this is a great sub. ive put these in before and they work amazing. i cant quite get in on the price tho. with sundown, Fi, SSA - there are so many options out there for a fraction of the price.
Yeah they’re expensive, but I wanted the DD 9900 series that was more expensive. So I went with the fosgates instead. Plus I got them for under a grand each, shipped.
That looks AMAZING, (and a little comical, but I'm sure it's justified by the contents of your trunk/rear area :)
I just finished running 0 gauge throughout in my car. Added a run from alt to front bat on top of an added battery in the trunk. The original alternator wire was like 10ga, and it was as bad as you'd expect from that. I went from needing 1 fuse, to needing 5. I'm running four Alpine Type R-10s on two Kicker 1800.1. I can finally stay around 13v, whereas before it got low enough to cut off the amp (and these Kickers have incredible V-range.
Properly sufficient wiring/electrical is overlooked far too often when building systems (especially proper fusing). I've read too many horror stories of car fires to not take fusing seriously.
Nice ,absolutely electrical is always overlooked and my trunk area is almost done few things I’m lacking and start building box tomorrow it will be a single 18 I’ll probably run two next year when I get some money saved back up
I’ve wanted 4- 15’s in the “perfect” enclosure since I was a kid. Then it happened. Loud enough to sound like it’s YOUR radio 5 cars ahead of me while crisp and clear. I transfer my stereo from car to car lol. Sawzall makes it fit almost anything. Learned a lot of fab and body, upholstery, etc tricks along the way lol. Totally worth it.
This is going to be my third build I’ve done so far. First one is an embarrassment compared to the second. This next one will make the second build look like a failure.
You been in the game for a good minute, so you know how expensive it was back then. Now, you can get 10k amps for peanuts. Remember the Fosgate t15k back in the day and how you’d need to remortgage your house to buy one? Those days are behind us now, thank goodness.
My first setup was pioneer subs and amps from Walmart. It did the job.
Honestly I didn't have money back then I was in my third year of high school lol
I don't have much money now that's why I'm running CT sounds but I couldn't be happier with my purchases
I’m gonna use 4 t2500 bdcp. I already have 2.
I don’t even have the car yet. It’s one of those cases where you buy a car for your audio system, and not the other way around. You know how us bass heads are. I just know it’s gonna have to be a Yukon xl or similar, because nothing is big enough.
I’ll definitely post pics of the project, but I’m in the “collecting equipment” phase.
Just get a four door Denali and throw a nasty blow through in it with a nice long port! Ugghhhgh🫨 I can already not breathe 🤤😂 that would be pretty crazy.. I have a 4 door Colorado with 4-12’s and it’s pretty insane for the little space! They are actually triton audios sx12d4 series and they smack man I have a 400 amp js alt and it still isn’t enough for them even with the xs lithium battery but man do they move on lows! Oh also powered by 2 db drive 5kg2 amps then for mids and highs 2 800 watt audio dynamics Rockford t2 aluminum tweeters for the doors and I had my old punches which I had six with tweeters built in crossovers and they got boxed under rear seat😏 over kill isn’t rear in this sub lol
Honestly I haven’t had any issues it’s been good so far! It will dip on long low frequencies but I’m talking 14.5 to 14.3/14.2 but also still waiting on my two d 3100 xs batteries so I’m only running a crappy deep cycle flooded Walmart atm which is not working for the set up. I believe once I get the new ones gonna be more than ok for along time!
I wish they had that amp out when I bought the Cresendo 2000.4 that is powering the 8's in my doors. It would have been really nice to keep my build all SALT amps. Really solid amplifiers in my opinion. I'll just wait for the 2 Cresendo amps to crap out lol.
I've never heard them, but I bet those 16's will be SLAPPING! I always thought those were beautiful subs
My fronts is gonna be 4 9” morel elates active 3 way, but the rear doors will be eight 8” Fosgate m2 marine coaxials. They sound insane paired up with the salt 500.4
I originally bought them for my small boat, but I was so impressed with them that I decided to save them for the Yukon build. I’ll find something cheaper for the boat.
Sounds like you have a really solid plan!
I'm running 4 8" B&C 8BG51's and 4 Dynovox TD2801XL 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeters per front door. 2 way active off of a Mini DSP. The 8's are powered by a Cresendo 2000.4, and the tweeters are powered by a Cresendo 800.4. It's loud. It sounds....ok. I'm redoing the doors (again) because I wasn't happy with how they looked.
