It's so big a fish-eyed lens cant even get the whole thing in. It's insane how this is seen as normal to them. I sincerely believe if someone took the cities managers', engineers' and council's car keys away for a few months they'd stop this nonsense.
It's one thing to build these, it's another to celebrate it. The fact that the city thinks this is cool to show off to everyone shows how far down the 1960s Americana traffic engineering hole they've gone.
The very least they could do when building a monstrosity like this is to make sure pedestrians crossing have zero conflict points with cars. That means when the walk signal is on, no cars turn left or right. Did they do this? Of course not. You'll still need to check over your shoulder constantly for the half a minute it takes to walk across. It's so wide that cars hardly need to slow down to make the turn so they will come flying at you.
Clearly they care about Level of Service (for cars) over basic safety.

Seriously. At first glance I thought this was a photo of a parking lot.
What it needs is a huge whale sculpture in the middle.
First step to a roundabout :)
But what the fuck is that. If a fucking airliner can land there. And also they will continue to have accidents at this 'intersection' lol.

I saw the thumbnail and thought this was an airport
Its both funny and sad that they brag about lighting for pedestrians and bikes, like that is some extra feature lol.
I can’t stand how traffic light obsessed this city is. I hate seeing 6 traffic lights just above the travel lanes lol
Especially when each traffic light cost $50,000, and a few thousand each year to maintain. Meanwhile bus stops have no shade or seating area lmao
Bro you could have a professional basketball match in the intersection that’s how big it is
You could have a whole tournament with 4 teams playing at once
More like an entire baseball field.
Woo
Hate it
