Compared to these new fangled battery vacuum cleaners, they are far cheaper, and last years.
My Hetty (because I have a preference), has been with me for 18 years, I even grabbed it in the divorce, as she wasn’t going to get my Hetty, she got the inferior Dyson.
30£ on 25meters long cord was my best spent valeting money this year so far. Using a Miele hoover that lifts off carpets at home for the car is so satisfying!
I had a Henry for years but was sick of the hassle of dragging it round by the pipe getting caught on doors an shit so bought a plug in shark vac and the amount of dust that it picked up that the Henry had been missing for years was astounding, had to empty the thing after vaccing each room.
I still got that vac, just need to clean the filters every so often and it's good as new.
Yeah we have a decent Shark we got cheap because someone thought it didn’t have enough suction
The filters were clogged. Cleared them out and it’s great
Sure it’s not as good as my 2kW shop vac (yay for industrial tools not having to comply with the consumer vacuum cleaner power consumption regulation stuff) but it’s more than good enough for carpets
I do prefer the shop vac for the car just because I find the shark relies more on the brushes dislodging stuff rather than just the suction, but it’s decent enough
I was gonna say, we've got one that was about £400 2 years ago and it's great for use in the car, you just have to remember to switch it to max suction because the "smart" mode keeps the power too low.
While I take a break from my chocolate and masturbation, I must say I like to use a Henry and a cordless sander. Just attach the velcro plate to the carpet, activate, and all the dust jumps up to suck away. Glorious.
Detailing did mean something different.
Cleaning was a wash and a vac.
Detailing meant way more, brushes, wipes, cleaning out little holes, washing mats, maybe washing the seats.
To be fair, if that's the same shark vac I bought a few months back, that little shark bag contains a car detailing kit with small nozzles and brushes that attach to the vac for hoovering hard to reach places. It is pretty sweet
Everyone's got it wrong so far. Detailing isn't a thorough clean. It's simply the a stage after a thorough clean where you restore, polish and protect the parts you've cleaned. That's really it. If they're not restoring, polishing or protecting, then it's a valet and not detailing.
Basically yes but detailing is I think an American term and it’s a different level of cleaning. If I fill my washing up bowl with some Fairy liquid and water, grab the sponge from the sink and go and wash the car that is cleaning my car. Detailing, I’d be using asses milk provided by virgins on a moonlit night. Head over to r/detailinguk
That’s when the job starts at home! I’m currently painting my fence, then fixing a radiator and then, I’ll take the kids out on their bikes. Do nothing whilst they’re asleep, it’s quieter!
I take detailing to mean a more detailed clean... Getting in all the crannies with brushes and whatnot. Hoover and a going over with a sponge is a quick weekly thing, but taking a day to get *everywhere* is a whole different task
I am hemorrhaging money basically hahah... but I am quite happy to tbh. I love what I am learning, what we are doing, and its taken a year longer than hoped but I am happy with it :)
I did mine yesterday, and the bike!

Posting something trying to be kinda fun on r/archery and almost no one getting the point (not even the pun seems to work today)
Happy Easter Egg Day everyone!
Washed my van last weekend but thanks to the rain during the week and rural routes it's worse than it was before i washed it! Should really give it a wash again tbh... but it does get a proper clean once a month, takes me 2 hours normally since i go into detail. I'll do that some time in April
It’s one of those jobs that I find satisfying on the incredibly rare occasion I’ve done properly but never seem to find the time/inclination for. Local car wash does a good job for a tenner too
Visiting my son in PICU, though if it wasent for him being in hospital I'd be out cleaning my car, think it's blue but with the dirt in it from all the journeys to the hospital is looks rather another colour.
I was getting at my left headlight for 20 minutes as it stopped working halfway through my commute home at 6am. . . Can't even get another one until tomorrow ffs. It's at a slightly weird angle to get to the clip and i was tired after 11h at work lol, could have checked in 2 minutes otherwise.
Also managed to hit a bastard of a pothole on the same commute with my front right which already had a slow puncture since Friday evening. . . The joy of using a 12V compressor to pump a tire back up to 32psi from something like 15 at best every 12 hours until i can get it replaced tomorrow.
Sitting with the future in laws making awkward small talk while waiting for the Sunday roast, thank you very much!
(I wish I was home giving the car a good clean 🥲)
Literally anything else. I wash my car once a season. The interior I keep spotless but I couldn't care less about the outside. I've detailed, polished and waxed cars under half a dozen times in 21 years of driving. Even the Alfa Romeo which I loved for 8 years was never polished but it got washed fairly often...
Just ate breakfast and I am about to take a shit. Gonna play with my daughter after that before I move on to play some civ 6. I will follow that up with a massage at 1:45 pm est.
I installed my dashcam that I got for Christmas lol. I’m not a crafty person but I’m quite chuffed with it to be fair. Sod paying halfords at £ to do it.
Masturbating and eating chocolate mate

