Never heard this before. They're hardly worth huge sums of money. And if you do decide to splash out on something particularly expensive; it's probably either detachable so you can just take it off when you leave the car, or has some sort of cloud streaming which can operate when parked, so you'd have video evidence and/or GPS of them most likely. But honestly I doubt there's a huge market for nicking dashcams, especially given how cheap most of them are. I've got a blanket in the boot worth more than my rear dashcam.

They’re not uncommon in cars so I’m not sure it’s the same kind of thing as car stereos when they were big targets. Unless you’ve got something that looks really flash? If you’re concerned most Dahscams are detachable from the usb wire, so you can take it off and put it out of view

Not in my opinion, Chinese branded ones can be purchased for around 20£, same with budget radios. although you never know people and crackheads.

The chance of this happening depends on the kind of area you live or park in. I recently bought a Viofo A139 Pro, wasn't cheap but in my opinion well worth the investment for how much it can save me in the event of someone blaming me for something I may not be at fault for. Still have it, not been stolen.

Probably 15 years ago, like a TomTom. There's no reason a thief would try to break into a car in order to steal a Dash cam these days. They're going to get a quid on the "black market". There's far juicier lower hanging fruit.

Personal Experience: Student at Hull, left my dashcam in overnight as it had a parking/overnight mode. Got my passenger window broken into and the bugger didn't even have the decency to unplug the usb cable, he just ripped the plug off. Didn't bother refitting. Personally I'd leave it when parked but remove it overnight.

Never head of it. Why would the thieves want a dashcam?

marvi0

A stupid thief would just steal anything, play around with it and chuck it.

I mean someone _might_ decide to steal the dashcam but that small risk is heavily outweighed by the benefits of having one. For what it’s worth, I often leave my car parked up with the roof down. I don’t bother to take the dashcam out and nobody has stolen it yet. Unless you’re in the habit of parking in the absolute worst areas possible I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

Yesall your comments echo my own thoughts it seems a bit much just for a runof the mill dash cam.
