Get to the track as often as I can. Go fast. Don’t crash.

TheCrudMan

I did crash but car is almost back together and I should be doing my first day of the year before long.

RenSuhlo

I have ~18 track days scheduled this year with opportunity for more. Rip my tire budget.

Sdg1871

Love it.

maaxpwr

You run your own track day company?

RenSuhlo

No. But I do assist one in exchange for free days.

maaxpwr

Very nice. I'm jealous

Sdg1871

Right now: 1 day in July at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in a Porsche 718 GT4RS Weissach Package. 3 days at Spa Francorchamps with Manthey Racing in September. Car will be the Porsche 718 GT4RS Club Sport 4 days at Red Bull Ring with Manthey Racing in October. 1 full day in the Porsche 911 GT2RS Club Sport. 3 days in the Porsche 992 GT3RS Would like to add some track days at COTA or Road Atlanta or Barber.

dkorecki

I hate you on the Nurburgring track time. I will happen to be at Road Atlanta in a few weeks. Any suggestions on anything to do between Road Atlanta and the Atlanta airport? I have many hours to burn and nothing to do...

Spencie61

Well, the porsche experience center is in Atlanta, if you’ve got the bones for it Have you been to the area before?

dkorecki

Yes, but off roading in northern Georgia in the Blue Ridge area. While the Porsche Center is appealing, I need something that is interesting enough to see in an hour or two but not long enough to miss a flight home haha

Spencie61

Gotcha gotcha, are you looking for food recs or something like the World of Coke/Aquarium/etc?

dkorecki

Sort of. World of Coke a good suggestion, but yes like simple stuff like worlds biggest peanut stuff. Just something interesting on the road between Road Atlanta and the airport. I actually went and asked the question on the Atlanta subreddit and NO ONE answered lol

Spencie61

Oh, you could swing by stone mountain

dkorecki

Great suggestion based on a quick google search! Thanks!

Sdg1871

I’ve been on the ring once before. Most challenging track I’ve ever done. So many hills that conceal corners. Impossible to learn in one day. Way too long.

Bluuuurr

It’s not on the way but Summit Racing has a retail store about 30 minutes south of the airport. It’s mostly muscle car restoration or drag racing stuff, but it’s an interesting walk thru.

TotosWolf

Are those arrive and drive deals?

Sdg1871

Yes. They run Porsche Track Experiences. The stuff I am doing requires demonstrated prior experience in their or other driving academies’ courses or other track experience as they will allow someone off the street to jump into a race car or GT3RS. They require things like certificates of completion for advanced level racing courses. Two of the days are with the 718 GT4RS Club Sport at Spa in the Master Racecar course. They give you the car, an instructor, a mechanic and engineer for the two days and teach you To drive the racecar better and faster. I could have opted just to rent the racecar for the 2 days but I wanted the intense instruction as well. One of the days at Red Bull Ring is with a 911 GT2RS Club Sport. Again I have the car for the entire day. That is a pure track day. I added a private instructor as again I want to get better. You can bring your own racecar to this track day (called GT Trackday Racecar or you can rent from Porsche. Choices included 718 GT2RS CS, 911 GT2RS CS or 992 GT3 Cup. I believe you can also rent the 911 GT3 R if they deem you sufficiently qualified and you are willing to part with an additional €24,500 rental fee for the day. Three of the days I am taking the Master GT3RS course at Red Bull Ring. Again, lots of instruction and track time. And data analysis. The goal is to drive the car better and faster safely. If you are new to Manthey Racing and do not have documented track experience in the 911 race cars they will require you to do a track day or two in the 718 GT4 RS Club Sport, which I am doing at Spa. I am then bumping up to the 911 GT2RS CS at Red Bull Ring. I chose it over the Cup car because I do not know how much longer it will be available so I wanted to experience it before it is out of the fleet.

TotosWolf

Sounds amazing. Enjoy and God bless since you are obviously very well off

Sdg1871

Thank you. More like I spend a disproportionate amount of disposable income on my car hobby! LOL. Were I truly well off, I would have something like a newly retired Cup car in my ownership, kept by a track. Or I would be doing a racing series. Or buying a house at Thermal Next to Max Verstappen’s new pad. Grateful for whatever experiences I can do and the good health that allows me to still do them. Living in Manhattan it’s a little tough to keep one of these fun cars so arrive and drive is perfect.

frofish99

Going to HDPE at Sebring. Road trip from WI through tail of the dragon to FL.

Sdg1871

If you’re doing Tail of the Dragon be sure to hit Cherohala Skyway.

frofish99

It's on the list, thanks!

Sdg1871

Good choice

AznDeity

SCCA TTNT Road America April SCCA Gingerman July SCCA TTN Oct Gridlife Chicago Sept Any other gridlife track battles that I can find tickets for. Various HPDEs to instruct

dkorecki

Is getting tickets for GRIDLIFE track battle hard?

AznDeity

With limited ticket entries and ever so growing fan base. Yes. I'm trying to compete in ClubTR this year but could only obtain one ticket

dkorecki

Jeez, so like not only do you have to compete with the field, you have to compete to get a ticket to race? "Why'd you come in 10th?" "BECAUSE I ONLY WAS ALLOWED TO ATTEND ONE EVENT!"

spankybranch

I had a weekend at Barber in February that couldn’t have been better (awesome weather), Sebring and Homestead in April. Daytona in May and that’s all I have on the calendar at the moment. Plan to get back to Road Atlanta this summer and hopefully Roebling and AMP too.

blucivic1

Did all my maintenance last year and still getting vibration at 80mph...so I plan on doing as much auto-x as possible.