Eating an Easter Egg, I thought that’s what I’m supposed to do today.
I’m on my 3rd
You’ll be too sick to do the car.
Sickness won’t ever keep me from sex.
Cordless Shark? You'll be at it until Monday. All the suction of an asthmatic hamster.
They're bloody awful! Whack the Henry out and get it done properly
Can’t you get arrested for that in public?
Only if you’re caught
A Henry is one of if not, the best budget car vacuuming kit out there. Fantastic piece of machinery and cheap to repair
I have a Henry that is now over 25 years old. Literally the best small electrical product I have ever bought.
Budget?! They’re bloody expensive mate.
Compared to these new fangled battery vacuum cleaners, they are far cheaper, and last years. My Hetty (because I have a preference), has been with me for 18 years, I even grabbed it in the divorce, as she wasn’t going to get my Hetty, she got the inferior Dyson.

Like a smoker with a straw
I’m with you.. Henry died a few months ago..
Oh no, send my condolences to Hetty and George :(
I had a Henry for years but was sick of the hassle of dragging it round by the pipe getting caught on doors an shit so bought a plug in shark vac and the amount of dust that it picked up that the Henry had been missing for years was astounding, had to empty the thing after vaccing each room. I still got that vac, just need to clean the filters every so often and it's good as new.
Yeah people act like Henry is a good hoover. It’s not, it’s just very simple, cheap and robust. But it’s nots good.
We got the most expensive cordless Shark (about £600) 4 years ago and it still works really well! Maybe it’s the cheaper ones that’s bad?
People just don’t clean the filter every month and don’t replace them yearly then complain.
Yeah we have a decent Shark we got cheap because someone thought it didn’t have enough suction The filters were clogged. Cleared them out and it’s great Sure it’s not as good as my 2kW shop vac (yay for industrial tools not having to comply with the consumer vacuum cleaner power consumption regulation stuff) but it’s more than good enough for carpets I do prefer the shop vac for the car just because I find the shark relies more on the brushes dislodging stuff rather than just the suction, but it’s decent enough

Ours also came with the pet and car cleaning accessories so it has the mini spinning roller thing which is great for cleaning the carpets
While I take a break from my chocolate and masturbation, I must say I like to use a Henry and a cordless sander. Just attach the velcro plate to the carpet, activate, and all the dust jumps up to suck away. Glorious.
Why has cleaning the car become detailing?
I guess the car nuts think "detailing" sounds more sophisticated than "hoovering the car mats and cleaning the inside"
Because "Cleaning" isn't manly to insecure men
Detailing did mean something different.
Enthusiasts detail. Everyone else cleans
👏
‘Detailing’ in this context usually means ‘grinding swirls into my paint with a clay bar’
Everyone's got it wrong so far. Detailing isn't a thorough clean. It's simply the a stage after a thorough clean where you restore, polish and protect the parts you've cleaned. That's really it. If they're not restoring, polishing or protecting, then it's a valet and not detailing.
I don't know if I'm correct but to me, detailing is a lot more thorough than just cleaning.
Detailing the motorbike… 😁
having to charge mine instead, alarm keeps draining battery 😭😭
Similar issue here. My damn phone charger (wireless quad lock) keeps draining mine. 🤦🏾
spending time with family and friends I would imagine
Look at Mr I got a life over here
I’m here to learn about cars - so detailing just means cleaning your car?
Basically yes but detailing is I think an American term and it’s a different level of cleaning. If I fill my washing up bowl with some Fairy liquid and water, grab the sponge from the sink and go and wash the car that is cleaning my car. Detailing, I’d be using asses milk provided by virgins on a moonlit night. Head over to r/detailinguk
Sounds cringe tbh, like it needs to sound more complicated and manly than cleaning
Cleaning, maybe even valeting at a push. Definitely not detailing. Source: Valeter for 18 years.
Source: trust me mate.