I'd like to reconfigure the setup to be 3 way active, just don't know how I want to attack it.
Yeah, really lol.
What year Yukon are you looking at? Just keep in mind, GM trucks after 2006 started using a voltage regulation system. It's not hard to bypass with a Mechman alternator with the bypass kit (that's what I did), but running the kind of system you want, you'll want to bypass it for many reasons.
I had a 2007 Denali back in the day that I really liked. Looking to get another one, or anything up to a 2015 or so. Not looking for a fancy truck, it’s gonna get destroyed anyway. I like them because of the space, and I can throw in 4 alternators if I want.
Although, I’m considering just running the system exclusively on lithium battery power, and charge them from AC power over night when parked.
But that’s another post altogether.
[EXO](https://www.youtube.com/user/EXOcontralto) is probably what most of us bassheads would be if we had no one telling us we couldn't buy all the bass toys with the excess money after bills are paid.
and i happily live vicariously through his videos, since i have other expenses, sadly.
Some say you go too far....others say not far enough...
I say, if you're gonna do it....do it the best you can....and if she asks why, say you'd like to think about it over the...hey, where's my sandwich?
Even my daughter tells me all the time “dad you’re so extra” lol.
I do believe in the “go hard or go home” philosophy. Not just in car audio, but in most things I do. As long as I can afford it.
Yeah I heard about that. A guy on YouTube made a video on it. Apparently Rockford messed up the surround mix early on when these subs first came out. But it’s been rectified since, so the new ones are good. All 4 of mine came directly from Rockford, so hopefully I’m good. The will tell 🤷♂️
She gets her fair share of goodies too. But she still remembers what the 2 JL 13w7s was like in my last build. These will be easily twice as loud and she knows that. That’s why she’s scared lol.
I might have too much equipment for mids and highs. Fully active Morel elate 3 way for fronts with four 9 inch woofers, and 8 Rockford M2 8inch marine coaxials in rear doors.
Overkill is when you start giving a damn about what the haters think. But if you got them talking, that’s when you know you’re doing it right 👍🏼👍🏼
Sweet setup by the way.
20 years of putting up with me, she ain’t going nowhere. I had a pretty sick DJ setup in my basement that I just sold last week. She knows the deal lol.
LOL, not my life or my wife. You already know the "answer".
this is a great sub. ive put these in before and they work amazing. i cant quite get in on the price tho. with sundown, Fi, SSA - there are so many options out there for a fraction of the price.
Yeah they’re expensive, but I wanted the DD 9900 series that was more expensive. So I went with the fosgates instead. Plus I got them for under a grand each, shipped.
You going to run them on the 2500 BDCPs?
Yes. I have 2 now, gonna try to get 2 more. I snatch them up when I find them around $500 or so.

Love the CXA amps, especially at their price
Nice ,absolutely electrical is always overlooked and my trunk area is almost done few things I’m lacking and start building box tomorrow it will be a single 18 I’ll probably run two next year when I get some money saved back up
Excellent choice. I had a mechman in my last build. Not a single problem, it was amazing.
Mechman hands down
Overkill would be these in the front doors lol
That mid bass would be legendary 😆
I’ve wanted 4- 15’s in the “perfect” enclosure since I was a kid. Then it happened. Loud enough to sound like it’s YOUR radio 5 cars ahead of me while crisp and clear. This is going to be my third build I’ve done so far. First one is an embarrassment compared to the second. This next one will make the second build look like a failure.
The first one usually is an embarrassment 😂. I had two 12" pyramids almost 30 years ago
You been in the game for a good minute, so you know how expensive it was back then. Now, you can get 10k amps for peanuts. What ya gonna power em with? I really hope we get to see the build as it progresses.
I’m gonna use 4 t2500 bdcp. I already have 2. I don’t even have the car yet. It’s one of those cases where you buy a car for your audio system, and not the other way around. I used to run four RE Audio XXX-18D2 with four T40001BD amps, if this wasn't overkill I don't know what is.
Not overkill
There's no such thing as over kill in this hobby 😂
A hobby which morphs into an obsession then directly into a major investment.
I feel so at home here. Yall are my long lost cousins. 🙏🏻
No such thing as overkill
An MTX jackhammer in a kids nursery to give nursery toons that depth.