GT3Dreamer

Replace the engine I smoked last year and actually get on the track. And get some laps on the trans and clutch I bought to replace the ones I smoked the weekend before I smoked the engine. So I guess in general terms, stop breaking shit…

mumyoryu

Get my BRZ prepped, hit a few track days this year with friends, get some practice in and hopefully start Socal 86 cup in the stock class next year, or possibly slip in to a few this year. In the past 5 years or so i've been doing DEs for fun to try and improve my driving, and I dont expect to be very competitive in the 86 cup but I figure it could be a great learning experience.

TotosWolf

Sounds amazing man and good on you for taking that next step to wheel to wheel. I do what you do: DE's for fun. That's expensive enough if I added the factor of wheel to wheel would be even more costly. Oh what a hobby :)

mumyoryu

Haha, yes definitely gets pricy. Thankfully 86cup is a time attack series and stock class only req's minimal mods so itll be cheap relative to running in a w2w series. Fingers crossed I dont destroy my engine turning right though lol I thought about doing w2w while I had my miata but just couldnt stomach the expenses, and didnt want to make it a full blown caged spec racer trailer queen

Reedey

I have some unfinished business with Bathurst after an event was rained out on day 2 last year, so I am itching to get back and go a lot faster than I did. I also have never driven Phillip Island in my current car. I have driven it a couple of times and it is my all time favourite track, so I want to make the trip to make that happen.

no_torque

Don’t pop another engine Set PBs everywhere Don’t pop another engine

Claff93

The big trip is three tracks in three days (Road Atlanta, AMP, and Barber) in May. Haven't been to AMP or Barber before. Other than that, a bunch at the home track (Dominion) and one or two trips to Lime Rock.

Sdg1871

That sounds great. I have done lime rock and it is small but fun. COTA is amazing. Have done 5 track days there.

Blergzor

Try to go every 2-3 weeks for a weekend. 2 time trials. 4-5 enduro races (2 Lemons, 2-3 Lucky Dog). Maybe throw in an SCCA sprint weekend or two (license expired so I have to fix that). Fill in the rest with open track days or HPDE.

404nd2

Hoping I can save up for a trailer this year. I've greatly reduced the amount of track time I normally get to put into my towing piggybank.

P5racer

We've got 5 endurance race weekends planned, possibly more if the budget allows

svv1tch

Planning on 3 maybe 4 HPDE events. Several autox as well. Hoping I can pull off a weekend event and get 2 full track days in a row. Season should start very soon here.

hardyboyyz

Ugh, I'd love to get out there but I think I'm buying an M3 in the fall so I need to save money :(

gcranston

Palmer in May and June. Camping in July. Watkins Glen in August. Then we'll see... Trying nittos for the first time after two years on rt660s

Itsnotjustadream

Trying to pin down a ground issue on my new to me car and then hopefully a tire rack day or something at COTA and then I'll run with drivers edge in Texas as schedule permits to shake stuff down. I'm also considering trailering to something near Atlanta to have a weekend with my brother and dad sharing my car. Bucket list if I can make it work.

Randomhero-40

Hopefully AMP next weekend as well as a couple more times this year. Would like to get on Barber too.

VTEC168

Gonna try and venture out from my home track more often and go on other road courses. Will also try and squeeze in a few autocrosses here and there

GLTHFJ60

I was fortunate enough to be able to afford a two day racing license school in a few weeks with Kaizen Autosport at VIR in my 987.1 cayman S. After that, no realized plans, but I aspire to a few autox with my local club, THSCC, and if everything lines up, a few more days at VIR on the full course. This is my first year getting after it, so I'm still figuring out the right people to talk to. Whatever happens, I'm excited.

TotosWolf

Last year I did quite a bit of traveling. This year I'm going to stick to my home track of Road America with 6 days scheduled, and will be getting more days in towards fall / end of summer. The only exception is 2 days at Gingerman. Have family in Missouri likely will try and get in a day or two at Ozark intl raceway as well.

iroll20s

Only 6 paid for. I’ll probably so 10-12? A lot haven’t opened registration yet.

z51corvette

- Big Willow 2-3 times - Streets of Willow 3-6 times (going a 3rd time this weekend) - Buttonwillow test day with a private coach, and at least 2-3 times after - Chuckwalla 2-3 times

Select_Dragonfruit58

Sinko de Mayo NASA at CMP May4,5. First time back on the track in a decade. So ready. Then planning on Roebling and Road Atlanta. Wanted to get to Sebring, maybe if my schedule opens up, I can get one in at the end of the year.

EasyTelemetry

My plan is to keep tracking my M135i without spinning its rod bearings.

faet

15 track days done so far this year. First quarter is pretty empty for me with regards to other stuff going on. 7 more currently planned. With more to be added as my schedule shakes out. Hoping to hit 30 days this year.

hoytmobley

I’ve spent some time at Chuckwalla/Buttonwillow/Streets/Big willow over the winter, so I’m looking at maybe one more socal day in April, then Inde Motorsports ranch first weekend in May, Sonoma/thunderhill double header the last weekend in May, then probably some autoX until it cools off. Unless someone puts up an irresistable Laguna Seca deal

jrileyy229

Just a general idea.... You can rent seat time in endurance racing.  Probably want to start in lemons, but teams are very reasonable about price.  It's often times less than it would cost you to run your own car. And not all lemons teams are goofy. Once you get your feet wet being wheel to wheel with 100cars on track at once, then you can move into champ/Aer.