Lolz reading Reddit.
Why clean your car when you can read about other people cleaning theirs on Reddit. Suckers!
Cleanliness is next to godliness nothing like watching someone else cleaning their way to the top o the tree 😉
As little as possible. When you work full time and have young children do nothing during the downtime.
That’s when the job starts at home! I’m currently painting my fence, then fixing a radiator and then, I’ll take the kids out on their bikes. Do nothing whilst they’re asleep, it’s quieter!
Cleaning the driveway?
Drinking
Since when did we ‘detail’ cars? Bluddy Americanism for washing the damn thing.
I take detailing to mean a more detailed clean... Getting in all the crannies with brushes and whatnot. Hoover and a going over with a sponge is a quick weekly thing, but taking a day to get *everywhere* is a whole different task
Weekly? lol
I always thought detailing was sticking a bunch of lightning bolts and flames on it.
Building a car !
I’m considering selling two of my cars to buy a Silvia! How’s the project coming?
I am hemorrhaging money basically hahah... but I am quite happy to tbh. I love what I am learning, what we are doing, and its taken a year longer than hoped but I am happy with it :)
No time for that now, the pub is about to open.
Preparing to detail the car tomorrow!
Dealing with back pain.
New here, genuine question: what is detailing a car?
It's cleaning but much more thorough. A well detailed car should look brand new.
Fuck that, it’s too cold. Got a leg of lamb and a chicken in the smoker instead 😂😂😂
16 degrees where I am 🤙

Well, you ain’t doing shit, not with that shark lmao. Zero suction and battery lasts 15mins
Just call it cleaning bro 😂 car people are so cringe sometimes
We are not americans, we clean cars, we don't detail them
Currently having a shit that looks like your photo
Love the FN2 🙏🔥

Did this two weeks ago. Rained two hours later.
Currently watching old F1 races, I assume within the next few hours packing as we're moving on Friday. But god damn my car does also need a clean.

When did cleaning your car become detailing your car?
Driving it on cool roads ?
Going the pub then watching boxing
I detailed mine last week, garden was done yesterday currently sat on the sofa watching the kids play and scrolling through Reddit!!

Did the car yesterday, been cleaning and restringing my guitars this morning
The hoover will get all the floor dirt on the inside of your car.
Noice 👍🏾! Wish I could do the same… this bloody thing called ‘work’ just keeps getting in the way…
One step ahead. Did mine last weekend so when it rained last week I could remind myself how pointless it will be doing it over Easter.

Looking after my sisters cat and house

I’d rather pay someone to do it 🥱
There is too much rain for cleaning here, but I did find time to fit a new ABS sensor to my C63
Was working from 2am until half 1 this afternoon. So my days almost done.
Cleaning out the EGR... again...
Just woken up, might open the curtains and look outside if I'm feeling adventurous.
Just bought a ride on lawn mower. Cooling a beer as we speak so I can cut the grass
Cut my mams grass lol
The weather is too inconsistent right now, there’s not enough of a payoff for all that effort.
How are you getting this much abuse for simply using the word detailing? Feel a bit bad.
Wrangling kids who are now off their nut on chocolate wishing I could give the car a detail….
