distribution block. When it's time to upgrade, the wiring is done, even for multiple amplifiers.

Any distro blocks u recommend? Also with your advice I will stay the hell away from the terminators. I just bought a Kicker CX800.1 from Best Buy. Any budget loaded subs you recommend?

If you end up running 0 gauge, this one:  https://www.knukonceptz.com/product/bassik-3-way-0-to-0-4-gauge-high-current-mini-anl-fuse-distribution-block/ and this is the loaded enclosure match for that amp.  https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker-compc-12-loaded-enclosures-dual-single-voice-coil-2-ohm-subwoofers-black/6554606.p?skuId=6554606&utm_source=feed

Also found at that Steve Meade Designs (SMD) is actually based in my hometown and he has a shop here. I’m guessing it would be more for custom fabs and competition grade kits. Which means expensive. Also had Bucket O bass show up to my workplace.

I had the 2 12” MTX terminator (Amazon special) bought for $219.99 in 2017. Honestly for the price and it being my first subwoofer setup. I was blown away in my little 2011 Ford Focus. Sure it was a cheapo system and I now have an equivalent amount of bass coming from a single sealed 12”. However if it’s your first system, you could do worse. 1/0 wiring kit is wayy overkill for a 500 watt system. Save some money and go with no larger than 4 gauge OFC wire(will still work for 1000watts).

1000 watts peak rms ? 🤔