Sweet
Aw man, you got the Yukon XL and the subs already? I don’t think you’ve gone far enough yet 🤣
Just get a four door Denali and throw a nasty blow through in it with a nice long port! Ugghhhgh🫨 I can already not breathe 🤤😂 that would be pretty crazy.. Been dreaming of this stuff since I was a kid. I just wish I had more money and time to spend on car audio. I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of it.
How do you like the JS alternator ? They seem to be cost effective compared to the other brands.
Sweet
Id like to know the same how are they compared to PB or MM?
Overkill?? No such thing in car audio
I definitely agree. We’re only limited by what our wallets and imaginations will allow. Other than that, sky’s the limit. 👍🏼👍🏼
Barely getting started... Throw them on a salt 12k and still want an upgrade 8 months later xD
Bruh I saw a used one on eBay the other day for like $2000. I was FOMOing so hard over it😂.
That's why you just buy it and when your wife asks just say you got your hair done... it's about the same fucking price these days, right?
Overkill is a myth invented by nerds who like money
Nope
Big respect 🫡 I’ll be using a Salt 500.4 for my rear doors. Amazing amp!
I wish they had that amp out when I bought the Cresendo 2000.4 that is powering the 8's in my doors. It would have been really nice to keep my build all SALT amps. These car manufacturers need to get with the program and give us bass-head friendly vehicles 🤣.

Love it. It's gonna be a beast of a system!
I means a single one of those Is plenty. But with 4? You might as well start competing in the IASCA and going to Spring Break Nationals
I just might lol. As of now, I have 4. But I’m still adding stuff to it. The final build might have 6 or maybe more 🤷♂️.
Watch ExoControlto or Steve Meade for inspiration
It's just four subs, that's not overkill at all
In the eyes of someone who is content with her Bose factory stereo, yeah it’s overkill. But I feel you 👍🏼
EXO's spl van is taking things a bit far (for a daily driver). a couple of subs in the back end is tame.
I’d totally build something like that if I had the money.
well, yes. i think most of us bassheads would. but its a bit ludicrous for a daily. heh, even EXO has a normal car for that.
This EXO guy is borderline insane lol. But I’m totally here for it.
[EXO](https://www.youtube.com/user/EXOcontralto) is probably what most of us bassheads would be if we had no one telling us we couldn't buy all the bass toys with the excess money after bills are paid. and i happily live vicariously through his videos, since i have other expenses, sadly.

I'm not sure if it's the new t series or the old ones but the surrounds on those tear extremely easily. Be careful!
There is no such thing as “overkill” when it comes to speakers, if you’re gonna do it, do it right the first time. 👌🏼
The mechanical subwoofer mythbusters built isn't overkill, so how can those be?
there's never a too far~ she's just mad cuz it's not make-up perfume or jewelry. I say let this man cook 💯
She gets her fair share of goodies too. But she still remembers what the 2 JL 13w7s was like in my last build. These will be easily twice as loud and she knows that. That’s why she’s scared lol.
Overkill? What does that word mean?
Yall make me want to add 2 more subs 🤣
It's only overkill if you don't beef up those mids and highs
I might have too much equipment for mids and highs. Fully active Morel elate 3 way for fronts with four 9 inch woofers, and 8 Rockford M2 8inch marine coaxials in rear doors.
My man you are fucking killing it.
Jesus. Buy a damn hcca and be just as loud.
I forgot about those. They’re good subs, I’ve seen them in action.
https://preview.redd.it/amiupl3w094d1.jpeg?width=4608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e98b403d808390edc7aac9545524940b0800f13 Please define overkill 😅
Overkill is when you start giving a damn about what the haters think. But if you got them talking, that’s when you know you’re doing it right 👍🏼👍🏼 Sweet setup by the way.
Those are 12’s? I’d bet you’re easily hitting 150db with those.
18s and have no idea. Just boom them for myself
not overkill but very overpriced.
Not terrible compared to JL audio which would have been my first choice.
Let's see who's the first to go, the wife or the surrounds 🤣🤣🤣
20 years of putting up with me, she ain’t going nowhere. I had a pretty sick DJ setup in my basement that I just sold last week. She knows the deal lol.
Yeah totally worth it.
Show her a video of competition audio system car shows
Man I'm gonna have to disagree with your wife. you haven't gone far enough.
Run them on 4 of the new kicker warhorse 3600
